Nerfing the 2 most reliable counters to sniper rifles, notably shotguns and Pulse Rifles, will make it as such that Snipers will have an overbearing map presence.
Sniper rifles will need to have new mechanics added to compensate for that.
Be it descoping when getting shot (you know, like this one unknown and irrelevant shooter does for decades now. I think they call it Halo), having innate sway and forcing you to hold your breath or something similar. Massively increased zoom sizes across the board and the removal of the 0.5x scopes could be another option as well.
Nerfing PRs will have a net increase of TTK as a consequence. Giving snipers even more time to get a kill, even though they messed up.
This gets worse, given the fact that PRs now will have significant damage drop off as well. Significant as in, finally noticeable.
Auto Rifles will not be in a state to compete with Snipers given the numbers, and the only semi reliable (the rest was unusable) Handcannon to do so, the Hawkmoon, will get a huge nerf to the range and lucky bullets.
I absolutely see nothing that would allow primaries to meaningfully compete with sniper rifles, when the next round of nerfs come in December.
So I basically demand Bungie to be proactive and nerf sniper rifles or add mechanics in advance that will help to balance them, instead of waiting until March to nerf them into oblivion.

A) This isn't Halo, the mechanics aren't the same B) Map Design favors shotguns in the first place, implementing this garbage will make then useless C) Snipers take the most "skill" out of all special weapons and require precision. You are saying to get de scoped once being shot? Basically you are saying "if you shoot a sniper one time you automatically win the gunfight!". Snipers are meant to be a 1 shot precision weapon, so why should the counter to a sniper be to get 1 shot on them with a full auto and more reliable weapon D) You probably use shotguns

Edited by megaKaiju: 11/25/2015 1:37:26 AMThe best counter at mid to long ranges to snipers has always been scouts, they have the range and accuracy to allow for strafe shooting so you can properly engage a sniper. The rest of the primaries aren't suited to the task and have only been reliable because the range on each has been set too high during weapon tuning.

if you want Halo mechanics like Halo then go play Halo, Bungie made that game and moved on to Destiny that doesn't mean their gonna bring that mechanic to their new game. Sway is reasonable but why stop at only adding it to snipers when every primary in the game other than HC has scope. I rather get killed by a sniper than a shotgun anytime cuz i know that guy got skills to line that shot and kill me with a HS.

When u say u want snipers to de scope when getting shot at ,u did not think ahead because they would either have to add in hip fire for snipers like in halo. And I don't think u wouldnt want that all because u would be crying nerf again

Really U really want another nerf in this game..... They already nerfed final round and luck in the chamber what more do u want. And just to make it clear aim assist does nothing to help your aim it only slows down your aim when u pass over a body that's all. And when your wanting to get a head shot, aim assist actually pulls your cross hairs to the body not the head. Pretty soon they are going to nerf all guns in the game so make up your mind on what u want to use and stick with your choice

Go play call of duty and tell me how much easier it is to snipe people in that non skill of a game. Destiny might be easier than halo but there's this noob ass red dot that shows up when people hard scope so gtfo it's not one shot unless u can aim..

I think flinch should be alot worse. Then you won't be headshotted so easily if your firing at the sniper. Ofc unflinching should lessen the effect

Snipers fit their purpose, if you make it eay enough to run through a corner normally knowing a sniper is gonna kill you, that is on you

My only problem with this rebalance is the same I've had with all of them... You nerf one thing and buff another. Try one or the other. Otherwise there will never be "balance" (I use that lightly).

Scout rifles are the highest range primaries, and are the only weapons that rival the range of snipers. As much as it pains me to admit it, I think you're right. If shotguns join the other secondary weapons in the garbage, snipers will undoubtedly be the only viable secondary for any half decent Crucible player. That being said, I feel it also goes without saying that this constant 'nerf this' 'nerf that', is not how [b]balancing [/b]should work, but rather actually give every weapon class a viable use. The folks over at Bungie aren't stupid. Although maybe it seems that they haven't always made the best alterations, one of the many things that still makes Destiny one of the best games out there today is the vast multiplayer sandbox. Such a vast variety of class abilities, weapons, maps and gamemodes means a lot of housekeeping. I for one would rather Bungie address the multiplayer sandbox balancing as a whole, rather than responding to people's complaints on the forums in the form of 'Nerf bombs'. That being said, I know for a fact that the Destiny community doesn't take too well to going month after month and Iron Banner after Iron banner with the same Imbalances.

I haven't played this game in a while but when I did there was always someone complaining about the weapons,then it was the subclasses, now the sniperilfes. Seriously this community has some of the nicest gamers I have ever met but also some of the whiniest crybabies I've ever come across period. Has it come to nerfing real skill based weapons?

Seems they are really pushing the masses to Snipers, it remains to be seen if Fusion Rifles can return in a meaningful way.
