So let me start off by saying how much I play (for now) Destiny. We have 3 playstations in our household. I play Destiny with my wife and son. We have been playing since the games release. I have 100% achievements and have the platinum trophy.
Now, I rarely and I mean rarely play crucible because I am mostly interested in the end game content. I have all 3 characters at 399,399,400 light level. I play so little crucible that my HIGHEST crucible faction level is I think 7? My best k/d ratio is like .79 or something awful like that. I have also NEVER completed a trials of Osiris card because well, I just don't play crucible.
So with that said, my wife and I tried to play some iron banner this last time it came around. Sometimes one of us will be disconnected and get some rabbit, beaver, anteater or whatever error. If we are lucky, we are able to rejoin on one another. Sometimes we have to reset our playstations or in some cases reset our modem just to be able to reconnect to each other. Having done this a few times, Bungie recognizes this as some sort of "cheat" I guess? So up on my screen appears "you have been restricted from crucible for 1 week and trials for 2 weeks".
So it's been a week and the restriction has been lifted because last night the "lock" icons on all crucible playlists is gone. SO NOW I just logged in to destiny. Haven't tried to play crucible since the restriction was lifted because like I said, I play the end game stuff. BUT the first screen that comes up is "you have been restricted" AGAIN. But now it says 2 MONTHS
Bungie I think you need to fire a few people in your networking department because this is clearly a problem on your end. How do you justify banning me for a second time for 2 months when I haven't even loaded a crucible playlist since my previous ban? That is not a rhetorical question. I WANT AN ANSWER. We have spent a lot of money on this game and I deserve an answer. More so, I deserve to be UN restricted immediately.

I agree. I feel that we all pay enough money to play this game on psn. If your internet is good enough for psn, it should be good enough for any game that requires psn to play. The reality is, because Bungie programmed Destiny wrong, they ended up rewarding laggers rather than punishing them. If they had done it right, then the incentive to cheat would be removed, and people who lagged from bad internet wouldn't be rewarded, but punished by the game itself. But not by Bungie. Banning or restricting players for poor internet connection or for internet problems that may not even be related to their connection is simply unacceptable. The complete lack of any appeals process is just ridiculous. We pay way too much money and spend way too much time to be treated so unfairly. We sign over all our rights in order to play these games, which is another unacceptable issue. I thought there would be a near unanimous uprising on the forums against Bungie when I heard about their latest ban/restriction post, and was amazed and dismayed to see all the posts supporting what Bungie is trying to do. I've been dedicated, perhaps over dedicated, to this game since I started playing it early in year one. I've stood by it and defended Destiny and Bungie in numerous arguments with my friends. I've sat and watched as Bungie has made one wrongheaded decision after another, thinking "Surely they know what they're doing . . .don't they?" But this may be the last straw for me. It's simply too much of an insult, and too large of a risk, that I might permanently lose my account because I have less than stellar internet. I would rather stop playing than take that risk. The only person I know among my friends whom I've never seen redbarring, literally is a 20 year IT professional and has a T1 line running directly into his ps4. And even he experiences Bungie error codes on a regular basis. I see a lot of posts on here telling people to "Take personal responsibility" for improving their connection. It's simply not possible for many people. Those people are still paying the exact same amount of money for the game itself and their psn subscriptions, yet they are being unfairly discriminated against. Restricting, and even more banning, accounts, should be the very last steps of a thorough, painstaking process, subject to oversight, review, appeal, and reversal. It's simply unfair and unacceptable for Bungie to treat the investment players have made in money, time, and emotion, with anything less than the utmost respect and care. The fact that any players fell differently about this issue shocks and saddens me. Blaming the victim is neither rational nor acceptable here. The problem is Bungie and bungie alone. I am all for banning cheaters, but only cheaters, and only after a properly designed investigation is carried out. Thorough, painstaking, and subject to oversight, appeal, and review. Would this be expensive? Yes. Would it be time consuming? Yes. Would it be a fair and appreciative way to treat a highly dedicated player base and improve the game experience for all? Yes again. Would it be perfect? No. Would some cheaters get through? Almost certainly. However, as long as cheating remains beneficial in the short term, which it will unless Bungie revodes the game, there will be those who cheat. Letting a few cheaters through the net without getting caught is a far, far better alternative to catching non-cheaters in that net. Suffering from bad internet is not cheating, and is so far away from being a ban-worthy condition that I honestly could not believe it when I saw what Bungie was planning. Do they even validate reports that they recieve? What's to prevent griefing and trolling among players who simply are assholes? Anything at all? We don't know, because Bungie is a closed community, noncommunicative with their fan base about critical issues such as this and unwilling to discuss such issues in a reasonable manner. Anyway, that's my two cents. Thoughts welcome. Politeness appreciated.

