Today's youth are very impressionable. You see children emulating the behavior they see on TV, hear in music, observe in adults. Some of this behavior is desired. Some of it, is not. There are plenty of children playing video games like Destiny. Although it is rated Teen, this game does have violence in it and I worry that it may be corrupting the minds of the youth who play it. If the interactions on this forum alone are any indication, then it has already affected their temperament. Don't believe me? Scroll down the page. It won't be long before you encounter vitriol hurled by somebody's child. When I played video games, I cannot tell you how many times some 7 year old claimed to have copulated with my mother. I've heard profanity uttered by a 5 year old that I would never have dreamed up.
The violence being imitated in Destiny is causing violent thoughts and tempers. Which is why I believe Destiny needs to be more child-friendly. How must this happen? Well,I for one think we should get rid of death animations. Instead of having an animation, I believe the enemy (or opponent) should disappear in a flash of light. I also believe that some of the weapons could be replaced with less-threatening objects. For example: the throwing knife could be replaced with some sort of energy sphere that scores points when it hits the target. Instead of firing realistic bullets, the guns could fire rays of light. (I'm keeping in mind that most of them already do.)
Another thing that could make Destiny more child friendly is the implementation of a profanity filter. Language recognition has gotten incredible. I am sure it would be simple to program some version of word recognition into the in-game chat. Every time somebody utters a profanity, they will be penalized. Three strikes and they are banned from participating in public games for 24 hours.

-blam!- no, I see that this is satire but there are people out there who believe it should be. It's age rated 16+. It's there for a reason if you're too stupid to realise that then it's your fault, not the games.

2 RepliesEdited by joey big guns: 11/13/2015 12:29:51 AMIf you don't want your kids emulating the things they see on tv or in video games don't let them play or watch. Want them to play "kid" games buy a leap frog. Want them to be good kids regardless of what they watch or play? Be a good -blam!-ing parent not some pansy ass PC, everyone's a winner bullshit parent. You beat their ass when they act a fool they won't act like fools. Pretty damn simple. Also, if you're worried about a "kid" playing a game like destiny, you probably shouldn't have been a shitty parent and bought them the game. If you're worried about other people's kids you got problems. Worry bout your own shit not some other people's kids.
-
3 RepliesBitch, I bought this game with a T, not a E. Hell, kids shouldn't be allowed to play games like this. I don't care if parents let them play, they should add parent options, I don't like hearing squekers...
