I'm gonna put an end to all you crybabies right here.
Bungie has stated, multiple times I might add, that matchmaking in the crucible prioritises connection quality above everything else, then SBMM. So that leaves only three real reasons as to why you're complaining;
1) You're being placed in games where people are in or around the same skill level as you, and because of that, you're dying more and losing more games.
2) Your internet is so bad that you're latching out for something to focus your frustrations on, and so happened to find SBMM.
3) You're a sheep, following the Destiny crowd and hoping on the ‘SBMM is terrible!’ bandwagon.
I suspect it's 2). Why? Because you're not playing against other people who have a poor connection. Destiny doesn't have dedicated servers for the crucible, this means that the servers are P2P (Player to Player). If you encounter someone who's red barring/yellow barring, that means that you have a poor connection to them. It isn't bungie's fault that you're internet is bad. I literally haven't encountered a yellow/red bar player since the ending days of Y1/very early days of Y2, back when the lag was real. From around a week after TTK was released, I haven't encountered a single red/yellow barred player in the crucible.
TLDR; Stop complaining because you're internet is terribad.

What you say is completely true and the video which OP has posted only shows 1 or 2 laggy players who have shit internet. Nothing to do with SBMM.

Edited by tigr2actual: 12/2/2016 8:44:59 PMYour internet not You're internet Lashing out not latching out Also, if you've been playing in the crucible since TTK launched and haven't seen a red bar you're a damn liar. P2P means somebody in that game is hosting randomly/rotates hosting duties and the person red bar has a poor connection to them. It might be the OP, but it could be anyone else in that game, to include the person red bar. Another point to that, the host rotates. If the same person is red bar throughout the game, it's their internet that's the problem or location. Finally, the match making algorithm Bungie uses doesn't take into consideration in game ping, only players connection to destiny at the time of matchmaking.
-
Fair enough. Nope, I meant latching out. As in trying to grasp. Incorrect, that's what dedicated servers do. Dedicated servers automatically select the person with the best connection to the server, and use them as a host. P2P is just that, player to player connections. Which means you'll have different connection qualities to multiple different people within the same room, or crucible match in this case.
-
In typical P2P yes, but not in Bungie a version. I'll do some research on exactly where I read or heard it, but in an interview with the crucible team they stated that in Destiny P2P a single client hosts and it randomly rotates during the match. It's similar to a single player hosts the connection between a raid team and bungies servers during a raid, but the random switch is included to prevent someone who knows they are host from cheating. It's a good idea in theory, but right now with a dwindling population, the game has to connect similar skilled people across the world. Steamers and youtubers are doing experiments and trying to match make with players across the world in similar skill brackets and matching with them a majority of the time. All players involved have great individual connection but still have latency in the games due to the distance game data has to travel.

it should be competitive SBMM lobby and social CBMM lobby, so everyones happy

I just can't take this guy seriously because he never learned the difference between 'your' and 'you're'.

Not mention he says "latching out" instead of "lashing out" and he thinks P2P means "Player to Player" when it means "Peer to Peer"
-
I meant latching out. As in trying to grasp. P2P has multiple definitions; Peer to Peer or Player to Player. Both are correct.
