Wow, guys. Just, wow. We are now going to run out of sniper ammo insanely fast when fighting all the bosses. "Ok, I'll use my quillim's terminus!", you say? Yeah, nope. They nerfed that too.
This was not the way to go, guys. I'm constantly running out of ammo every damage cycle on the War Priest and every time in the Shade phase of the Oryx battle as it is now.
This is going to increase raid difficulty and let the more effective players do even less to make up for their less accurate brethren.
2 cycle war priest? Not anymore. 2 cycle Golgy? Idk, I usually run the gaze, but I doubt that too. Finish the Shade reliably? Nope! Now we're going to need weapons of light and tethers in the shade.
FML, bungie. I like both PvE and PvP. But you guys really, really don't give a damn about PvE'ers, do you?
I don't do these rants, but damn. I raid three times a week and i have to endure wipe after wipe already caused by random PUG guys who just aren't quite awesome at the stuff.
Now the struggle bus is gonna throw another axle bearing, thanks to this retarded "Oh, people are getting sniped. Let's nerf ammo into the freaking ground!" solution of of yours.
GG, Bungie. GG.
Edit: Because some people either don't understand how the raid boss battles work or how ammunition works with them.
For those who are going to post that the special drops are being increased, read the next section about how the King's Fall raid boss battles work:
Basically, King's Fall was designed around standing as a group basically in one spot and putting lots of highly concentrated damage on the target down range in a short window of time.
Snipers are obviously the way to do this with the most efficiency because all of these targets have precision or critical damage spots.
While you are standing in these "Put damage on target" zones, it is usually not possible to move around and pick up ammo that dropped somewhere else on the map, nor is it advisable to enter the menu to "pop a synth".
And keep in mind, ammo synthesis have that 5:00 minute cooldown timer. So I can't see how we're not going to be digging heavily into primary ammo for these, with our special and heavy exhausted, once the patch goes in.
I, personally already do this now quite often. I don't see how this doesn't translate into at least lower damage against raid bosses per damage cycle.
Edit: Changed title to better reflect the topic content and added relevant tags. Somebody said this needs to get addressed. Let's go, guys! Git 'er done! Be loud and obnoxious!
Edit: Afterthought that I'm not really against the sniper "tuning" for the crucible. That said, I have never seen somebody with full sniper ammo break the game.
Edit: Over 2,000 posts in this thread, folks. We were atop the trending list for about 36 hours. Nobody more important than Xur has bothered to stop by. You'd think at least Butthurt would be around by now.
Edit: TL:DR... The sniper ammo nerf is going to negatively affect the KF boss fights. We need to snipe the bosses a lot really fast while not running around picking up all the ammo that's going to be raining from the sky or having time to pop a synth.

31 RepliesI don't remember the last time I ever had to pop an ammo synth other than heavy. Do you really suck that bad that you run out of sniper ammo at the boss fights? Do you use a sniper after your done fighting golgoroth? If you have to use a sniper it's probably because you don't have the ToM. The only way you don't have that is if you either just started the game, or you're lazy. Either way, if you run out of sniper ammo in the raid, you suck and as the elite players would put it, you need to "Git Gud".

3 RepliesPeople will have to change strategies. I'm guessing going from heavy to special to primary. I'm also guessing the new light levels will quickly close the gap. I'm also guessing, totally guessing, they did play test the raids and the new light levels made things too easy so the changes actually balance everything out.

5 RepliesWill King's Fall drop 330 or 335 gear after the update? Anyone know for sure? I've heard conflicting information about this.
-
5 RepliesDid we hear the bit about sniper ammo inventory being reduced and then go deaf to the part about special ammo boxes being dropped more frequently? If anything you just need to get used to moving around more during the raid. Q.Q

3 RepliesThe only fight this will change is warpriest.

1 ReplyBungie goes full retard yet again.
-
7 RepliesUgh I got half way, let me know ahead of time when your writing a book, so I don't waste my time.
-
Golgoroth shouldn't change because of the ammo runs and increased brick drop rate. But warpriest and oryx...idk
-
6 RepliesI really don't think a 5-7 round decrease will make much of a difference. Just use heavy and primary a little more to compensate and you may have to plan to use a synth once in a while. I dismissed it in year one, but is anybody curious about using Queenbreakers bow in the raid? I am.

I gave up after the very first special ammo nerf in PvP. I knew they wouldn't stop until every weapon deals the same damage and has equal ammo. Lame as lame can get.
-
1 ReplyOh MY GOD PVE IS GOING TO BE CHALLENGING NOW... Go back to the Division
-
14 RepliesWaaah! We have to actually fight against all the Warpriest abilities now! Waaah! Golgoroth takes more than 2 minutes!!! Waaahhhh! Waaaahhhh!

When you team up on LFG, prepare to see the words: "Enrage is near"
-
2 RepliesNo matter what you say, bungie wants you to play it their way. I personally don't care for this childish mindset, but what can you do.
-
Not a raider, would like to, but I still don't get why in the year 2016 developers still refuse to separate PvP buffs/nerfs from PvE buffs/nerfs.
-
10 RepliesNo its not between each cycle you have more than enough time to pick up ammo
-
4 Repliesconsidering the max light dropping from kf hard is 330 i dont think it will be getting completed 3 x a week anymore... rip raid
-
15 RepliesEdited by Beguiler: 4/9/2016 1:12:32 PMI can see the argument here, but I disagree. Yes we will have less in reserve during the actual DPS phase of the two bosses required. (I'm not counting Oryx in this) While we will run out of ammo faster, I don't think it will be THAT big of an impact. Most of us will have snipers up in the 330 range soon enough so I doubt the ammo will be as noticeable. Since they won't be scaling Kings Fall up in level, our damage will probably outweigh the ammo. Besides, it's really not THAT big of a deal lol. Oh no, we need to go one more round with the Warpriest... How ever will we survive lol
-
Uhhhh learn to pick up ammo?
-
1 ReplyUse sleeper.
-
1 ReplyOn the flip side of this argument, Light is being raised to 335 so your damage potential is, at the very least, breaking even given the Sniper ammo change. Im not defending this change, just an observation :)
-
1 Replythey lowkey made Warlocks even more useless for raids

1 ReplyThis was my first thought when I read the update. Boss fights are taking a huge hit for this update. I am very disappointed with Bungie on this one. I'm truly weary of watching PVE get nerfed for the sake of PVP. I don't know if I can remember a PVE nerf that was not originally prompted by someone complaining about PVP. Many of the things found in the new update seemed good to me, but the sniper ammo nerf for PVE has ZERO reason given.

1 ReplyYou ought to edit the post to let people know raid Difficulty is going up to reccomended 320 light for normal and 330 for heroic, to many people seem to think they will be 330 light fighting 310 enemies. Bungie isn't going to increase the light on the drops and leave the difficulty the way it is, use your heads.

Once again PvE suffers because of PvP
