I could not have been more frustrating reading these patch updates. They are nerfing Counterbalance. COUNTERBALANCE!
Hey Bungie, you know why people like Counterbalance? Because the vast majority of weapon perks frickin suck and Counterbalance is one of the few that is worth it. No, we don't want Exhumed, Take A Knee, Icarus, Guerilla Fighter or Surrounded on our guns. I've seen people wait weeks, MONTHS to get Counterbalance on their favorite Gunsmith weapon. What is their reward for their patience and dedication? You go & nerf it. Because popular = bad, right?
And the Hunter nerfs, oh my God. I literally just made my first Hunter too... and there goes all my desire to play it now.
Nerf after nerf after nerf... punishing people for using the best available perks and abilities instead of providing a real alternative. I love this game a lot and this hurts my soul.

345 RepliesFeel free to share what changes you would like to see with other Perks in the future and I will pass them on. Have you played much with the Counterbalance changes? What are your thoughts, is the Perk completely ruined or just toned down a bit? Sincerely interested in everyone's opinions.
-
Nerf? I was sort of scared when I heard about it, but they toned it down from 90 to 80 percent. That's nothing. I don't notice a difference at all.
-
In HOW they added a bunch of intentionally bad perks to water down the perk table and try to prevent "god rolls" with the re-rolling system. Unfortunately they got rid of re-rolling instead of tweaking it to make it more balanced, and just left all the crappy perks in the game. Those bad perks also seem to have a higher chance to appear on weapons and gear than the older, better perks. Bungie couldn't balance a sheet of paper on a table.

Icarus is an awesome perk...
-
Exactly. Its the same for my hunter. This is what we need.
-
Can definitely agree with this
-
My Nechrocasm and Mythoclast need to be buffed
-
Destiny is what happens when you want every one to feel "legendary" at every aspect of a game.
-
just need to make it so everyone turns into the same class-no perks, same weapon- no perks. everyone be the same and when we all get second place(cant have any winners) we all get a trophy sent by usps.

1 ReplyIt's starting to concern me that bungie keeps giving us perks, abilities and weapons, then turn around and say their unbalanced...without us ever having misused them. Things like: Gjallahorn, original mythocast, early suros regime, elemental primaries, Y1 raid weapons, shotguns, final round snipers, Thorn, Ice breaker, Original titan hammers, early blade dancers, early storm callers, rangefinder, shot package, Mida, hand cannons, The Last Word, early fusion rifles, throwing knives, twilight garrison, firebolts, double shadestep, blink, blink strike, smoke grenades, original rocket proximity detention, etc. Granted, many of those things had no equal (which is the real issue IMO) which made them seem OP...but isn't that what game testers are for?????? Did they NOT expect us to double shadestep? Or use firebolts? How about twilight garrison? Who approved these things without checking to see if they where "Too powerful"? I get some things got "re-balenced" based on player feedback, but the side effects of some of these seem pretty easy to predict. But, thats just my opinion.
-
So just keep buffing everything until what? Everyone is one shot kill in PvP. You have to nerf to bring things down to where the game is playable (think of it as a baseline where combat actually happens as a back and forth exchange). Everyone being OP is not the answer.

1 ReplyThe nerf to field scout and now counterbalance are the two perk related nerfs that I have felt the most. Many weapons have too much recoil to use consistently, even with perfect balance... If you nerf counterbalance, lateral recoil should be nerfed as well across the board. People have to search for these good rolls to make some weapons even usable. With the majority of perks being ones that are very situational, and relatively useless... You have to go through so many weapons to get one that is at least usable. in the last week I got 3 scouts that I was excited for when I saw them drop. All 3 had guerrilla fighter and exhumed... one treads upon stars, rapier, and the coe one... Those perks are basically useless, and I've seen an increase in the drop of guerrilla fighter and exhumed lately. I want perks that effect fun stability, range and reload speed... Perhaps even impact and magazine size. Y1 by far had a better perk structure for weapons. I had a hard time deciding which weapon to use. Now, I just use a couple, which is a shame... What good are individualized weapons, when you're only using one of two because the rest aren't worth considering unless you god roll them.
-
they nerfed it caused all an individual weapon's recoil was unrecognizable when it had near max stability. some weapons kick just srtaight up ors goes a bit left or right and some are inconsistent. they made those recoils to make the gun you choose a bigger and more personal decision. (as if youre given them all or even unlock, and its not just rng) i imagine the conversation went like this bungie employee (all children)-"waaah wahhh wahh my job was useless. i designed all these recoil patterns and now people made them obsolete by stabilizing them. why would they do this? wahh waaaah." big boss- "its ok, well fix it dont worry. here some more money that they threw at us. you can have it. dont worry well this" results: your counter balance nerf. [ this conversation is just a satirical joke convo]

2 RepliesNext update We decided to buff counterbalance back to original strength. We realized it was retarted and fired the guy who came up with the idea.
-
Counterbalance feels the same tbh. The nerf is barely noticeable
-
Git GUD. The nerf is barely noticeable. Honestly I didn't even know until you said it
-
I've said this before but get rid of injection mold completely. It's just a shit version of hand laid stock

1 ReplyDid feeding frenzy get a ninja nerf it doesn't reload as fast as it use to

No, we don't want Exhumed, Take A Knee, Icarus, Guerilla Fighter or Surrounded on our guns. [/quote] Calm down cobra. There are plenty of other good perks to choose from and still, a lot of players will only accept Counterbalance if it's available. Why is that? It's because it makes every recoil pattern entirely predictable. If every weapon we use operates with vertical recoil, there is no nuance between weapons and how they handle. The end result is that there is no adaptation on our part to a weapon's natural recoil pattern, which Bungie has gone to great lengths to make unique. Stability tones it down but has no where near the effect of Counterbalance. Just be thankful it's even an available perk and that it eliminates 80% of horizontal recoil.

dude makes a constructive and helpful post: gets 5 upvotes Dude makes a whine + cry post: gets 250+ upvotes. good times.

I recently made a Warlock and have grinded during exams to get lvl 40. It was great fun to play, with all three subclasses very viable in the crucible with my play style. But these nerfs have made my Sunsinger subclass tree perks useless and I am sad
-
The game is a big beta test
-
3 RepliesIt's odd, counterbalance on my guns never shows an actual increase on any stat line.
-
Because it makes to much sense.
-
Exhumed, last stand and guerilla fighter all have such a limited amount of possibility to be used, the advantage when the perk procs should be worthy of how little the perk can activate. Imo. A perk that requires you or others to be dead is a waste of a perk node.

Speak for yourself I wanted a HC with Icarus for months now
