Hi. I'm back from my two week ban. I usually don't ever make a post. Usually I just respond to others. But I felt that this needs to be said. So let's get down to it.
Shotguns. Yeah I know. Special weapons are pretty controversial at the moment. Half the posts on these forums are calling for sniper or shotgun nerfs. I used to only run a shotgun with a Mida or Hawksaw and I was probably that guy that people hated. However, recently I decided to switch it up. I equipped a pretty good LDR 5001 and a Hawkmoon because I got bored of my old playstyle. And the most amazing thing happened. I rarely died to shotguns. I thought to myself, "why?" And I realized that it was because I had to change my playstyle. Instead of rushing in to do battle with other shotguns, I would let my teammates bait out the enemy team so I could get some easy picks with a sniper or hand cannon and then we could clean up the others.
So what's the point. Well the point is that if you want to snipe you need to get into the sniper mentality. Your job is to sit behind your teammates and take out the enemy from range. Not run into close quarters and complain when someone shotguns or shoulder charges you. Sure you may get that nasty 420 quick scope that makes all of your friends jealous once or twice but most of the time you'll die and put your team at a disadvantage. Stop challenging shotgunners in close quarters. Learn to bait them out of close quarters. Use your grenades. Or better yet, get them to believe they can rush you and then two tap them with Hawkmoon. And shotgunners try to stay out of sniper lanes.
One last piece of advice. As a sniper, you need to know when it's time to pack and get the heck out of Dodge. Sometimes the enemy sniper is going to be better than you. That means you either need to flank for a different angle or switch to a different secondary. And when the whole enemy team is rushing you, don't just stand there hard scoping because at that point you're just feeding the other team kills. Most of the time a retreat is the better option.
Good luck out there guardians

1 ReplyI run around hitting sniper clips all the time and when i get killed by a shotty or shoulder charge i just...
dont cry nerf

because i deserved it
-
2 RepliesI got shoulder charged the other night after I ran by the dude and the animation showed him do a 180 and lunge 10 feet. Looked crazy and was kinda cool but definitely should not have happened
-
4 RepliesI usually die from shottys and shoulders when I'm in the direct path of either or. Am I special? Or is it common?
-
1 ReplySo nerf snipers and auto rifles I'm pretty much getting out of this. Then nerf fusion rifles again so doesn't look bad.
-
6 RepliesLol you forgot that cuase most of the maps are bottle neck maps in the first place sniper lanes are everywhere.
-
2 Repliesuntil you get on a team with 6 guys who all play bait and watch. no one moves and everyone stays in a corner
-
3 RepliesYo the shotgun then shoulder charge bug is in need of a fix. I'll get shotgunned the shoulder charged from the same dude
-
8 RepliesI don't think shotties are op except maybe the universal dildo but that's because it's a primary and it's the best shotgun in the game. the problem is there is no counter play to crouching shot gunners around a corner.
-
6 Repliesshoulder charge wouldnt be so bad if titans werent the most armored, most recovery and fastest subclass due to skating.
-
3 RepliesSo your saying is make the game let's see who can hardscope and get a pick and then rush, this is why year 1 was better, everyone was always moving and it wasn't I'm gonna sit here and hard scope all game
-
Yea thats fair comment...if you play in a team. Im sick of being matched with dribblers so tend to play rumble. In there its either uni remote or last word party crasher. If you sit back and wait in rumble, you lose.

3 RepliesI guess its "Super Good Advice"!!! Get it? Cuz like, the gun? Heh heh. I need friends...

18 Replies" I would let my teammates bait out the enemy team so I could get some easy picks with a sniper or hand cannon and then we could clean up the others." You should never be allowed to play a team game you coward. You mean you'd let your team die, and clean up the remaining kills. I know your type. You are the ones who make a video game not fun, because you're more interested in playing coward Go to a shooting range if you're afraid of a fight

1 ReplyGood sniper: knows to stay back, but also knows that at the opportune time it can be advantageous to move forward, change positions and God forbid even use their primary. Bad sniper: sits in the corner all day, watches their teammates die, gets a few garbage kills at their expense and then declares that they're the best because they "died last".

2 RepliesIn other words camp...10/10....would camp again.....
-
2 RepliesI rush with a sniper, and if i find your camping you better be prepared because i am coming for you with a big bang!
-
I'm not dying to those. But I am dying to snipers the vast majority of the time.

Shotguns not so bad, shoulder charge is rough. The titan build can be so fast, a titan can spawn in and cross most maps in a flash. You can snipe and rush using either the universal remote or shoulder charge. That is about the best thing with the game, so many play style options. And the old sniper close range bodyshot, quick swap to LW for the finish shots.

In terms that even a noob can understand: Properly judge your engagements, most shotgunners and shoulder charge Titans are rushers, so you follow most shots at a distance or simply back step while shooting!

Edited by DOOM 02: 9/5/2016 6:34:19 AMI can usually kill shotgunners with my own shotgun, fusion rifle, or keep a distance with my primary. but when a titan comes at me with a jug shield or force barrier, its a death or a trade. i just cant kill them fast enough with my primary and its hard to shotgun ohk them with the overshield or they tank it with the jug shield.

LOL didn't read! Because they arr OP!
Kappa

Obvious Troll is obvious.
Welcome back! Sorry about your Ban!!!

Now if only they would Jamos-proof them for me. I suck with both shotguns and snipers so much. I'm not very good to begin with but those are the two specials I am the least likely to get kills with. I do happen to be okay with Lord of Wolves but that is because it is more pulse rifle than shotgun. I wish I had the reflexes necessary to be decent with those things. Essentially with any weapon it takes about a second for my brain to register "That dude's head is in your sights". And that second will cause one of these two things to happen every time: 1) Miss horrible since they moved the heck out of the way. 2) Die horribly. That is more so to do with snipers but have had similar problems with shotguns. Though my problem with them typically involve my best ones practically being without any real sight. So I have to hope and pray I hit them in the head. These are all personal problems and I honestly just felt like getting that off my chest. But one thing that is certain is that you definitely do have to change up your playstyle depending on which you use. Seems pretty obvious, but it seems that so many go and try to be some sort of sniper or shotgunning god immediately. Making those super risky shots is awesome if done right. Most don't, so doing what you suggested is typically best.

Shotguns and Snipers do not need a nerf....primaries outside of Mida need buffed....grenades need a longer cooldown timer...supers too....I die to grenades and snipers 5 to 1 vs. a weapon.....

2 RepliesEdited by Enochua: 9/5/2016 4:29:28 AMfrom someone, such as myself, who relies mostly on primaries. sitting back with a sniper and playing as a coward, as some would say, does not reflect all aspects of the game. and to assume that you have found the perfect strategy to counter shotgunners and or shoulder charging titans is very presumptuous. you come off being very arrogant and a know it all, when the fact of the matter is with the movement options that titans have give them a clear advantage at that particular play style of being a shotgun rusher. being able to close the gap of the short and medium ranges so proficiently is what shotgunner, shoulder charging titans excel at. but I would love to introduce you to my preferred method to counter both snipers and shotgun/shoulder charging titans and that is using spare change and plan c.
