Pepperidge Farm remembers.
We all agree a self reloading machine gun is good. But let me ask you this: When's the last time you got killed by:
1. Zhouli's Bane
2. Doom of Chelchis
3. Smite of Merain
4. Anguish of Drystan (LOL)
5. Raid Fusion rifle
6. Raid shotgun
Better question: When is the last time you got one of these and didn't instantly dismantle or infuse it?
Am I the only one who thinks it is a glaring problem that raid weapons went from being the most sought after weapons in the game...to infusion food?
Please tell me I'm not the only one.
Question: Would you use the raid primaries if they had elemental damage?
Edit 2: Some people have said nobody ever used the Y1 raid weapons in crucible so it's not really a big deal anyways. I disagree.
I used:
1. Vision of Confluence
2. Praedyth's Timepiece (beast mode)
3. Found Verdict
4. Praedyth's Revenge
5. Praetorian Foil (beast mode ×2)
6. Corrective Measure
7. Light of the Abyss
8. Abyss Defiant
9. Fang of Ir Yut
10. Oversoul Edict
11. Her Benevolence (PoE)
The only 2 guns I'd even consider using from KF are the pulse and MG. That's pvp AND pve. Not even the sniper is good when the vendors sell a 1000 Yard Stare.

138 RepliesPeople said Year 1 Raid weapons weren't used in Crucible? I pretty much exclusively used Preadyth's Revenge in Year 1. Quillems is crazy good, but other than the the scout, shotgun, and sniper - I rarely equip any of the others. Let me know what ideas you have to make the Raid weapons better.

Edited by Acehunter25: 2/28/2016 7:10:01 PMI think the reason they haven't pushed year 1 to year 2 yet would be because of the complication of letting people who didn't buy TTK, play the updated content of the DLC they paid for. I'd be pretty pissed if there was a version of content I play and paid for out there that I couldn't access. It's probably a bunch of politics and money grubbing behind that decision and why it hasn't been released yet Though as someone who has TTK, I'd say just give the updated year 1 content to everyone, whether they have TTK or not

8 RepliesEdited by Darches: 2/26/2016 3:56:02 PMViable (and once viable) PvP weapons (not including heavies which are good no matter how bad they are): VAULT OF GLASS Found Verdict (still top tier) Praedyth's Revenge (probably still top tier... but too hard to use because of poor AA) Vision of Confluence (full auto/zen moment!) Atheon's Epilogue (now inferior to Doctrine/Arminius) Praetorian Foil (now inferior to Darkblade's Spite... Might be dead.) Praedyth's Timepiece (dead) Fatebringer (dead... it wasn't THAT bad. It had decent stats/perks/epic magazine) Vex Mythoclast (dead) CROTA'S END Word of Crota (still top tier... if HC's were good and TLW wasn't OP) Fang of Ir Yût (?) Oversoul Edict (dead) Abyss Defiant (dead) Light of the Abyss (dead) KING'S FALL Harrowed Defiance of Yasmin (because some people love the scope. Still sucks)
-
3 RepliesLight of the abyss was the best fusion rifle in crucible hands down.
-
I use the raid fusion rifle. Am I a horrible person?
-
Praetorian's foil. Definitely beast mode.
-
That was a thing? I didint know.
-
I interchanged MIDA and vision of confluence
-
I always use the raid weapons, but only in the raid and doing strikes, i used the harrowed sniper in pvp once, its pretty good other then that. Noo cx the reload kinda suck. Especially the hand cannon.
-
I remember like it was yesterday. Finished a VoG hard (in the early days) and two of my team members got the Vex... I was so pissed. I only got this shitty scout-rifle. Went into the crucible to do some bounties and had 11 k/d game which was insane because I wasn't a good crucible player. I said to myself, "Hey, this Vision of Confluence is not a bad weapon." Everyone used to have a story of how they got their exotics, you don't see those stories anymore.
-
Yup they all had a function I use smite and machine gun The rocket launcher with cluster is pretty good as well The rest are just bad
-
I like the scout sniper shotgun and machine gun. I use those a lot in crucibe. Sometimes I use the pulse in pve
-
3 Replieslet's just face it, the VoG weapons are king, they are the measure which everything is compared to. The Crota raid weapons were really good, they gave you special ability over the enemy which was cool and useful. The KF weapons are ...... meh. Yes the coccoon perk is excellent but it had to be for the reload speed on all them is in the basement. I think it all went south for the KF raid weapons when you could get a weapon like Hung Jury right out of the box, no waiting, bam, and it's still a very solid weapon. Same could be said for most weapons guardians are using. The weapons you pick up, farm, or buy are really good, which is excellent. This is what you want in a shooter, great guns. knowing all this, the real question remains, why have infusion at all? I'm a year 1 vet and when you got a weapon back then, bam that was it, you had it, you got to enjoy it, it was at it's peak right then. Though the evolution of the game has changed quite a few things, some for the better, some they just screwed up and should've just left it alone. But that year 1 grind for the weapon that didn't drop yet is the biggest difference between Y1 & Y2 and I think it needs to come back. It made the game exciting. It kept players playing. I'll say that again, it kept players playing. Remember your first Gjallahorn, Fatebringer, Black Hammer dropping for you? It was freakin awesome! In the end lose the infusion, keep the great guns coming, raise the light level and give us a new raid or bring back the old ones! Bam - dropped the mic
-
I used smite of Merain for a bit it's good but I'd rather use something else
-
2 RepliesEdit 2 is b.s lots of people used raid weapons in crucible. Vision, Atheon, found verdict, praedths, word of crota, vex mythoclast, blackhammer, and the Crotas end shotgun along with a few more weapons.
-
They -blam!-ed up removing elemental primaries and added insult by having matched game modifier on nightfalls... They need to bring them back
-
4 RepliesAbsolutely! Vision, Fatebringer, Found Verdict, Praedyth's timepiece, Corrective Measure, Fang, Oversoul!!! All very good in pvp. Smite of Merain is the only raid weapon I use in pvp, now. The self reloading perk is helpful...but it takes away from any diversity the guns could have. Y1 raid weapons were very unique because of their perks.
-
2 RepliesI didn't know there was a Hand Cannon... is it like Praetorian Rare?
-
Oh, the good old days when all we complained about was the lack of story and Forever 29. But at least our Raid gear and weapons were something to be proud of.
-
IMO. Raid weapons should be elemental. That's really what sets them apart from every other weapon. I loved that about the previous raids (excluding poe) Bungie made a very bad call with that one. Part of the reason why I've refused to raid. That, and the drops are complete trash. The grind for everything is just ridiculous for Y2. I went from a Raid grindhard and a trials sweaty, to just being an every now and then player. If they add elemental primaries back, and increase the drops for raids, I'll raid again. But until then, I won't touch it. I'm not a big fan of the new light system either, all they did that for was to increase replay ability, and make the grind twice as long. Sad sad move for them. I loved destiny Y1. Still love playing here in Y2, but..... it's went south.

