3 RepliesEdited by HurtfulTurkey: 4/25/2017 8:37:30 PMMinimum wage in 1980 was $2.65, so this story is either fabricated or the boss didn't remember his actual wage and was attempting to translate it to real world dollars. That said, the minimum wage back then had approximately 15% more buying power than it does today, and tuition costs were significantly less.

Sounds about right. These guys want you to believe that they worked super hard when they were younger, and that the reason younger generations aren't succeeding is because their spoilet brats without a decent work ethic. Total bullshit. The baby boomers were lucky. They happened to be born at a time of unprecedented social mobility and the consequences of their reckless spending in the 70's and 80's is one of the major reasons normal people today find it so difficult to buy a house and achieve financial security before their 30's.

I swear, older people have no idea what they're talking about when they bring these things up. Yeah, minimum wage was $6, but I bet you gas, milk, rent, etc, was significantly cheaper, too.

4 RepliesEdited by BurningViper 7-2: 4/25/2017 12:55:20 PM18.73 USD = 166 SEK. Wow, how low are you guys getting paid over there? I get paid 4000 SEK at my job, which equals to 451 USD. And even that's low here in Sweden. It's also before taxes, which is about 33%. Note: It's per month.
KUPO!!!
