I could not have been more frustrating reading these patch updates. They are nerfing Counterbalance. COUNTERBALANCE!
Hey Bungie, you know why people like Counterbalance? Because the vast majority of weapon perks frickin suck and Counterbalance is one of the few that is worth it. No, we don't want Exhumed, Take A Knee, Icarus, Guerilla Fighter or Surrounded on our guns. I've seen people wait weeks, MONTHS to get Counterbalance on their favorite Gunsmith weapon. What is their reward for their patience and dedication? You go & nerf it. Because popular = bad, right?
And the Hunter nerfs, oh my God. I literally just made my first Hunter too... and there goes all my desire to play it now.
Nerf after nerf after nerf... punishing people for using the best available perks and abilities instead of providing a real alternative. I love this game a lot and this hurts my soul.

1 ReplyEdited by SLlIK: 6/16/2016 1:20:59 AMI re-rolled my (currently titan equipped) Silimars Wrath at least 150 times to get my roll, it's perfect and it's my favourite gun. Hearing this breaks my heart, I always had a feeling that even though the gun is "outdated" Bungie would find a way to tarnish it. I rolled it to have Counterbalance and hip fire accuracy so that it was just an exceptionally good AR without special perks, everything on it works for every single encounter. I don't have to worry about proc'ing something, it's the same gun for every enemy. It's my baby, Bungie fūcked my baby. Y u do dis to me. Edit after reading what they did to it: lol wtf, they changed it from 90% horizontal recoil mitigation to 80%? That's what you kids are crying about? That's not a nerf, that's a rebalance. Have a cry about it, chumps.

Thank god someone made this point. I thought I was the only one.

Tbh this can open into a wider discussion about perks and their usefulness. I wonder if bungie has any stats on what gets used vs shredded most often. For instance any heavy w vacuum on it gets torn down instantly in my case. Should there be a wider stable if useful perks? Different degrees of quality in the most used ones? I'm sure it's tough to balance between what can be op, overspecialized, a "god-roll", etc. I'm sure this kind of thing came up during HoW and rocket launchers rolling with shank burn. I find myself wondering if one way to help with the constant push/pull between pvp and pve balance would be to separate them a bit via perk rolls. Pve guns roll with things like tripletap, while say crucible bounties and postgame drop with things like "deals slightly more dmg to (x class or subclass)" or how about "extra precision dmg if target is ads with a sniper" for some counter sniper pvp builds. Might fuel some interesting loadout juggling for people who play a wide variety of activities, and mitigate the whole "we want weps to feel the same in pvp and pve" thing. Hey it's an idea, never said it was good.

Edited by Cashjr23: 6/15/2016 11:57:12 PMdepends on weapon and skill...AR-d and Red Spectre are a little shaky now especially for a old, half blind guy like me...but more important is that some of us farmed for hours to get that perfect

Every time there is a major nerf I read the list and think how bad it'll make it now. You get used to playing a certain way and it's fun. For me there's always a point where it starts getting stale though. Then an update or dlc is announced and I want to play again in preperation for that. However, it's still stale. Updates/nerfs like this are good and bad. Sure they make everyone have to switch things up but that also makes things interesting again as we have to adapt to new things. I've been trying to get 1 of each type of weapon that I like like scout rifle, pulse rifle, etc and with various different elemental damage on my special and heavy to give more flexibility in load outs. This just adds to the enjoyment of playing the game. Changing things up. There are things about this update which I naturally disagree with cause I love those things that got changed, but other things I never use and hate facing are also being changed which I think is great. All in all, it's always fine the way it is and doesn't need changing but will be fine again in a month when we've adjusted to the changes.

3 RepliesIcarus and Feeding Frenzy are actually amazing perks. Exhumed, Surrounded, Danger Close, Take a Knee, and Guerilla Fighter are the most useless perks

One of my favorite snipers is : eye of the storm, feather mag, guerrilla fighter.

