Why remove ascendant materials?
Some people still need them. New people start playing, new characters are still being made, removing ascendant mats from nightfall/heroic won't help anything.

I think Radiant Materials should drop in DLC related strikes, this might be an easier fix. It rewards our DLC purchase and would have no negative impact to those people who do not play/have the DLC. Seems like a win-win to me... Thoughts???

1 ReplyEdited by jnikoley: 1/21/2015 2:45:33 PMWhat they need to do is make the game "detect" what armour you are wearing, and if it's all CE raid gear, provide a chance of getting radiant mats to drop. This would apply to public events, cryptarch packages/engrams, faction level ups, dailys, and nightfalls. Basically, you'de still mostly get ascendants, with an occasional radiant here or there. If your toon didn't have 100% CE raid gear equipped, you would only get ascendants. Of course, CE would still drop only radiants regardless of what armour your wearing. Like wise, VoG would drop only ascendants. I dont see any reason why this couldn't be done.

3 Repliesif you need ascendants run VoG. ran vog hard yesterday; oracles: 6 energy templar: 2 found verdicts (4 energy gorgon chest: 6 energy gatekeepers: 6 energy atheon: 6 energy + speeder that's 24 mats for one run through plus 4 more from weapons I already had. do that three times and you can max out a lot of gear.

It really depends on whether you have 3 same class alts sharing the same armour, or 3 different class alts all competing for your affection and shard spends. I have 3 different classes, so I need more shards. I tend to switch weapons regularly so to not get dependant on any, so I need more energies. I agree with the OP. My counter offer to the people who want them removed is: can we please argue for the amounts to be boosted instead? Sure 8 shards is hardly an exotic, but what about 24? I'd be very happy with 24.

Even when you need shards getting them for nightfall is still a disappointment. Imagine as a kid how great it would have been to open your birthday presents and gotten nothing but batteries.

Having 3 characters already with CE gear makes ascendant materials kinda EH, I feel like they should be removed as a NF reward. They're so easy to get in other activities. Bungie should give us players with surplus of materials a way to use them as currency. Trade them in for planet materials, glimmer, or something.

As a level 32 I have zero need for 10 ascendant shards from a nightfall activity. So perhaps after a certain level they shouldn't appear in your rewards table. Also I have over 300 so...yeah.

Don't remove them, but they are far too commonplace in places they don't belong. Keep them in raids, public event rewards, but they don't belong in the nightfalls. That's one of the hardest challenges of the game, and I've heard people describe it as a slap to the face. That's the perspective i chose to take

They just seem to drop too frequently. I have 200 plus of each. It's just like yay, got more garbage.

Ascendant mats are still easy to get, and I got 15 energies from the nightfall, so I think you might be wrong. even so: Vault of Glass normal and Hard Daily Heroic Stories Public events (either straight away or in the post) Faction Packages Cryptarch Packages Legendary Engrams. the things are everywhere!

do the daily, guaranteed ascendants. do VOG. use marks to buy and break down armour. players making alts will have loads of these players just starting will be too low to do nightfall really and it should encourage them to run VOG before crota an exotic and full vanguard gear not leveled at all gets to to 28. easily enough to do VOG. finally i personally have only gotten shards/energy once so if that was my motivation id be very disappointed.
