Who is the toughest Boss in the Destiny universe?

Atheon

437

Crota

68

Skolas

2274

Oryx

473

I personally think Skolas was the most challenging boss to take down. He was a definite pain in the rear especially during Arc & Void burn, Angry, Airborne and F#cking Lightswitch challenge modifications. Quite a few people are posting why Skolas is leading the votes when you can solo it now. I should have mentioned, "at that period of time" when the Boss was current which one was the toughest. I can tell you this right now there were not a lot of people light level 30-32 who soloed Skolas in year one.

    • Oryx actually took me the longest, this was due to lack of skill from some fireteam members. Skolas was my favorite fight, even though I downed him on launch day. Arc burn Skolas was the most fun I've had on a boss fight.

          • Atheon's for the longest time due to the coordination factors. Two teams of three randomly selected. Everybody, or at the bare minimum four, were required to know the fight to the letter. It included every element of the Vault of Glass from before hand: Relic, Detainment, Portals, Oracles. Relic runner -blam!-s up inside? Wipe. Relic holder -blam!-s up bubble placement? Wipe Oracle team -blam!-ed up? Wipe. Outside team all died? Wipe. Outside team opened the wrong portal or took to long? Wipe. While you don't directly deal with Atheon, his supplements are enough to drop you if you're not careful or you cant kill them fast enough. All while dealing with opening the rough portal (know in the right one) and relying on two essentially seperate teams outside that to do their job. While not hard as in "get blasted in one shot from a solar death cannon" it was difficult for the right reasons: it required the righht amount of teamwork at the time. And remember: it was rare to one or two go Atheon back when the cap was 30 unless you all burned him with gjallarhorn... but that can be said for anything, so lets stick to realistic terms.

          • Woah woah woah. Skolas is not the answer. The true answer is Vanilla Nightfall Valus Ta'aurc on a Solar Burn week. No questions asked.

            • Skolas required quick movements and fast thinking, also heavy synth popping. But if you just used nothing but straight gjallahorn an weapons of light to kill him on the first servitor then you cannot speak about his fight because you rushed it pretty hard. His fight was a test of hand to eye coordination for me and my team, if you can't spot the timer on the burning essence and where skolas is and how many ads are near and which ones and how long your synth is taking while reloading and ovine to avoid death while looking out for the next servitor or the objective of mines while looking at the essence and popping a synth and avoiding death while looking for skolas and running while using super for health regen and transferring the essence and shooting the servitor and skolas while staying alive then your truly a scrub .

None of them were really tough. Skolas's fight was just bad design working against the player in place of real difficulty. Let's look at what they did instead of making it challenging fight shall we? >Made the player one level lower which instantly put them at a disadvantage to begin with. >Forced the player to stand out in the open like retards (Dimantle mines yesssssss?) >Gave the Boss explosive attacks that sometimes ignored cover and still damaged the player. >Gave the Boss an instant kill for cheap deaths. >Loaded in as many ads as possible. >Gave the player little no real cover, anywhere they could "hide" had 1-4 other places they could be hit from or had an enemy spawning area right next to it. If he had been truly difficult people wouldn't have went back when they were on par with his level and completely decimate him. Same thing with Crota.

              • Atheon had a bubble of Protection to hide in Oryx had a bubble of protection to hide in Crota just kneels so you can hit him with a sword Then there is skolas. Who follows you and shoots you the entire time while you are exposed as can be. Poison transfer to reduce strategy options and mines to force you into the open.
