I have been playing extensively with my hunter and I have been keeping track of my shots. You DO get crit damage when using golden gun AND fusion rifles. The main reason people say you don't is because it doesn't pop up in big yellow numbers but the critical damage IS there, with golden gun, you still have to aim the weapon. Fusion rifles can be hard to determine because it's just like a shot gun. For those who don't have a keen eye, try using it on a Walker.
Edit: I traversed deep into the Hellmouth as part of a head scout team for an upcoming raid. On my journeys I found many interesting things. The Knight majors didn't take critical damage from the golden gun as his Knight subordinates did. Further tests showed similar results on ogre and wizard majors. As of Knight Ultras, results show similar unsettling results.
Current conjectures show that all majors and ultras show a remarkable resistance to Golden Gun's critical damage.
A similar resistance is shown on Hive Ultras for fusion rifle head shots. Further study is needed on majors...... Future guardians must be warned.

Just tested this on the exclusion zone mission. I was level 27, enemies level 26. Fusion rifle was doing 239 for body and 341 for a head shot. It also appeared that yellow-bar enemies were immune to the critical. Basically, I confirmed everything op posted. Also when I was testing on lower level enemies in cosmodrome, the crit damage was twice as much as a body shot. So it would seem the crit damage changes depending on enemy level, but this is different than the damage reduction that higher level enemies get, because i was under the assumption that if you were higher or at least equal level, you would always deal max damage assuming your weapon attack is sufficient. Anyway, there definitely is something going on with fusion rifles and critical hits. Haven't noticed in crucible if there was ever a difference for headshots.

Fusions have no crit I've tried on many occasions.

4 RepliesUhh, there are no critical modifiers for fusion rifles. That difference in damage you're seeing on the fallen walker is due to the armor that has different damage reductions depending on where you shoot it. As for fusion rifle headshots, they don't do any more damage than body shots. Golden Gun does so a little extra damage in precision shots, but not enough to make a difference.
