Seems like most of the new armor can just be purchased and then immediately infused to 335 if you have the 335 gear to infuse it.
Infusable gear is not Vanity gear specially with the new infusion method.
Yeah...."lots of new gear to earn." By Deej....or you can just buy it immediately....
Edit: Would you go to an Arcade to buy the prizes or did you go to play for tickets and then get the crappy toys? I know anyone under the age of 25 has no idea what an Arcade is...so Chuck cheeses...
Bungie doesn't actually know what Vanity gear is...and that you have a chance to get an XP boost for Vanguard and Crucible from something with silver....now that is more than bummer.
Super lame bungie.
Edit: I am seeing more threads about nerfs rather than purchasable infuse able gear and purchasable Reputation Gain items. That is horrible. Having a chance to get more XP boost allows for more Faction Packages and a higher chance to get better weapons and better rolls then those who don't have money to spend. That is
F U C K I N G outrageous. Almost as outrageous as censoring your forums.

1 Replyits nothing you cant get in game so I don't see what the problem is. The rep boosts can be gotten from playing as well. There's no guarantee of getting a rep boost when you buy it and the rewards from the rank ups are still random. The gear from the boxes breaks down into chroma so there is nothing to be gained from buying a ton and breaking it down. Even if you spend $100 on the boxes as soon as they come out you wont have the infusion fodder to make it 335 right away. Yeah they have random rolls so you have the chance to get "god rolls" at will but it would get bloody expensive pretty fast.

8 RepliesI wouldn't shed an ounce of blame at Bungie. I can only imagine how much their team is fighting against micro transactions. Activision on the other hand is looking at current micro transaction sales and sees that it's not meeting their quota, so they force Bungie to implement all this new armor that was probably originally going to just be earned in game. The reason I believe this is because this is the same shady spit that Activision pulled on Treyarch, and cut content for season pass holders and put it into its micro transaction system. All because their micro sales didn't meet expectations. Ha, even when they released that cut content into their micro transaction system, the head of Treyarch took a 2 week vacation. Probably due to the backlash he knew he would get. And he fought against this, just like I believe Bungie is fighting as well. Activision is a horrid cancer to the gaming industry and I don't see a cure happening anytime soon.

1 ReplyDestiny is a dead game, they're just screwing the little fan that are left to put more cash on the table. No content, broken rng, lagged connections, boring end-game content, be it raid or osiris, pay-to-win, no more community spirit... Just watch some streams, it's mainly broken fingers girls prostituting themselves as in a sexchat to get some kids to jerk on their screens and then the weekend come the ToO carries asking for $20 for a lighthouse lollll. Man how pitiful this game and community has turned into is beyond my comprehension. I used to love this game so much, now it's only pathetic and time waster. Gaming is certainly the only industry in which we can see such failures in terms of business/management without any action. It's intolerable/astonishing that a few ego driven dickheads who have no background, understanding, vision or curriculum were given freeway to ruin a star product that ATVI put so much money and confidence into it. Seems like they have been too focused with attracting the girl segment and Bungie trying to show them they can do girly stuff. Sad to say, but so many beautiful games are out now and so many more are coming, it'd be too much a shame to waste time on a relic of the past that is just recycling content. Bungie, bug adders, fun rip-ers

2 RepliesI'm so glad i stopped playing this game back in Oct. I've been wounding if Bungie will do right, but all they seem to be doing since ttk came out. Is make things worse. What happened to wanting to make and actual game, and wanting to keep your fanbase happy? Not lets see how far theses fools will keep paying with little effort of actually bringing this game to its potential. 7 more years of this shit? Hell -blam!-ing no if ill be wasting my money on a half ass game.

Get rekt players.

All year 1 was that way so why would you pay cash for it? Also who the hell wants to play POE anyway? Talk about a waste of time.

3 RepliesHalf? Jesus I hope you don't have to use math on a daily basis ._.

4 RepliesIt's not like the new gear has unique perks or something that give people a major advantage, it just looks neat.

1 ReplyEdited by CMoneyStreth: 3/31/2016 3:16:37 PMGo ahead and let people water down their experience by buying stuff with cash, I'll just get it the normal way and not spend a dime and have more to do because of it, something to work towards.

2 RepliesNo matter how much new gear you buy with real money, you will still have to earn the 335 gear. I don't see what the problem is.
-
Console gaming by way of Dave and Busters.

1 ReplyI for one am unhappy with getting the new gear via money. We're locked out of rewards for the week after 3 OR you can just buy more and more. So basically it's exactly like the south park episode game example. You have a limited amount you can get unless you buy more. It's disgusting. Canadian Satan has taken over Destiny development
-
There isn't any content to buy but I get what you mean.

Two points: 1.) This is not free DLC. At first I thought Bungie was releasing this DLC as marketing to help with sales of the "large expansion" and Destiny 2. But now it's clear they plan to pay for this DLC with micro-transactions. This is basically a micro-transaction DLC and anyone not paying for silver is a free-loader. 2.) OP states:
Bungie doesn't actually know what Vanity gear is...and that you have a chance to get an XP boost for Vanguard and Crucible from something with silver....now that is more than bummer.
Bungie knows. They've been riding a fine line between cosmetic items and pay-to-win ever since they started selling micro-transactions. Bungie and Activision know that pay-to-win games like League of Legends make billions. And they know they'd lose 95% of players if they went pay-to-win overnight. Keep up the pressure on them.

2 RepliesOk, so you have to buy gear that starts off at Worse Light than a Generalist Shell. OK. Just like how the Momentum Gear came at abysmal light level, and you needed to infuse it in order to use it. I DON'T SEE A PROBLEM, except that it costs money. It might TECHNICALLY pay to win, but the gear you'd be getting from it would be the same level as the FREE SRL gear.

Jeez people just like try to find something to bitch about

8 RepliesEdited by PhantomBrown: 3/31/2016 2:47:43 PMThere's always people who look at it with glass half empty isn't there. What about the people who don't have time to grind but still want to look cool? The kicker is you still have to do the content to get high level gear to infuse. Really starting to get sick of the whining here.
-
It drops at 3 defense, you have to infuse it to make it viable .-., to infuse you need to get the gear to infuse into that 3 def armor piece. Bungie is doing good, now you can get cosmetic items for $$, but if you want to actually use that item and have it be worth something, as in something for more than just in the tower, you can. They don't just give away free chit. They give you something that looks cool, that you don't have to get but if you want to actually use it and have your $ be worth something, you can.
-
Hey I'm pretty sure they said you can earn some for free every week too...
-
Don't know what world you live in where you think anyone under 25 doesn't know what an arcade is. Must be really isolated there bud
-
And lets not forget the sterling treasure is probably gonna drop the rep gain consumables at the same rate as ghost shells in the nightfall.
-
2 RepliesAnd being able to "buy vanguard reputation" as you said? What happened to the complaining about the Vanguard Rep nerf in TTK? Though not ideal, this is a viable SOLUTION. And really, since when have you EVER earned something good from a vanguard package? This extra rep from silver seems to me like a "bonus" for supporting the game.
-
They are buying gear to look good and earning gear to perform well, it could be abused but perhaps they should make it inherit the perks of the gear infuse into it.
-
They've redefined vanity then, it's a look and un-leveled that's all you're buying.
