I'm sure we're all aware of the simple bill that was passed is North Carolina which stated that people had to use the bathroom of the sex that was on their birth certificate. Though this bill is pretty useless & wouldn't even affect anyone (because no one would be outside of restrooms checking birth certificate) they decided to escalate this simple bill into a bigger issue.
If North Carolina doesn't remove this bill, the federal government has stated that they will cut government funding to the entire state. We might as well remove the 10th amendment, since I guess it's not important.
To me this is no more than bullying & trying to force a state to follow through with the agenda their pushing. Anyone that thinks It's ok to allow the federal government to stop giving billions of dollars (which is used for federal aid for schools, highways and housing) is disgusting.
The fact that is gone this far is sad & really makes you question just how corrupt and biased the government really is. North Carolina is in the process of suing the federal government & I honestly hope they win. If not, I'm sure people won't take it & they'll fight back.

1 Replyhttp://www.ncleg.net/Sessions/2015E2/Bills/House/PDF/H2v1.pdf Part 1 basically defines what types of bathrooms there are and establishes that you gotta use the the bathroom that matches the gender on your birth certificate. As Coco says, there's no way they can enforce this; there's no cop outside each bathroom asking you to drop your pants for verification. If you're a post-op transsexual and you walk into the bathroom of your new gender no one is going to notice. The problem arises from identifying yourself as the opposite gender before any sort of operation; if a bald and bearded 40-year-old man walks into a women's restroom saying "Don't worry, I'm a woman in a man's body" don't be surprised if that doesn't exactly reassure anyone. Section 1.2 (c) is the part that states that if a local board of education wants to create single-occupancy restrooms so as to accommodate transgender ppl they are free to do so, but they can't accommodate transsexuals wanting to use multiple occupancy bathrooms. Refer back to what I said before about the problem that arises from pre-ops trying to use the wrong restroom. Section 1.2 (d) Lists exceptions to the rule, in this case all exceptions are basically anyone who is in the bathroom doing maintenance and the like. Part 2 Talks about preemption under the Wage and Hour Act. It states that a city or county cannot require a business to follow employment or business practices that the said city or county wants. You can't make any business accommodate transsexuals into their corresponding bathrooms if they don't want to. If they do however, that's all fine and dandy. Part 3 covers the legality of discriminatory practices involving employment and accommodations and to be honest this is where I get kind of lost. I'll look back over it tomorrow and edit this when I can.

i think its like when a random adult scolds a kid for the kid's benefit NC is losing tons of business if i remember correctly, and would face terrible downfalls if they dont get some of it back. federal gov. is like "no. this bad. lets not get terrible state economy, yeah?" overstepping for their benefit

1 ReplyI just don't get something. When are you considered trans? Like Caitlin Jenner is labeled as a trans. But that's just a man with long hair and makeup. Isn't that a cross dresser ? I'm so lost.
-
3 RepliesThis wouldn't be an issue if people didn't change their gender.
-
2 RepliesThis is just bullying from the federal government and just shows how they love to overstep their boundaries. I don't even see why we have congress anymore since it seems every time Obama enacts something he just uses "Executive power" which is completely unconstitutional.
-
8 RepliesRemind me again why everyone tries so hard to pander to a small minority? Less than 5% of the US is gay so even a smaller amount would be applicable for this. I say just add a third bathroom that says "it" on the door! Problem solved!
-
1 ReplyThe law is retarded plain and simple. There is no way to enforce it, and anyways who cares? Trans people have been using whichever bathroom they prefer for years and not a single incident. I live in NC, some people here are so backwards about stuff it's ridiculous. But the government is overstepping their bounds, they seem to do that a lot lately.
-
Damn straight I'm with the states. Big gov is trying to stick it's nose up everybody's asses these days and we need to end it.
-
1 ReplyDefinitely siding with NC on this one. They did virtually nothing wrong and now the feds want to completely cut funding to the entire state? Sounds like some bullshit to me.
-
Fucking hate PC shit
-
NC can do what it wants...it just won't get any Federal funding. :)
-
Considering pretty much the same thing was done with the whole gay marriage thing... It's laughable that a state would think it could win a lawsuit against the federal government/Supreme Court... If something is done to help create a fairer and more equal society - then good! If some states are a little slow or less willing to co-operate and the Supreme Court has to get involved... That shouldn't matter, As long as progress is made.

1 ReplyIf they were, there would be an actual revolution happening right now (not a political one which is aiming to reform the political system internally). So far, all I hear is talks of people saying they want to take their country back, but then they're keyboard warrioring each time they say it rather than actually getting up and doing something about it. tl;dr: No, they haven't.

The Federal government uses those kinds of threats all the time. A state will act in a completely legitimate matter, but the Feds will disagree with whatever was done. A lawsuit gets filed, but it's usually more of a formality than anything. Inevitably, the court says, "Sorry USFG, but the state is entirely within its authority to do this." So, since it can't win politically, the Federal Government goes for a financial win. They'll revoke all federal funding unless the state complies. It's a bastardization of federalism. Also, states can win these fights. My state, Idaho, complied with the Feds for a while. When the money came, we stopped complying. The Feds took us to court, claiming that we needed to give the money back. We won the case. Shitty way to enforce federalism, but at the moment it's all we have.

That's f*cken bull sh*t!!!!

1 ReplyASSIMULATE TO THE 0.7% OF THE POPULATION!!!!!!!!!

1 ReplyWelp, hopefully this next civil war is more interesting than the last one.

2 RepliesWhat if I get a sex change? My birth certitude ate says male by I got changed to a female, so then there would be a girl in the guys room. (This is the one flaw in the law$

Edited by Sturm with no Drang: 5/11/2016 4:26:43 AMFed Government sucks in its current state and people are becoming more thinskinned and oversensitive to matters that can be considered offensive. Who would even use a public restroom anyway? That's just plain gross.
-
7 RepliesIt makes sense to me, if you're not willing to follow Federal laws, you shouldn't take Federal funds... There are plenty of Federal laws that don't make sense to me, but they are laws nonetheless... Follow them or support yourselves...

Now now now, I'm not telling you people that your union doesn't matter, I'm just telling you that you're not really... people.

4 RepliesFirst I would like to say I love this country. America is a great place to live and I will always feel that way. There is something I need to say though. If you don't like it don't do it, but don't jump on your high horse and try to tell me what I can and can't do. I don't think abortion is right so guess what I have safe sex and only have one kid. I'm not going to tell someone else that they can't have an abortion just because I don't want one. I love my guns if you don't then don't buy one. I don't care what bathroom anyone uses so why the hell should anyone else. It drives me nuts to see the ignorance and arrogance of some people. Instead of making America great again, let's focus on making America more free. Then we can focus on things like the middle east china and russia. I am off my soap box now.

The national government is gonna win.
-
Honestly isn't it on the state for overstepping first? Whole thing is made up and sensationalist.
-
It's sad that it's not the Local and state governments that are really being hurt by this, it's the people.

I live in North Carolina! These people are stoopid! Go to your genders bathroom! If u are not a male or female, go take a piss in the woods! If u changed ur gender, good for u go in the gender u changed to's bathroom! pLZ
