For those gun control activists... How can you not want people to own or conceal carry guns in real life, yet play games for hours that centered around them?
It's like somebody playing Madden all day and hating the sport of football in real life.
I am not looking to make a comparison, I only wish to here the side of people who fall under the category of shooter game addicted while contradictorily supporting gun control.
Your saltiness is really showing your insecurity. I am only asking an opinion question here. I am in no way stating or comparing anything.

Now that that's out of the way, let's look at the stats. 1. The U.S has more guns than anywhere in the world at 310 million. 2. That doesn't count unregistered firearms either. 3. There's 318 million people currently living in the U.S. 4. There have been 994 mass shootings in 1004 days, which is 2.7 years which if you round it up is a mass shooting every day for the last 2, almost 3 years. I don't care what anyone says, this is a problem and this doesn't happen on such a massive scale where I come from (Canada), or the U.K, or anywhere else. Do you know why this is? Because the American people are obsessed and fixated with a long outdated document that was written almost 240 years ago,. It was meant to be relevant for a private militia to defend against the British Empire, not just anyone! It's not relevant anymore! It probably never will be! America needs to wake the fuck up if it wants to stay as a world superpower any longer!

Nice stereotyping and strawman. I'm a liberal. I'm not in favor of the gun control you speak of. You know what I am in favor of? Common sense gun control. Need a gun safety course. Be an adult. No felonies. Must have proof of identity (I was able to buy a .22 from a gun show with nothing except proof of age.) Stuff like that.

2 RepliesNice strawman argument

I don't like robbing banks because it's wrong and illegal but alas, GTA V.
-
Horrifically bad collection of fault analogies and strawmen, but pretty good bait.

Edited by TechyWizard: 11/30/2015 8:54:44 PMBecause it's a game and not reality. Come on man, that's just a stupid question. "Your saltiness is showing your insecurity" no, I'm salty because of this dumbass comparison.

3 RepliesThey're video games? Also, the left wing view on fire-arms has been exaggerated more than any other platform from any political view ever. It's called gun control, not gun eradication. Video games don't equate to my actual values I hold in the world. Otherwise I would pick up prostitutes in GTA V and take them to nicer neighborhoods. And I actually know a few people who play Madden that don't care much for actual football. Sames goes for FIFA. It's just fun. I think OP takes video games a little too seriously?
-
1 ReplyVideo games do not equate real life.

4 RepliesThis is literally the worst comparison I've ever seen

Liberals do not want people to be stripped of their guns. How do you -blam!-ing people not get this. We want better background checks and assault rifle bans. -blam!-

Thomas Jefferson smokes weed and shoot guns of his veranda. He says to Ben Franklin, "Ben my good man, this is what freedom is all about." A few hundred years later, and the people still don't get it
-
12 RepliesSo you would like everyone to own a gun. Correct? Or am I misreading

9 RepliesI don't really care too much for playing soccer irl, but I'm down for some FIFA with some friends.

Idk if this is the best comparison haha

Edited by YourMomentOfZen: 12/1/2015 10:22:23 PMBecause there's a difference between reality and video games.

8 RepliesSame reason that I can play GTA without actually supporting the practice of beating hookers and cops to death in the streets, that I can enjoy a movie about street racing without supporting speeding and ignoring traffic rules and that I can read a book on slavery without thinking people can own other human beings. As most people here are capable of separating fiction from reality and don't see a political statement in the act of pretending to be a pixel super space soldier firing plasma bolts at aliens, this is a really terrible comparison.
-
I'm a liberal that supports the right to bear arms, it's probably the biggest issue I don't agree with other liberals on. However, i would say they think it's a far cry between shooting virtual aliens and trusting real people having concealed weapons all around them. The news has everyone suspicious of one another and I see why people want guns "controlled". The problem is gun control laws don't keep guns away from bad guys, they keep people from legally obtaining weapons in accordance with their constitutional right. Tl;dr: shooting virtual aliens is fun. Doesn't mean everyone trusts everyone else to have a gun.

Edited by Lyra Zoomies: 12/1/2015 10:20:38 PMI agree with your stance on gun control, but your example is of poor choice. You're comparing apples to oranges here
-
Edited by Atomic: 12/1/2015 1:57:10 PMBecause guns were for militias in neighborhoods Im pretty sure the founding fathers didn't know we would have semi automatic guns to just mow down innocent children also video games are not reality and they are more for fun
-
Because I, and many others, know the difference between firing a pixilated gun at a fictional (usually faceless) character and an actual human being with a life.
