A letter to snipers, thank you
After countless games of getting my head blown off around Every. Single. Corner. From across the map to as close as 10 feet away, I was getting wrecked by you sorty bastards and I saw no end in sight.
But instead of comming to these forums and complain, I went to my vault and leveled up every weapon I had. I start experimenting with different loadouts.
Afterwards I started to learn about my surroundings and being aware. You need that special ammo crate more than I do, so I memorized the timer and camp it so you wont get it.
You hardscoping that corner? Thats cool, I titan skate [u]everywhere[/u]. So by the time you take those extra two seconds to re-aquire your aim it takes 1 second to throw a flashbang and dome with this Saterianne rapier with high caliber rounds.
I learned to play smart thanks to you bastards and I thank you for that. Go look at my last 5 games on my titan. I went 40 kills with a 8.0 kd on frontier. 25 kills on bannerfall with a 3.0 kd
Yup, I got gud now. You wont hear no salt post from about snipers no matter how bullshit they are. Here some advice for ppl that struggle with snipers.
High caliber rounds are your friends.
Dont stay out in open areas too long
Use a emote to look around corners
Only engage when your weapon in its effective range ( to increase flinch)
And last don't complain to bungie because its obvious at this point that like warlocks, snipers will never get nerfed because thats how they want it to be. Cant really change that. You're gonna have to adapt.

Edit: to the people that cant do math. You divide the number of kills with the number of deaths. 25÷8 = 3.125 I rounded down. I hate these forums, you all dismissed my entire post because of this. Goodness people

The problem isn't the snipers, it's the lag and the primary weapons. 1) The lag makes it so that by the time the bullets arrive to flinch the sniper, he already fired his shot. This is only compounded by the fact that due to the lag the sniper actually fired the shot before you experience it. 2) Primary weapons are at a really bad spot right now. The TTK is simply too slow so people want the ability to one-shot while being relatively safe from others. I have been able adapt to the hardscope meta, especially given that I generally use a sniper as my special anyways. My issue isn't that I am getting stomped by snipers. My issue is that people are so passive in higher-end lobbies that it makes the matches un-fun.

I agree with you about Warlocks and Snipers being fine. The problem with snipers is people are relying on their specials too much AGAIN. Shotguns are sorted out, so people need a new special weapon that 1 hits: the sniper. This is why you rarely see FRs and Sidearms because they aren't reliable enough to 1 shot. People are forgetting that specials are not their primaries!

If it takes more than a second to reacquire a target, they're not real snipers. And in truth, a second is a hell of a long time itself. Sounds like OP was roughing up some scrubs.

I make it a point to Hunt down camping snipers. I run with Mida and a Sidearm (Iron Wreath or Havoc Pigeon) I counter with mida or close the gap and rush them with the sidearm. I force them into a gunfight as much as possible.

Some of what you posted seemed a bit arrogant but aside from that you are right. There are ways to challenge snipers and it makes for some interesting gameplay. You have to be smart! Never poke your head around a corner twice, especially if you see that red glow. More importantly just know that you have to be agile and take smart routes.... you gotta be patient. You need to steal all the special ammo crates. And boom, before you know it.... you are a better player for it. I enjoy the challenge. When I see the roster full of last words and snipers.... I throw on my trustee Plan C and riggety wreck.

Had a year 1 Badger with HCR and Zen, thing still tears up snipers but it's stuck at 170. Still working on getting a new 61-impact HCR SR, I've had several 61-Impacts drop for me but none are coming with HCR. Last night had a new Badger from a Vanguard package, was so exited just to be disappointed with useless perks :( Till then, I'll settle for my C-Duty and continue to dream. NOTE: Most 61-impacts can compete with Snipers. A sniper with Unflinching is difficult though.

gg Congrats on your improvements. As a sniper, I'd honestly much prefer playing against someone like you. Playing in the 'obvious' spots and hardscope games are the worst part of destiny. For that reason, I often hate the more sniper oriented maps. Hopefully you'll get some snipers to up their game in the same way they did yours. I'd love to see more people playing with more exciting angles, and all the while you're messing with the sniper lanes, you are doing the game a favour.
