WHY are the Cabal here?????
I'm not much into the lore of the Cabal so, why are they here in our system? I know about the Hive, Fallen and Vex but I don't see how the Cabal fall into the story or lore. Anyone with good insight on this care to share? I've been very curious after reading the Book of Sorrow. Thanks

The cabal are apparently on the run from the rest of the canal empire and there is a ghost fragment which show a ghost talking about how he is stuck on Mars and too far from the light to be able to live but he scouts the cabal and reports fights and arguments between them about whether or not to keep with the ways of the empire or abandon them. Idk if it's this exactly I read the fragment a long time ago

There's a theory going around that the Cabal are sort of on our side. Basically that they too are fighting the darkness. Just look at the way they attacked the dreadnaught.

Edited by Yung Jynx: 10/9/2015 1:51:43 AMI haven't completed the Book of Sorrow so I wouldn't know, but they seem to be more of a neutral party in this war against the Darkness with their own agendas. No real direct interest in the Traveller, and are more worried about the Vex and Hive since they're pretty much more direct threats to them. Hell, could even be a case of the whole "enemy of my enemy is my friend" stuff.

3 RepliesYeah, the Cabal seem like the most boring + weakest enemies we face, but I was intrigued by a statement Ghost made in one of the missions - "They blow up planets and moons just for getting in their way." I'm sure the Cabal will become a more integral part of the story eventually and hopefully become a more formidable foe than they currently are. A Cabal raid would be sweet.

10 RepliesIts some what funny to me that cabal, vex, fallen, hive are here in our system with big plan and shit.. and there we are, 'guardian of the light', killing million of them in over one year and hardly have any casualty (player who quit playing destiny) Point is, it seems to me that we are more of 'killing them all' than 'being endangered or close to extinct' You know, we kill The Hive God .. Also Hive God's dad .. We stomped the black garden.. Kill all cabal officer (including -blam!- the shit out of john cena over and over again) and also wipe out all the houses of fallen.. so hard that no captain wanna call them self a kell anymore.. Power of terrestrial bullet i guess ahahaha

30 RepliesSo from what I read, the Cabal presence that we have been fighting all along in our system is a scouting legion sent originally to investigate Vex activities on Mars. (They didn't actually come here to fight us we were just in their way) So the significance of what happens in the Taken King is we kill the last of their main commanders putting them in a bad situation. So the last move of this tattered and beaten scouting legion is to send out a message. So we don't know exactly what was in the message but it was high priority message to the Cabal Emperor. So sometime soon I would expect to see an increase in Cabal activities as we now have the attention of one of the most powerful militaries in the known Universe....Oh and they have weapons meant to break troublesome planets deemed a lost cause....so there's that looming threat they bring...

1 ReplyIn one of the missions, Tinkerbot says that whenever a Cabal force declares war, they are kicked out of the Empire. The only way for them to come back into the Empire is through victory in their battles. I believe that the force in our solar system is working under a commander who declared war on the Darkness and/or the Vex and/or Oryx, and as such, goes to unexplainable lengths to destroy said opponent. I'm leaning a bit more towards their objective (for the time being) being to take out Oryx or something along those lines. Their presence at the beginning of the game was seemingly minimal, the Vex being a far greater power within Mars than they. However, as time went on and other enemies appeared, Oryx showed up, and then the Cabal are all up in our faces. I believe that there are still many more armies at this one commanders command, since the Cabal were blasting signals back off into space, after all of their ranking commanders were killed.

5 RepliesThey've been running from Oryx the whole time, if not Oryx then the next DLC boss, because in the grimoire it states that they got here because they were running from something.

I think I read in one of the Grimoire that the Cabal are running from "something". That along with the fact that they are a explorer/conquer type of folks. Also (like many other species) they might have been naturally drawn to the Traveler

5 RepliesPretty sure their here fighting the vex I mean the only reason they even started coming after us is because we broke into one of their bases and started firing on them because they had information that we needed. In fact they haven't actually started anything with us. Every time we see them they're doing something that has nothing to do with us and then get murdered trying to defend themselves. There's also grimoire cards that talk about there battles with the vex. Guardians are just jerks.

We cabal unlike the rest have yet to face a collapse. We are here to both defend ourselves, to take part in the travelers light, and to take over your solar system. Our empire will endlessly grow. They saw our Solar System with the Travelers body (and apparently Vex tech) and decided to seize it for themselves. Definitely hoping they get their own DLC/Raid to shed more light on them. They're currently the least developed race. Not that a lot of them are really developed in game.

As far as I know the Cabal legion are taking refuge on Mars because they too are running away from the Darkness , since Oryx appeared in our system it is pretty convenient for them to take action to eliminate a huge threat that's affiliated with the darkness, hence the distress signal from the Cabal Empire outside our solar system..