So guess what! Your post was removed from my favorites and it completely lost in the #Help forum despite how many people had hit the like button. Yay! Thank you friends at Bungie for once again showing us all that posts you deem unfavorable to your image get censored. If anyone wonders, I scrolled down for almost 15 minutes until I got to way older posts than this, looking for it before posting this. Also, my favorites should have contained this post but was gone. Dirty....

11 RepliesThere are some things you can do to improve your connection. The most important thing is playing via a wired connection. Buy an Ethernet cable. If you have one already, upgrade it to cat7. It will help. When is the last time you upgraded your model and router? You can simply get a speed boast by upgrading your modem and router. If you rent one from your ISP, give it back and buy your own. Their equipment is crap. Forward ports in your router. This helps A LOT.

9 RepliesEdited by zxionisus: 11/19/2016 5:24:09 AMOctober 25. You went 34 and 1 on patrol in the Plaguelands. Nice try buddy. You're a cheater. You like DDOSing AI in the Forge huh? You think it makes you a big man? I bet you even lag switch on story missions. Oh I'm onto you man. Shame! Seriously, I hope you get it straightened out man. Sorry for your predicament - it's pretty obvious from your player history that you aren't cheating.

4 RepliesEdited by LiamCDM: 11/20/2016 3:20:08 AMThe reason why you were banned, was because you had an unstable connection. That's obvious from reading your story. Take some personal responsibility, fix your connection, or stop playing the Crucible. Yes it's unfair, but that's just the way it is.

2 RepliesBuy more silver they wont ban you then.

Once Bungie had their money, they dont care about their player base. That i what i am starting to feel.

You say you only play end game content. Why is this a problem? Maybe you should spend quality time with your spouse and son instead of playing video games with them. I mean 3 Playstations? What happened with one system? There is always a reason you are given a ban/restriction. I've played this game since the Alpha/Beta on both console families. Never once got banned because I've always had amazing connection (host connection 90% of the time). When you said you and your wife get disconnected from a game, on multiple occasions, but reconnect to the same game, it can easily be looked at as a simple lag switch. I've used that on my Xbox when playing Halo Reach many years ago for quick rank ups, but never for cheating in PvP. But seriously, get rid of the unnecessary consoles. One should suffice. Your internet connection suffers from one console when others are using it, but goes to hell when you have 3 running at the same time. No wonder you got a restriction.
-
6 RepliesPlot twist your wife and son are DDoS'ing people in trials. Bungie usually has a reason for giving out bans, I believe there is a reason for this one too. It cant be from many reports because if that would be true I would have been banned long time ago. I perform things in crucible that people cant believe so they call it cheating and report me (not lag just outplaying and clutching)
-
1 ReplyThey recently did console bans on players who had several previous bans. You were probably in that group.
-
OP, what's your upload speed? My wife and I both play destiny, and it was mildly laggy on 1up, severely laggy in IB, we quickly upgraded to 10up and haven't had issues since
-
1 ReplyYou are one of few to whom I can say this, but this restriction isn't really your fault. The issue with multiple people playing Destiny in the same household is an issue which has been there for a long time and which Bungie has yet to fix. Have my upvote for attention guardian.

Un ban him and his family Bungie dipshits!

4 RepliesThis post appears to have been shelved and marked as though the question/concern was answered by a moderator, yet i only see the mentor flag next to the name... You came here with a legit issue and valid concerns and they copied and pasted their ill-structured response as the "go-to" reason for such restrictions placed on your account. Its as though they are telling YOU THE CONSUMER, TO SUCK IT UP AND DEAL WITH IT, because they don't have a better reason to give you. My final thoughts, either you are truly a problem child with your support and money to 3 consoles and the purchase of 3 game licenses (which i personally doubt) or they simply don't care which I believe to be more accurate, and can easily drop me in the kill my account zone as they run rampant doing as they please. And if that doesn't do the trick - basically its either a lawsuit, or like I stated just moments go, suck it up! #Lame.

This game is a sinking ship man. Get out before it gets worse.

2 RepliesEveryone is missing the point here.... He was banned a second time, and didn't even play one round of Crucible! How does that even happen?

