Umm... Just about every Legendary i've ever loved will be obsolete come TTK?
Well, WTF happened to the Etheric Light idea?
I spent an entire actual, literal year building an arsenal perfectly tailored to the way i play. I chased, grinded hard and even fell in love with a few guns. Now the time spent building that arsenal has become pointless.
Many of you may say that you are bored with the guns you have and its good they are nerfing the old weapons. Well, don't put that on the whole community, man! Just put YOUR old guns down voluntarily and pick up some cool new ones for awhile! This way you could always come back to them later. This way you help everyone, by exercising some will power.
It just feels like i worked to build a house over time and now that its finished all the sudden the govt comes around and says "we are bulldozing this whole part of town in a month" And i'm like dude, won't that piss off the rest the the community? And as it seems the community is totally fine with having to rebuild what they have worked so hard to accomplish... Its crazy!
Is all my hard work for all those weapons going to amount to nothing in a handful of weeks?... Seriously?
Even most Exotics arent coming with us, i mean, holy shit!

What about your Fatebringer, your VoC, your GALLY(yes, its becoming obsolete!)
I seriously won't even think about getting TTK if this is the case. Everybody loved the Etheric Light idea!([b]FOR WEAPONS[/b]) Why would Bungie scrap it? I mean, i was there pre-HoW, everyone was estatic to hear that ANY gun or armor piece could be maxed! We loved that.

Pretty cheap and lazy to say "new stuff is going to be better" simply because it will have damage/defense stats that older stuff can't get to. Some people like classic cars, retro clothes, vintage vinyl, etc.... Why isn't Bungie more confident about the new weapons/gear in TTK being so fantastic that no one would want to keep using old stuff???? A lot of old muscle cars still can have great performance with proper upgrades... Seems like most players have a really short memory and can't recall all the pre-release hype about "Become Legend" and all the statements they made about your gear/weapons being part of that legend for the 10 year adventure.... They were not advertising "Grind for stuff you are going to scrap when we make part of your legend obsolete whenever we can't come up with better stuff"

5 RepliesI remember when they launched the dark below. A few days before it dropped they spilled the beans that you had to relevel your exotics. Vault space was cramped so everyone started scrapping weapons. Alot of people including myself quit playing after that. I jumped on HoW mid July since I paid for it at launch. It was cool to have old my old stuff relevant again. But once again its short lived. They need to have a plan and spell it out. But i doubt many people would play once they find out all the stuff you grind for is obsolete in a couple of months. Not to mention the drops and rewards are terrible. So chances are you just got it before the reset. I dont have a problem doing it when the next installment comes out but not for a dlc. I really cant justify spending 40 on a dlc that makes all end game content irrelevant and replaces it with only 1 raid couple strikes and a new patrol. Yeah theres new gear but how awesome has the gear been in past dlcs......... Sharded

Yes they will but keep ones you don't need because you'll be able to use them to better your yr 2 weapons with infusion and the more powerful weapons in ur vault and inventory will determined your level come the day of TTk

5 RepliesDo you guys/gals even play destiny for fun? I had a blast grinding strikes & crucible with friends. Joking around after a long day at work doing the VoG. Having that one friend get good drops throughout the whole raid. Seeing people struggle the jumping blocks and sniping them mid air to mess them up. Having complete confusion when they changed how atheon teleported people. They were all enjoyable and relaxing times. Seems like everybody wants a "I'm the best trophy" or "easy mode" in this game and when it doesn't pan out like that you all freak out. I know things get competitive (at least sport/work wise). If destiny feels like a job and you aren't getting a check from playing it, take a step back from the game and breathe. Could just imagine all the complaining if we still had no saves in video games. You're worried about working hard for nothing? Lose your last life on the last stage in sonic the hedgehog 2 because you mistimed a jump. [spoiler]tl;dr just relax, it's game[/spoiler]

I don't know if it's just me but I don't get why they're making three of the largest things currently in the game obsolete..

4 RepliesIt's no different to any other game like COD you spend a year playing it getting all the guns and gear then when a new COD comes out we just drop it like it never existed, at list bungie is giving us our exotics and characters to play in the TTK, it's not that bad just think of it as year 1 being a BETA and that all the next destiny games will be better

I'm not feeling it either. It's shown me the way forward tho, yr 2 will be spent having fun in game not trying to obtain every Raid and exotic. So sick that about 500 of my 800 hours in game are actually obsolete definitely a kick in the nuts. But it's a game n they have improved things since the beginning hopefully they will have better systems and coping mechanisms in the second full game release.

18 RepliesPretty much every feature they added for HOW was a people pleaser. They just wanted everyone to shut up and get people to play the game. Ehteric light and weapon re-forging sounds cool but it was actually terrible for the game in the long term.

how is it a waste of time? did you enjoy playing the first two expansions? did you have fun with the weapons you acquired? if so there was no waste. new xpacs bring new content and gear, old gear of lower power levels should be left behind in favor of the new. if not then you have no incentive to play the new material. that's how games work.

What did I play for? 1) First and above all, I played to enjoy playing the game?....kinda figured that's the most obvious reason 2) I played all that time to accomplish what I could, gather materials to carry into next year, and more importantly I played to gain experience so that I'll be ready for the next era of the game. 3) I played to get my characters maxed out, subclasses and all, to hit that high point and be on top of my game, and I learned how to use them well in the process, yet even still have more to learn which will continue on as the game does. As the game evolves, so will the players, and just as it happens in the real world, those who do not evolve stay behind in the ashes of the old. Destiny is set to last TEN years, did you really expect to go year after year lugging around your Gally's and Fatebringers and the other 4 or 5 weapons we all use at most while we ignore the rest, as a few new guns are added here and there for you to still ignore? Change is very much needed for things to run the best they can and keep the heart of this universe pumping with fresh blood, otherwise that heart slows down gradually until it stops beating entirely. This first year of Destiny was one of many stepping stones along a continually changing path, and I welcome the road ahead and look forward to the new experiences, challenges, and rewards around the bend. Look at the history of Destiny the way we look at history of our lives, some members of the previous generation always refuse and resist change in all forms and want things to stay just the way they are, but in the end those people either die off or they come around and adjust to the future.
