It Seems No One Reads the Faction Backstories
New Monarchy wants to rebuild the city into a kingdom.
Future War Cult wants to gear up for war.
Dead Orbit wants to flee the Traveler in terror.

Wow, don't claim to have read them if you haven't. New Monarchy couldn't give two shits about the Traveler, they want our people and our system safe, but everyone wants that. What they really want is control over the people, they think only one person should lead and that they should be the ones who decide it. Future War Cult is nothing but secrets. Golden Age tech used to see into the future. See the destruction of our world in every possible scenario. They want our people safe at any cost. They understand that war will never cease so we must fight in our reality and never give up so we don't end up like the others. Dead Orbit realizes the impracticallity of staying on Earth. Several enemy races, the Eliksni, Hive, Taken, and most likely Vex, are here attacking us because we keep it. Does that mean they're weak? No. They are holding the perimeter around Saturn to stop any additional Hive/Taken ships getting to us. Do they think our solar system is lost? Yes, but they don't think our people are. They are radicals. Going against what the City wants for the gains of their own, but they do it because they understand how dark its going to get.

31 RepliesWhy the rhetoric on dead orbit? Here, let me try. New Monarchy wants to install a dictatorship dressed as a Monarchy system in the name of the traveller. FWC wants to prepare for an endless war and use up all of our limited resources fighting against endless waves of fallen, vex and hive. Dead Orbit wants to set up colonies in other systems so we can grow our strength back and become strong again. Oops. Did I make the other factions look like dicks? My bad.

4 RepliesI think of Titans as the New Monarchy type due to the fact that they are for the city and its wall. I think of Warlocks as the FWC type due to the fact that they are scholars and like to delve into the unknown forces. I think of Hunters as the Dead Orbit type due to the fact that they are "loners" who like to explore unknown places. Human ---> Hunter ---> Dead Orbit Awoken ---> Warlock ---> FWC Exo ---> Titan ---> New Monarchy

I just want their ships and shaders. I don't get that too caught up in the individual ideas and philosophies. In my opinion: The city should be stronger. We should travel beyond our star. And we should always by ready for war. All the factions have the right ideas. I don't really understand the divide that's going on. I just hope it's playful rivalry and no one in the game or the forum is actually judging people based off their faction choices. That's just silly. :P

You can hear lakshimi say "and please, keep this quiet" when you do FWC patrol missions. Our enemies outnumber us 4:1, and have gods on their side, and ours is crippled. Its going to take more than just fighting. All in all, they are all asshats, so I see why people choose solely on color

Dead orbit isn't cowardly it's just more pragmatic. They don't have any strong connections to earth anymore, and they are disappointed that more resources aren't being dedicated to finding life on other planets and other reaches of space. In the paradox ghost fragment mysteries that you find in the vault of glass, the ghost sees a future where the guardians have all fled from earth and have to live as a flotilla of ships. I'm sure dead orbits ships will come in real handy when that happens.

FWC actually has a machine that allows them to see the future, and all of the futures they see involve war (and nearly all involve the Darkness destroying us). DO had a strange experience near the Reef that was kept top secret for a while (AnonPig wrote about this a while ago).

5 RepliesNew monarchy wouldn't be able to get enough people to agree to a king, dead orbit is full of cowards, and future war cult understands that we are surrounded by multiple hostile alien forces that want us dead... I'm pretty sure that if you chose NM or DO you either haven't read the lore or don't care.
