The crucible is so inconsistent.

One match, I can run through and be decent, the next, my grenades and weapons do half the damage. Wtf is going on here? Edit: some people aren't aware that "damage referee" is a real thing. Edit II: Some people don't understand how the internet works either.     Quit the game till you get placed in a game that the referee is on your side. At the least, I don't stick around to die - much anymore as I have died too much. Either I go positive or I go to orbit.

    Its in a very bad place right now. Guessing they attempted to prepare us for pvp in D2, but I hope they rid the game of guns that avoid the changes and balance the subclasses. Matchmaking is a huge issue as well. Most games i play down a player for a few minutes, until another player leaves. Even had a 4-5 game where the other team was added a player first, making it 4-6.

  • It's also interesting to note that scout rifles are becoming less reliable in the Crucible as well. Shot some dude five times with a Keystone and he was only at half health.

  • I have to agree. Some dude shot me with golden gun while I was already behind a fricken wall. No, it's not lag. I believe the connections aren't synching up at all. Where I see I'm behind a wall they see me just flying across the wall. The only reason I believe this to be the problem, there was one time I had chased someone down into a small corridor and they slid and hid behind a wall. Suddenly I saw a blurred little line in the colors of the guardian. There he was in the middle of the doorway, I began o think I was lagging and fired at him only to kill him.

Manipulation. That's what is causing that. Bungie's matchmaking, their "damage modifier", and other things that I'm not sure of, because I'm not a programmer. It causes you to be able to "pub-stomp" a team one match, but then, even though you're playing against the same exact people, and their skill levels are all lower than your teams', they " pub-stomp" you the next match. That's why it's possible to wreck a whole six man fireteam, with a team of 6 randoms one match, then the next they totally obliterate your team. As much as people want to believe that crucible matches are won solely based on skill, the truth is... it's really probably only based on about 50% skill, the other 50%, is whether or not you're on the side that has the "good connection", if you're slightly behind, or ahead, of the other team in game time, and if your team is the one who's shot actually register. But, about 3/4 of the way through every match, the manipulation let's up on the "suppressed team", for a few minutes, to allow a bit of a comeback; but then it goes back to suppressing the "suppressed team", until the match ends. I'm serious. Just pay attention. If you're the winning team, you'll noticed that when the match is about 3/4 of the way through, the losing team will seem to gain momentum, and start catching up for a few minutes, then it'll go back to being easy to beat them. If you're on the suppressed team, your shots won't register hardly at all, and your radar barely works at all, until at about the 3/4 mark. Then all of a sudden, it'll feel like... "Wow! My shots are finally registering, and my radar is working now!" But then, after a few minutes of things working well, it'll go back to the way it started off. These rules don't pertain to the "match hosts", though. Both teams will have at least one person, who are not suppressed by the manipulation. They're the ones at the top of the scoreboard, almost always. This gives everyone about a 50/50 win/loss ratio, with the chance of having one, or two games, where you're one of the one's at the top, with the high score.

    • Yeah, I experience that too. Sometimes I get into a game and sweep the enemy team, but then I get into another game and I either kill trade or lose my gunfights.

    • this is why I only play 1 game in the featured crucible list to get my AoT, win or lose (mostly lose). Then I'm done. No point in sticking around just for that mess

    • Same here. And my issue goes for days it seems. I will put a whole clip into someone trying to get their shields down and they will turn and two tap me with the last word from 30 meters away... :/ It has come to the point where I let it get under my skin too much and I start dreading going into crucible. I do not care about my stats... but it drives me crazy when the damage is not happening.

