KD doesn't mean anything, There are so many things that wreck KD like Being friendly, Boosting, Doing the sword quest, Using bad weapons, Other people using your account, Being away from your controller, trying to get sparrow kills, and more. Also some people like me aren't sweaty all the time , I'm rarely sweaty, I barely ever use stuff like TLW, Mida, Doctrine. The only way to know a persons skill is to see them play.

1 ReplyKill 5 people and don't die for a few games and you'll have a god tier KD.
-
Depends what it's being used for
-
Nah it doesn't matter, unless you're too tier and make money off the game I suppose. Average people like me just play to escape reality for a bit lol
-
No it doesn't matter people who sweat have low KDs and would stomp you even if you have a 2.5kd - 3+KD .
-
12 RepliesKD can be deceiving. My KD isn't very good because I was a scrub when it came to PVP when I first got the game. I got buried in a deep kd hole and it will take some time to get out of it. But I have gotten better and I have gone flawless multiple times in year 1 and year 2. So in my opinion, KD doesn't matter.
-
9 RepliesKd does not establish how good/bad a player is, personally I judge players on their ELO, and tend to peek at their high skill on destiny tracker, some people like myself have recovering kds from year one, I was abysmal in year one, an average game for me in clash/control was around 10 kills and atleast 15 deaths, not too positive atall, but I'm getting there, passage coin farming doesn't help though lol
-
To an extent they matter No matter what you use you should be able to get a 0.9KD+ to be honest. (Excluding the AFK, boosting, helping friends, etc. I'm just referring to the using random guns/not playing sweaty part)
-
I think you're just saying that KDs are inaccurate. It matters I guess
-
It does. If I'm trying to win I'd much rather play with people who have 2.0+ KDs over ones with 0.4 KDs.
-
14 RepliesKd absolutely matters. I guarantee you that someone with a positive kd will beat someone with a negative kd almost 100% of the time, assuming its a fair fight. How can you contribute to the team if you're dying more than killing? The only situations I can think of where kd really doesn't matter is running the spark non stop in rift or getting a ton of captures in zone control. Even then you're still hurting the team by being negative.

Edited by EARWAK3R: 3/16/2016 4:58:19 AMIt only matters if you enjoy killing more people than dying. Which is the aim of mastering pvp. My kd is only 0.9, i play for fun and i am slowly improving. But kd absolutely matters, even playing for fun. If i die more than i kill in any one game, im giving away more points to the opposing team than im gaining for my own team in kills. And in a team based game that kind of matters. Unless you dont care about winning or losing. In which case kd wont matter to you.

1 ReplyOnly on cod ლ(ಠ益ಠლ) Git on my level scrub
-
My personal kd matters to me, I never look to others though
-
All time doesn't. Some people get a slow start. Now, the past week is a better way to judge.
-
2 RepliesIf boosting 25 kills for the sword quest knocks your kd down then you've got other problems. And if you boost so often your kd goes down, again, you've got other problems. Also, when I'm away I never die more than 2-5 times before getting kicked. That should not be enough to knock your kd down. In my opinion, k/d does matter. You won't see anyone skilled with under a 1.0. Though with that being said, it is not the only thing that matters. K/d isn't everything, but to me it should still be taken into account when judging a player's skill in the crucible against other players.

1 ReplyEdited by IKBeckly: 3/16/2016 2:27:24 AMIt matters to an extent

I'm that guy who gets a 6.0KD with a NLB and Fusion Rifle whilst using the Voidwalker Subclass.
-
3 RepliesBeing friendly?
-
3 RepliesIs 0.8 a good kd?
-
Yeah it does matter
-
Well I would think you're half right. In regular crucible it probably doesn't matter much. But I can see how people want good kd for trials partners.
-
I usually ignore the K/D of others because I can't tell if they're always serious or if they mess around a lot (and that applies to every game I've played that involves a K/D ratio).
-
It matters. If you are consistently in the negative you are not helping yourself or your team, even if you are playing objectives.
-
5 RepliesI agree with you for those reasons you stated. Your "overall" K/D does not matter. But your "right now" K/D does matter. For example, my "overall" Trials K/D is 0.74 (not good, I know). Hard to imagine going Flawless with that spread. But I happened to visit the Lighthouse for the first time ever this weekend. During that run, my "right now" K/D averaged a 2.46. So I definitely helped my team succeed, even though it would seem like I would have hindered them based solely on my "overall" K/D.

Judge a player by playing non objective games with them like skirmish/ clash. That will give you an idea of current skill.

Kd matters to ppl who care