1 ReplyEdited by Muka Gatals: 6/15/2016 5:04:03 PMYa...the should stop nerfing anything that people like. And bufing the perks that garbage. Its stupid to destroy things that people like...its STUPID...! I main Titan. And I don't like all these Hunter nerf at all. Why nerf the bladedancer swing..just leave it alone..buff the damage. And for golden gun...make it can be 6 times in PvP and unlimited in PvE ( limited by the super duration) It is a super..player supposed to be OP...its a fun time. Other player should just running away or dead..period. Every player will have their OP time. Read..."Fun time". So low skilled PvP players can kill (read have Fun) against high skilled players too. Fun why people play this game.Regardless the skill. I tried the new Striker and Sunsinger last night on Patrol..it was more fun than before. I used the Hunter bladedancer and gunslinger..it is soso..the super are more powerful but disapear too fast. Hunter need to be buffed a big time. It is a boring class. Titan is more fun to use as a bad ass class in PVE. Feel like super hero in PvE. Hunter is too squishy nothing fun in PvE. Warlock...I don't know...its good looking tho.. They should add a firefly ..a big firefly on golden gun. Bladedancer super should last longer in PVE. Just Let peoples have Fun. hope they buff all the exotics back. Just ban them from PVP. I can do just patrol with Fun Titan all day....and use Thorn. Warlock could be fun too...Nova bomb..and slapping the minions. Or Y1 HoPF...spamming the grenades...it was fun....Y2 HoFP is garbage..totally Hunter...meh...squishy...the only good with Hunter is precision jump. But I am not in monkey business..just jumping all over the place without shoting anything..

Lookin for 2 to farm grasp of malok. Must be hunter with celestial nighthawk armor piece. Add blaccoutdadon

I agree. The purpose of nerfing something is because that something is too overpowered. Final round+LitC= 1 KO body shot. Thats overpowered Blink shotgun- Ok you can nerf that. But nerfing a perk that wasnt giving people an unfair advantage to begin with is ludicrous. Especially when you have garbage perks that are completely useless right now. ( looking at you guerilla warfighter, exumed, last stand, take a knee, and rodeo) So what bungie saying is that if you use a perk / weapon more than any other, that warrants a nerf. That's not how you balance a game.
-
Dude calm down. You cabt notice a difference. Although i will agree some perks need changes.

I've not noticed a change on my haakon's hatchet. Still shreds and still shoots where I point. Maybe get better at maintaining your fire and learn to lead shots and you won't rely on a perk so heavily.

Edited by theBaDRaD: 6/15/2016 8:10:44 PMThis ... Been asking since first weapon balance e 2014 People r crazy whipped on bungie N ever DLC etc. The perk tables get worse n worse..... Bungie chops down - nerf - remove Rather than making competitive alternatives Wait til "RoI" light increase is around 365 (I thought it was abit funny in the stream when this came up) Shits gonna feel like....wait a minute.....dfaq...? Longest road possible to an outcome that had a much easier solution..... Which........wait for it
allowed them to drag out the game play and make more money all while leading players right back to where they started.....
1 ReplyI remember the (pve) argument 18 months ago about power creep. This is how those type of forum goers would defend the nerfs. Granted, this patch not much was nerfed in pve but i gotta ask as a noob: is there a name for the opposite of power creep? I think we've been experiencing that for quite some time. The nerfs have far outweighed the buffs in an attempt to appease the pvp crowd. Seems the best choice would be to separate the 2 completely. What do i know

3 RepliesMan- you are severely behind the times if you think this is anything new. Mythoclast, Pocket Infiniti, Suros Regime, Hopscotch Pilgrim, Red Death, Thorn, The Last Word, Ice Breaker, MIDA, and many other incredible weapons have been nerfed into oblivion... Final round, double down, field scout, counterbalance, and other useful perks (as well as reforging) have also been nerfed into oblivion. Why?? Because Bungie doesn't like the thought of people getting 'God rolls' in weapons and wrecking shit in PvP. When you think about it- EVERY DAMN NERF has been due to PvP! Pretty soon we will all be shooting water guns and some idiot will still cry that a scout water gun is OP. It will never end- as proven by the fact that this shit is still happening 2 years later...

6 RepliesThe Icarus perk makes me want to thro my controller. Such a terrible perk...
-
Feeding frenzy is a great perk man, just depends on the weapon you get it for.
-
The real problem is the god awful recoil pattern on a lot of guns. All of the hakke pulse rifles are unusable without counterbalance because their recoil pulls so hard to the left. If without counterbalance a gun is useless then the problem is not the popularity of the perk, but the inherent weaknesses of the weapon.
-
No joke I half feel like they do this because casual players get guns and don't check perks and go into crucible and are like "oh why is his gun so much better?" Then complain.
-
They make these perks that work well and then they make perks that suck. Instead of making good perks all around and make you actually have to choose what to use. Lets see counter balance or a perk that takes bullets away.

Edited by GrundleBeans: 6/15/2016 6:26:00 PMThe majority of changes they made to Hunters were actually BUFFS.
