Fix Trials: Only one lighthouse trip per character

[b]BEFORE YOU READ, I HAVE BEEN TO THE LIGHTHOUSE OVER 20 TIMES, CHECK MY STATS. THIS IS ABOUT THE COMMUNITY, NOT ME. ATTACK ALL YOU WANT. DEAF EARS ;)[/b] This is not an original suggestion. Many have suggested before. Of course we know the suggestion could be circumvented. Two measures can fix it. - Only one [b][u]lighthouse trip[/u][/b] per character, per week (max of 3 trips). - [b]To prevent carrier streamers from resetting cards before a flawless, make it to where the fire team must have ALIGNED CARDS. That way the system can't be circumvented. What I mean by this is, if wins on cards on the fire team do not match, then you cannot enter the activity.[/b]. Another fix could be a tier system as many suggest. The "carry" or even the steamer carry has completely taken over ToO and it's just dumb. It's become so ridiculous that the community actually has this weekly thread (this is indicative of a PROBLEM) https://www.bungie.net/en/Forum/Post/208558104/0/0 Regardless of steamers or just insane keyboard and mouse players with a massive advantage over those using a controller, there are people in Destiny who play trials merely to keep others out. You want to talk about bad for the game? Cure this cancer. For the "git gud" and "KD matters" people [spoiler]Trials is supposed to be competitive, and in it's current state it is NOT competitive for the upper skill tiers. Therefore, it is not competitive for lower tiers because they can't compete. What's ironic is that the elitist PvP players always say " playing tough opponents makes you better," yet they have no desire to play people on thier level in most cases. They jsut want to stomp casuals and feel superior. If they actually face an opponent of thier skill level, they complain that it's too hard and that they're mad lol. Total hypocrisy[/spoiler].   • Why don't they put the matchmaking system for trials down to the average flawless victories across all players, e.g if playing a team with 2 players who have never done it and one who has done it 30 times, you would have an average of 10 flawlesses, and would match with a team with that same amount, or around there. This would pair those who aren't great with others of the same experience, and move you up as you get better and perform better, preventing newbies from facing streamers carrying.

  • You could make a "flawless" only playlist but I honestly don't think that would work... The thing is all these streamers that are Carrying, they can just play without boons and reset their card at 7 wins which basically means they can continue to carry without getting placed in a "flawless division" because they haven't technically gone flawless. They could do that all the way up to an hour before reset where they go flawless on their character

    • Honestly, it's just -blam!-ing common sense. Name any other tournament where you can participate after claiming victory. All that needs to happen is that if you go flawless then you get put into a separate pool of competitors. While this will result in a (relative) smaller pool of players in trials as the weekend progresses, in theory they should be about the same skill level once all the top tier players have gone. This won't stop players from circumventing the system by not allowing their card to be completed though. This could theoretically be remedied by not allowing a card to be destroyed unless it has a loss on it OR it has been completed, this would keep players from destroying it at 8 wins just to carry more people through. It also wouldn't keep players who have gone flawless from playing and attempting to carry others, however, it will make the matches more competitive since the players they will be playing will have already gone flawless.

      • I've run into a lot of hardcore trials players. They said they love knocking people out of their wins. I mean I can't say their douchebags because I've seen hardcore pvp players enter my raid fireteam without a spindle/ToM and they say, "don't need it" then I gladly point them towards the exit.

        • So basically limit content to players who are good? Punish someone who can make it to the lighthouse by not allowing him/her to play anymore because you struggle to make it to the lighthouse?

          • I am missing something. Is the lighthouse loot available after each trials passage completed that meets requirements? I thought it was one time per week per character and any other time you go to the lighthouse after your first flawless run you are just there?

            • Sorry to say this but your system is a bit flawed. Streamers will never buy boons and carry people with boons . Then when it's like 2 hours to reset the they will go flawless for themselves.

              Nah, just make it a fair fight. Make it so you're up against your skill level up to 5 wins then incrementally increase the skill gap. Don't talk about making trials fair, op. The opinionated assholes on here don't want it to be fair. They think that more skilled players should have it easier than the worse players (who might as well be scaling Mount Everest in a soapbox derby car.) Why? Because they may put thousands of hours into this game but they don't have a lick of sense when it comes to designing a fair experience. They are worsening the skill gap. They want the bad to stay bad and the good to shit all over the bad. You shouldn't play multiplayer for thousands of hours only so you can stomp newbies. You should do it for the challenge. If you must absolutely seek validation for your dedication, it should be with a gun or other in-game item and not at someone else's expense.

                I would go a step further. On card per character per week. If you -blam!- that card up, you are done. If you make it to the lighthouse, you are done.

                I agree with you. But whatever play Rise of the Iron as new DLC then three month later new trials begins. I believe bungie will fix it and make it happen.

              • im part of the problem in trials in another way since i will cheerfully pay a good price for a flawless carry because i cant git gud, but i really want the grimoire score. it is that serious for me getting that grimoire.

              • Don't restrict it. Make it so after you go flawless you can buy another card and play again to the lighthouse against others who have already gone flawless. Then you can always get sweet loot and losers like me who can't snipe worth a damn can actually enjoy trials as much as the elite scum.

                • Bungie wont do that and tbh they shouldnt the way i look at it if you cant beat the team your playing then you dont deserve the win or the lighthouse. And it wouldnt stop people cause they will just get to 8 then discard it and get a new one and keep doing till they have helped most people.

                  Who went to the lighthouse this week should be locked to be matched ONLY against people who went there during the same week. If that guy wants to carry, the whole team will face flawless people aswell. ...but bungie doesnt care, they are celebrating 25 years of not reading their official forum, maybe try on twitter or reddit, they read those, instead.

                  • They will never do this, as Trials is the only thing that keeps this game among the top 20 Twitch streamed games. And probably 50% of the top Destiny streamers pretty much focus on Trials. It's free advertising for Bungie.
