Vegans are, to the bone, the biggest group of hippocrites that exsist on the planet. If an animal isnt cute, vegans dont care for it, while completely denying the huge volume of species, vital to the ecosystem of earth, that are destroyed through crop planting. They ignore that fact that physiologically we are omnivorous, and some cultures cannot grow vegetables, so meat is vital to them. They will not be better off if they change to vegetables. They ignore the facts that animals bred for meat wont survive in the wild because they have never lived in the wild. They dont even realise that its overpopulation, not meat that is killing the earth. They claim to advocate for the silent animal, even though in a survival situation a wild animal will attack a herbivore before a carnivore. There is in fact nothing justifiable about being a vegan. Dairy product conspiracies were invented by monsanto who owns most of the seed patents on earth. I truly believe a vegan preacher is one of the MOST narcissistic people on this earth. They care little for humans, but spruke their bullshit in cities, while drinking their chai tea... the real world cannot be vegan. It is redundant when even buddists have meat eating guidlines. And science has proven that if an infant doesnt eat meat protein, its brain wont develop, thus the current batch of vegan do gooders. Learn words like logical, ethical and future and technology. Get rid of words like utopian and sentient (you dont care about that anyway). Stop being urban hippies and judgmental pricks and furthermore, care for humans above anything else.... Our bodies are designed to work off an omnivorous diet, and without sufficient fats and proteins, it is a simple fact that you will not be fit and healthy. It would decrease obesity for the simple fact that nobody would be getting the optimal amounts of calories per day. Furthermore, the cause of obesity in the world is not as much linked to meat products but rather to the copious amounts of sugar that exist in the diets of many typical American consumers. As for the 'pain and suffering of animals', it is actually detrimental to many farms and packaging facilities to treat animals poorly. High stress and mistreatment lead to decreases meat quality, which then drives down profits- big time. Economically speaking, it is in their best interests to ensure that the animals stay at optimal health. The animals are also given a very strict diet to ensure their optimal growth and health, because the healthier and better grown they are, the more money the industry makes per head. Living arrangements, however, could potentially be better. As for global warming: The most impact that meat production has on the environment is simply through transportation, slaughter, and meat processing, but in reality, it is mostly transport. While yes, most of the methane in the atmosphere is produced by cattle and farming, methane does not have the same impact as CO2 does at the moment. Additionally, the nitrous oxide is actually produced from fertilizer. In order to realistically keep up with the high demand for an all-vegan diet for everyone, more fertilizer would have to be used, or you'd have to find another way to encourage plant growth. Additionally, you'd need to use up even more land in order to support an all-vegan diet. Furthermore, if we wanted more vegan diets, we'd still need to transport, package, and process many materials, although to a lesser degree than with meat processing. Furthermore, meat processing is NOT the number one contributor to changing climates. Take a look at China, if you will, and their 'brown cloud'. Also, meats taste good because our bodies need them, just the same as sugars. It is a result of how our bodies have come to be. There are not many alternatives to a steak, to be perfectly honest. It is for more than just a 'luxury meal', like you said. There is a solid argument against veganism, and a solid argument for veganism, but unfortunately you did not bring that solid argument. EDIT: In response to the OP abandoning the argument and leaving shock videos, let me say this: The video with the pigs is not how the USDA intends for animals to be treated, and is used to demonize the rest of the industry because of one bad apple. Even in the video, a worker is quoted saying 'If the USDA was around, they would shut us down'. As for the video with the chicks: yes, this is very saddening. The male chicks in the video are killed by grinding, there is no denying that. But according to the description on said video, said grinding is 'instantaneous death' for the chicks, and is supported by the American Veterinary Medical Association as per their guidelines for euthanasia.
