Light cannot live without darkness, but the opposite isn't true. Darkness, for a lack of better description, is the absolute absence of light. Meaning, that no matter how pure something is, it can be corrupted, but evil is universal. Remove all light, and darkness remains. Remove all shadows? Well...light will create more. Your "good" is someone else's evil.

It is now a year from last years December 10th 2014. So if you think about it every day is a new year. Edit: So why isn't everyday New Year's Eve and New Year's Day?
