Bad comparison. Guns are a form of self-defense. Stripping guns and making them illegal won't make the wrong doers with guns say, "Oh shit. Now guns are illegal. Better turn mine in... So much for that school shooting I was planning". The bad guys will always get their hands on guns. Legal or not. Taking guns will only decrease the protectors who have guns who can stop the crimes.

  • After Australia banned guns in 1996 they haven't had a mass shooting since. I wonder why.

  • Over 3.5 per 100,000 US citizens die of gun related homicides. 0.06 UK citizens per 100,000 die of guns- we have trained police for a reason...

  • #1 murder weapon is the hammer, so obviously guns don't make it that much easier. Congratulations! You've fallen for the media boogeyman. Enjoy being scared of the big bad guns. I worry more about drunk drivers myself.

  • Lol. Talk yourself into a corner then try to fall back on "hurr durr you're retarded". By your own words, if guns aren't the top killing or crime item, then guns aren't the top issue. Crime is. Fail. I think the extra chromosome belongs to you.

Crime cannot be removed, but guns can. Fail.

  • But guns aren't the top crime or killing item. Hammers and alcohol are, so by your own logic, we need to ban hammers and alcohol before we need to worry about gun problems. In fact, if you move to a country that doesn't have guns, you don't have to worry about them (more or less), but guess what EVERY country has: alcohol. So, globally speaking, alcohol is a far more serious problem than guns. You can't get away from it. So, going by your own words, alcohol is an issue that should be addressed before guns. The fail is yours, sir.

  • Guns are designed to kill, yes, but they don't kill as many people as other items that aren't designed to kill. If you want to save lives like you claim to, why are you not attacking issues that cause far more deaths a year? Because you give in to the media boogeyman. The fail is still yours.

  • your problem is that statistic includes criminal on criminal (vast majority) and suicides(2nd largest category). actual person on person gun murders in the US are more rare than murders with cars(drunks kill over 30,000 a year), knives/screwdrivers, and blunt objects. and for most it's a crime of passion. they walked in on their SO cheating on them and killed one and/or both. mass murders are very statistically rare in the US. it's usually someone batshit insane that wants a reversal of their perceived current power/control of others ratio and goes out to attack people in a defenseless area. once confronted they typically either surrender, or commit suicide (either directly or by cop)

  • it's not. the so called annual gun violence death toll the media likes to parade around as children dying annually is mostly criminal on criminal (gang) violence including people up to 25 as children, followed by suicides. take those factors out because they don't count and the actual number of homicides by firearm is lower than the annual number of deaths from other categories. the media just doesn't cover or make as big of a fuss about the other things since there are no ratings or political gains to be had(yes, the TV stations and hollywood in general have massive political slants) and thus there is a massive perception bias.
