Here are the FACTS:
1. Yes in the outback we ride kangaroos instead of cars.
2. Yes in the outback we have "dropbears", which for those of you who don't know are koalas with fangs that drop down from trees onto their prey. Pretty gnarly.
3. Yes we have "shrimp on the barbie" (I guess it's a cultural thing).
4. We have the crappest internet in the world (worse than third world countries).
5. No we are not the most obese country in the world (don't try and cover it up America).
6. We call McDonald's "Maccas".
7. We do not have strict censors on movies - most R rated movies in the US are 15+ over here.
8. We have very noticeable accents.
With these FACTS in mind please stop stereotyping Australia and Australians :)

The only Australian stereotype I believe is that you're all liberals terrified of guns who think they need to involve themselves in American politics.

M8 isn't it gr8 m8?

I don't stereotype Australians. I got a couple Australian friends and they're awesome haha
-
Is it true that Australians don't like being called "Australians" (and instead English or British)? In Australia's early days of independence, or so my eighth grade history teacher taught, those who lived there considered being called "Australian" offensive.

Australia has no bad stereotypes. And they aren't stereotypes either. They're true. All of it.

5 RepliesDid you know Australia is #5 fattest country in the world? It is pretty shocking to see a country surrounded by sunny beaches on all sides sitting at #5 on the fattest country list. But nearly a quarter of all Australians (24.6%) are actually obese. And though their government has taken steps to try to reduce that number, nothing they do seems to work.
