Title kinda says it all.
I just made a hunter, what do I focus on leveling up first and why?
I'm more of PvE player, but I made the hunter because they seem to be pretty boss in crucible. Or should I make a warlock for PvP? I seem to die to stormcallers a lot.
Edit: I main a titan, so please don't suggest I make a titan. He's 328 and I'm tired of the grind, plus I'd like to get another char to 40 in time for the next IB and turbo raise its light level.

I find hunters to be well rounded.

I've mained a Hunter since Beta (yes I said "Beta" so salty noobs read no further). The Hunter's jump is entirely different than the Titan or Warlock's and will take some getting used to. I prefer it because you're not a floating piñata. Blink is a lot of fun even post nerf. I put off learning blink until TTK, but it was worth the struggle. My preferred subclass is Gunslinger. I like the perks and for PvP they don't get much better - built in weapons handling perks. Stack them with handling perks and it's pure joy. For example, Chain of Woe and Gunslinger's Trance coupled with Outlaw, Range perk and Stability perk... now get a few kills and stack Chain and Woe and Gunslinger's Trance x3. I like the Tripmines even post nerf. Young Ahamkara's Spine is my go to exotic. Roll with Glass Needles to get reload on your preferred gun + fastball (grenade throw distance). The tricks to Golden Gun itself: Be patient... you have time if you popped your Super at the right moment. Don't aim down the sights... the reticle on your screen is all you need. It's a good sized red circle... place on target and squeeze trigger. The range is good without Over the Horizon but try with and without depending on maps - I love to one shot snipers from distances they can't one shot me from. Only a couple maps allow this. I do use Bladedancer and Nightstalker. Nightstalker would be my second choice. Khepri's Sting plus Shadestep plus shotgun = supreme butthurt. Predator and Quiver to shut down Supers plus the wombo combo.

Start a titan

My advice is to run with another hunter. Learn the ropes, then start testing what perks work best for you. Like someone else said, gunslinger is good for first starting out. BladeDancer is just really fun to use, and nightstalkers is great for teamwork and mobs. But I always tell someone who is first starting out on new characters, to always bring up both subclasses to unlock the melee. That covers your first grenade, jump, super and your melee. That allows you to figure out which subclass you'll like the most. And in turn, which one to work on first. Also allows you to do bounties quicker. Rather than having to rush and unlock the abilities just for a bounty. Happy leveling and I hope you enjoy being all three classes if you choose to do so. :-)

Void Arc Solar. You're welcome.

Gunslinger=Ultra/Majors Blade dancer=Crowd Clearer Nightstalker=Crowd Control

2 Repliesyou can choose what ever you wish. the trick is practicing with the character you are most familiar with. find your favourite sub class find your pvp weapon the one that u can use like a god and go kill summin its that simple. the only way ppl get good in crucible (myself included ) is lots of practice and finding what best suits you.

Make all 3. Play as you want

Use bladedancer. Check out my loadout.

Never delete any cloaks

Don't ask for nerf and you'll be fine.

Learn to hate other classes.

1 ReplyLevel up your salt level Then focus on perfecting your nerf posts Then you're good to go
-
1 Replyalso, if you feel like spending money, they have a quick level add on for each class. it'll bring you to level 25 and instantly fill one of your subclasses.

Be very aware of your surroundings and know how fast you can kill things and how fast they can kill you. Learn to shoot on the move and how to dodge. Since you were using a Titan, biggest challenge will be learning to play faster and realizing you will no longer have high survivability out in the open. Stay one step ahead of your enemies, throw trap style grenades early or in places that will stop an enemy advance or cut off their escape. When attacking figure out your escape route before you think about the way in. A dead dps is no dps. Finally, get familiar with all Hunter subs then pick the one that suits you best, that includes trying each perk at least once. I've had plenty of buddies start hunters and think they were bad because they ignored one perk or another.

Gunslinger is a very good starter class for a switch from a Titan. with triple jump you can jump fairly high, comparable but not equal to a titan. if you get the young ahamkara spine you can have 2 melees and 2 grenades, kind of comparable to the armamentarium. and you can get three OHK shots that regen very quickly with the gunfighter perk. becoming a hunter means you accept one of two handicaps, no Armor, or no Recovery. this will be your biggest learning curve and the most frustrating part of crucible until you learn how to fly as a hunter. but it will be one of your best choices in this game; you'll wish you'd done it sooner.

2 RepliesSpray salt everywhere and lick your golden gun crying nerf on every decent thing you can't get

Here's what you do
-
Step 1 Delete hunter Step 2 Make warlock
-
Nightstalker, because it has the most utility overall
-
Blade dancer for built in QuickDraw, bones of eao, better control jump, hand cannons and sidearms for aerial accuracy.
-
If you mostly play PvE make a voidwalker warlock

I play Sunsinger. For me arc blade is the biggest threat. Blink makes my ambushes and timing get thrown off and believe it or not after Sunbreaker I die most to arc blade. Just don't stand still because if you do I'll snatch you up. Nightstalker has an okay super. It's frustrating but as a whole they are much easier to kill and defend against. You like ambushing go Dancer. You like to keep a distance and pick off strays go Nightstalker. I'm a noon and havent played Hunter since Y2 release. This is more my opinion as facing them.