Edited by Commisar Corgi: 2/27/2016 12:52:18 AMSince we're on the topic of raid weapons, I'd like to mention that cocoon is a rather lack luster perk. Considering all of the raid weapons have crap-tastic reload speeds, it really only compensates for this fact.
-
5 RepliesCozmo asks below for ideas to make the raid weapons better. Bungie don't really know do they? They are so completely lost and in over their heads they can't make a good weapon anymore. All their best ideas went into the brilliant Vault of Glass weapons and into a few of the Year 1 exotics, and especially the mighty Gjallarhorn. They are so intent on grounding the weapons (players) that they have forgotten this is a futuristic alien filled FPS that potentially opens up the field to amazingly weird and wonderful weapons and abilities. Let's see some rail guns. Lasers. How about a mini rocket launcher like Valus T has? A tranq gun (tranqed enemies have a higher chance of dropping loot than enemies killed outright)(including bosses). Some super incredibly long range snipers (though you'd need to make areas or strikes that could accommodate a fun sniping session like that). Failing all that, how about making the raid weapon have the best stats for their type. And all have standard perks of double damage to Hive and Taken. (I'm tired of all the weak perks, small amount of bonus damage to this guy, moderate damage to this one... BUFF THE PLAYER. Make the game fun!) -The auto rifle shoots straight with next to no recoil, with higher impact and ROF than any other. And yes, a decent mag size! -The hand cannon reloads FAST and has good range. Firefly is standard. -The pulse shoots as fast as Grasp of Malok with high impact. -The shotgun... well... shotguns in general need a major buff before even the once good ones will be effective again. -The fusion rifle should shoot straight as a laser and have the longest range of them all. And while the enemy is disintergrating, any enemy that touches them takes damage. -The sidearm... well, even Bungie doesn't think much of sidearms as there isn't a raid one. -The machine gun is fine, though being the raid one why not bump it's stats a little? -The rocket launcher should have max impact and velocity and standard perks of tracking and cluster bombs. And if any of these are overpowered, you can just say that Shaxx has banned their use in normal Crucible. (Maybe he bans the use of untested enemy based weapons in crucible). Then make a special event where raid weapons are allowed in some Crucible mode and watch the <0.5s kills mount up. TL;DR Use your imagination Cozmo and Bungie. You've proven with Fatebringer and the Mythoclast, with Gjallarhorn and Ice Breaker and Thorn that you can come up with some great weapons, you just need to refocus and learn to love games and Destiny again. Focus on making the game fun BEFORE focusing on how to make us keep playing with the grind.

I remember when I used whatever weapons I wanted because they all had the same attack level. I had loadouts for all burn types. I used more weapons. Now, I use whatever has the highest light level. #WeaponVarietyFail
-
2 RepliesBump. They took damage elements away because they thought they affected our decision making in regards to what weapons we use. At the same time, the made raid weapons perform like shit. Thanks Luke.
-
I believe that t's because one of the core objectives of the Year2 team was to make the raid beatable by teams fully composed by under levelled guardians with no raid weapons. Remember in year 1, a team of 29s without any raid weapon or gally was most probably a failure at the templar, without mentioning Atheon. Also pvp is the core focus of Year 2, so players have to go into pvp if they want to earn the best weapons of the game. The raid is there for us to loot infusion parts for stuff we buy or loot in other activities, be it from ranking up to quest to pvp, but certainly not to play with them (or only if you haven't been able to loot a decent shotgun or machine gun by ranking up).

I use the scout, shotty, chain gun, sniper, and rocket launcher.
