Discovering a intelligent alien species outside our solar system.
If we can't even handle the racism on our own planet, how in the world could we possibly handle dealing with a alien?

But then it settles down and we treat them like people, meaning some form of species-ism, but that comes with being a person. We still have racism but has that stopped people of different color from being friends?

Well it could have the effect of uniting us - sorta like there's us humans and then there's 'THEM', but who knows lol