      • I'm so glad I found this post - I've lived the past years thinking it was me, my lag or god knows what! Same weapon, I shoot - do incremental damage, they shoot - kill me one hit Grenade direct hit - damage their shields, their grenades take me down straight away I've emptied a full magazine of bad juju into a hunter at close range and just managed to lower his shield - he turns around and (while I'm at full health and shield) one shots me with hawksaw... classy - explain to me how as an exotic bad juju is so bad ass again? And don't get me started on why ToO weapons should be allowed in Crucible - or in ToO for that matter. Once you're up against a guy with an Adept weapon - you're toast, there's no answer - and if they're running around with an Adept weapon they're probably one of the better players in the first place - so how is letting one of the best players in the game get an even greater advantage setting up a fair match? Iron banner, fine - use your adept weapons, but they should be banned from normal crucible. Are they going to fix this pile of cack in D2? are we finally going to get reasonable SBMM? because it seems like the SBMM is complete b@ll$&it. How is it that a newbie can get teamed against ToO guys? The whole argument for SBMM from Bungie is bogus. I'm told that it's Xbox Live terms that dictate SBMM, but that doesn't explain how completely ludicrous it is in Destiny.

          • For anyone and everyone get a netduma gaming router. It lets you set the distance for which the game will put you in. Im in North Carolina and I have it to where it's a 800 miles diameter or radius which ever one is the correct term. I will never get matched suit someone outside of my zone. . I can set it to as big as I want it or as small.

          • Games that run the old school unreal peer to peer garbage do this. Absolute inconsistency. These include destiny and cod. It lets devs take the cheap way out while the game basically matches u up with anyone from anywhere. Games that run dedicated servers like battlefield, titanfall, and halo offer a more consistent experience. This costs devs more money and is not perfect as well. You need to have servers in every region your game is sold in and then you have to hope that the players stay in said region. I hope destiny2 has dedicated servers but i doubt it. Cod hasn't had it in years.

              I feel your pain. I'm an average player, mostly because I prefer enjoying the experience over going full tryhard. There's no coming back if you go [i]full[/i] tryhard. Anyway, since I play to enjoy it I just run the loadout I like. Mid to high impact scout with a sidearm. I've been running this since forever it feels like. My skills and strategies are more or less the same, but from game to game I can go fron a 2.0+ to a .5 in the same game mode. Bear in mind this usually happens around the time the game says, "We're breaking up those teams to find a [i]better[/i] match." Riiiight, better for who?

              • P2P + lack of connection based matchmaking + people who really shouldn't have nat type 1 having nat type 1 = inconsistency. It's usually perfectly fine for me, but the last few days has been horrible with excessive matchmaking times and laggy matches. Rare issues like people being immune in the middle of a gun fight with immunity notifiers popping up and single digit precision damage isn't down to P2P, though.

                  The damage ref is real, the manipulation to make everyone 1.0 kd for everyone possible is real. The cheaters/lag switchers/dodos players are real. I go with the flow myself, and to some guardians assumptions, I have dominated fireteams( better players) from tactics etc. they all don't have positive games, and the frequency of positive games goes down when on rando teams. Setups on character gear is key to get all the benefit of the doubt on hit numbers. Some players don't take the extra time to make sure gear is setup per class being played( incoming burn damage etc. )if your running a Heinz 57 loadout, u WILL take more damage; if you do setup and play to the benefits of your gear, then u DO take less damage.same on the other side, I can always tell when someone is geared right, less damage from class perks, gear perks, wep perks. The other side is melting people. Yes, there are TOO many lagfests in pvp, both induced by players, AND the crap code of destiny. Yes it suxx arse; I've found to deal with it, alter your gameplay/loadout to counter as much as possible. O, and when in doubt, jump, run, or whatever to stay alive. Til we meet on the bannerfield guardians✌️

                          From personal experience: Axion bolts will only ever do full damage to myself. Scatter grenades bounce 70% of the time. Fusion grenades don't track 40% of the time. Nova bombs will actively search for walls and ceilings. Radiance and radiant skin doesn't actually give more armor. It takes 5 ticks instead of 3 ticks for stormtrance to kill someone. Finally, all 6v6 game modes are actually 1v11 and guess who that 1 person is.
