Ive done both strategies. Multiple pools, and single pool. Both work, however the single pool is easier to get the hang of. But Byf has stated that the single pool method is a cheese. What do you guardians think? Personally I think its just a safer strategy. There is no exploitation of game mechanics at all.

Cheesing is doing things like jumping all the way up on top and out of the playable area on Crota Bridge, or the tried and true Bridge Cheese where only one person goes across and everyone dies / rez's etc. Doing the one pool method has you still using the mechanics of the fight, but only a bit of it - no one is glitching out of the map / doing things in an odd way. You don't HAVE to use all of the pools.

Edited by RustyShackleford: 10/20/2015 3:15:09 PMNo, people are just dumb.

Nah. No mechanics are skipped.

Not cheese just for scrubs

2 RepliesWho DAFUQ is 'Byf'??? Never heard of her! Seriously, Byf can go eat a cock-meat sammich if she feels the single pool strategy is a cheese.

First off, who give a shit what a no-name steamer thinks? These people are scraping by, using a video game in a feeble attempt to achieve fame. This guy has no basis to claim one strategy versus another is a cheese. Tell me this. If a single orb strategy is a "cheese", what is the actual mechanic that makes it a cheese? Comparatively, the bridge encounter on Crota's End was cheesed by the majority of guardians. Guardians cheesed this encounter because a hidden mechanic removing adds on the starting side was discovered. With golgortoh and a single orb strategy, there is nothing keeping adds from spawning. There is nothing allowing the entire fireteam to continue after all 6 members die. BUNGiE made this encounter so that we can use the orbs in any which way we want. We can use one or two gazers. We can use any number of orbs. IME, the single orb strategy is easier to learn, easier to explain, and less risky. Using multiple gazers and multiple orbs DOES make the fight go faster but with higher risks. Last week I found an amazing group. We used a strategy where there was 2 gazers, but we had 5 people doing DPS at all times with multiple orbs. Gazers switched off doing dps and grabbing gaze. We downed him in just above 3 minutes.

Who is Byf and why would you care what they think? Play how you want as long as you're not hurting other players. If it's an issue to bungie, they'll fix it. - Der

I can't stand that idiot
-
Yeah cause buddy wants to be on bungie's good side why wouldn't he call it a cheese. This is like people calling hunters running through the abyss with invisibility "cheese".
-
I don't see it as a cheese, however I feel that this strat won't cut it in the hard raid, so we have been working on both.
-
13 RepliesIf you can't do multiple pools you suck.
-
I don't consider it a cheese as you still use the intended mechanics to complete the encounter.
-
nope. just made less complicated and safer
-
Not cheese. He's just mad someone found an easier way.
-
Not a cheese. A cheese is subverting the game mechanics to accomplish the same goal. Using solar flares to back Aetheon off the ledge was a cheese. Jumping to the top of the tower to make the bridge easy was a cheese. One pool or multiple pools is using the game mechanics as they were intended.
-
I dont think its a cheese but an option.
-
Who's Byf, and why should you care what he/she thinks?
-
My FireTeam does the 2 globe pool strategy. Shoot the first globe down and jump in DPS the big guy, shoot the globe down and DPS again, then jump out. Rinse and repeat, three waves and we are done.
-
Why would it be a cheese?
-
I learned it with multiple gaze and pool moves. Learned the gaze portion. I think the multiple gaze is more entertaining, but single gaze still retains all the aspects of the fight while making it easier for pick up groups who may not have someone who knows how to take gaze. A cheese strategy is when you intensionally nullify/subvert a mechanic in order to complete the encounter (I.e. De spawning bridge adds in CE).
-
No cheese, it's a legit normal mode strat. I'd like to see someone do it for hard mode though. You better believe Golgoroth is going to have some tricks up his big glowing belly button for that sh*t.
-
It's not necessarily a cheese. It's more of doing a 1/6 of what was planned for you to do. You are only doing what is best for your team really.
-
1 ReplyI went in to this boss the first time thinking multiple pools was what we be doing. The single does end up being very easy to get done but I feel multiple pools would kill it quicker
-
It's not a cheese. I personally think it's a bad way to do it, because I think hard mode will make you do all 6 at once, but it's definitely not a cheese.
-
2 RepliesSingle pool = 1 gaze / 5 DPS 6 pool = 2 gaze / 1 add control / 3 DPS All mechanics are still intact. Say what you want, a cheese would be where we can hide in the ceiling and ignore mechanics.

Byf is an idiot