12 RepliesBandOfAngels: Bungie is so stupid.... Audience: How stupid ARE THEY? BandOfAngels: They're so stupid that they lie about everything even though we know they are lying. Listen folks, cut your losses and move on before you get a console ban and just wait until they make a Destiny version with dedicated servers. Here's why!: They lied. They don't have a crack team of super sleuth investigators sifting through hours and hours of game footage, investigating every complaint filed and making for darn sure that every cheater sees the justice of the BANHAMMER!!!! Nope. They just have Marquis, the unpaid intern that keeps locking his keys in the employee bathroom by mistake, that can't even count let alone determine if there has been some kind of foul play and to top it all off, Marquis doesn't even play Destiny, he took this job to expand his job horizons, now resents his job and just randomly bans people based on their gamer tag because as he says "I just can't be bothered by all this lag and latency nonsense, I need a real job!"(read with a lisp.) People, this company is a bunch of "tell you what they think you want to hear" LIARS! They constantly are censoring/manipulating these chat rooms to suit their own purposes which are to distract people from real problems and flat out lying to the player base 99.04% of the time. Oh wait, that .04% is just a jab at Bungie for one of their lies. I personally HATE this type of person in an individual and LOATH it when a company acts in this manner to the point where I demand to speak to management to straighten them out. But wait! They have no accountability to their customers and nobody watchdogging them for their serious scams just like nobody regulates any of this garbage. Look at the whole No Mans Sky fiasco. That kind of thing happens in Destiny on a regular basis. Check out one of these posts about the comprehensive lists of their lies. It's shocking if you get a chance. And I say if you get a chance because they catch those threads and close them quickly. I should know because I used to write them. Summation/tl'dr: Bungie lies. They should be shut down. The money they have taken from people returned and made an example of. This will never happen because they are beholden to no one. Run far from here. Spend no more money with them. Look at how they just bold faced lied in the Weekly News about skill based match making. The company is disgusting to me and there is nothing anyone can do to stop them except STOP buying their products. 7-6-17 NO MORE BUNGIE DAY. To Bungie itself: I personally feel disgusted that I've ever given you lying, manipulating, thieves one single penny and you deserve whatever you get. I'll see you in hell, degenerates.

3 RepliesOh, and to respond to all the A-holes telling him "Well, obviously you were banned because you have a crappy connection.", while that may be obvious in hindsight, it would at least be helpful if Bungie would specify what the bans were for to the individual that was banned. I saw someone using a cop as an example, and it's a pretty good one. If he just pulled you over, thrust a ticket into your hand, and then said "pay your fine, faget" it's both unfair and unnecessarily rude. The reasons for it being the latter are fairly obvious, but it's also unfair as you receiving that ticket should serve as a signal that you're doing something wrong and that you need to change. You can't change if you don't know what you're doing wrong; maybe you were going too fast, maybe you forgot to signal before making a left turn, maybe you were over the line; if they don't f*cking tell you what you were doing wrong, then how the actual f*ck are you supposed to change for the better? My point is this, Bungie has a moral obligation to tell people why they are banned. If people are given a temporary ban due to bad connection, then they should be told this so that they can improve it. If they are temporarily banned due to using an exploit, they should be told that so they know not to do that again. If they are perma-banned for DDoSing, they should be told that...and then be given a 50 page message explaining to them how terrible of a person they are. Also important, there are times when people are banned for bullsh*t reasons, where they don't deserve the punishment given to them. Maybe someone is matchmade onto a DDoSer's team and is blamed for the events that follow? Maybe someone is reported a bunch out of spite and the guy investigating it gets lazy and bans him on the spot? Granted, the chances of these things happening are really low, but there is always the chance that they could happen. The thought that, if they did, the wrongfully accused person would have literally no means of defending themselves makes me really pissed off. There needs to be a way for people to appeal these things... TL;DR: Two changes need to happen: 1) When someone gets banned (temporarily or permanently), Bungie NEEDS to tell them why, so they have the chance to use the feedback to improve themselves. 2) There needs to be a way for people to appeal bans, for those who are either innocent, or who believe their punishment was too harsh.

1 ReplyThis is Bungie's fault. For months now I cannot play Destiny with someone on the same network without the connection turning into crap. Other games are fine though.
-
13 RepliesGet better internet, shiternet isn't a reliable when it is welfare net. I have one gig speeds, gaming is a privilege not a right.
-
The first ban is reasonable, a week for ban connection. But to be banned again for not even playing Crucible is outright ridiculous. Every time Bungie does something they seem to be getting more and more incompetent. Hell, I wouldn't even be surprised if I receive a random ban from Crucible because I hate Crucible, so I'd probably welcome it.
-
1 ReplyI think that you're clearly not cheating. It's stupid to ban someone that plays so little crucible just because you got some bad connection a few times. Meanwhile the real professional cheaters keep playing like nothing happens. Bungie/Activision must take their head off their ass and start investing in dedicated regional servers for PVP.
-
3 RepliesIf you're getting kicked with an error on a consistent basis, you have to look at your connection. I doubt you were banned for 'cheating'. You were banned for poor connection. You were probably reported a lot by other players when you were playing IB.
