Best Gears Of War game in the trilogy?
I'm only counting the original trilogy not judgement. I'll be doing a poll like this to see all the high points in the series.
For me it's GoW3 the campaign was crazy fun the weapons felt better than ever the set pieces were incredible, and although all the Gears games have cheesy writing I was still really sad when someone died.

2 RepliesI'm just saying but Epic got Gears right. Each game was significantly more fun than the previous one. Save Judgment. Though the Horde/Beast mode game type was -blam!-ing awesome.

The first has the worst hit boxes/hit detection I've ever seen and feels too damn clunky and the third is a watered down causual fest filled with scrubs that will bitch and moan about the sawed-off all the while scrubbing their way through matches with Lancers... If you can't stop someone from getting within hugging distance and shooting once, you obviously aren't going to fare too well against a Gnasher... Another thing I dislike about 3 is all the locked content the game has. Every dlc the game has is already on the -blam!-ing disc... That and the dedicated severs that you had to own dlc to play on. Say what you will about 2, but I enjoyed it more. The only things I like about three were the updated mechanics and the smooth feel.

2 for the mp that was where I had the most fun. The stories were all the same to me. Fun played with friends that's it.

Gears of War 3. I played a lot of multiplayer and horde, though I never found replay value in its campaign like the previous games, especially Gears 2. Gears 3 had some great looking maps, some of the best on the 360 overall. The revamped Horde mode was fun but it felt casualized. It was fun, and objectively better, but it lost something that made Horde in Gears 2 special. Same thing with Infection after Halo 3 and Firefight after ODST.

I don't know about anybody else, but I just enjoyed the Gears 2 multiplayer the most. Gears 3 had a good campaign, but I hated how it was sooo noob friendly and the overloading of DLC weapon skins. Also I hated the whole re-up thing because Gears was all about going through the struggle to reach that rank 100 not reach rank 100 and then do it ALL over again like COD.

The first game is the only decent one. Don't care for the multiplayer in the series. Just found it utterly boring.

Gears 3. I especially love it has full bot support for all the dlc maps so I don't feel like buying the map packs are wasted even when the day comes xbox live for the 360 goes under at least I can still play bot matches. I think gears 2 had bots as well but I didn't like the controls in that game as much.

Probably Gears 1 maybe 2. That cover mechanic was incredible back in 2006. Nowadays everyone has a grasp on that mechanic and has implemented it in games that offer more than Gears. That's why I'm skeptical of Black Tusk's Gears game. GoW's shtick isn't anything special.

From a strictly gameplay perspective I think Gears 1 was the best, had the best multiplayer in my opinion. However, in general Gears 3 is the best all-around.

Gears of War 3, not only did it nail the controls, it offered so damn much. I love all three games, but it's hard to want to play the other two, when 3 is so good. If you ask a Gearhead, they'll probably say Gears 1 though. If I had to pick something from each game though... Gears 1 had an amazing atmosphere, I'm not going to say it scared me, but it was a bit creepy. Most people will complain that it was just greys and the game was visually bad. I disagree, I really think they nailed Gears 1 visually. Gears 2 had the worst MP IMO, but the campaign was probably the best of the 3. Gears 3 really nailed the control's and horde. I like beast mode too, but after playing Overrun I'd have to say I enjoy that a little more. Either way, Gears 3 was at least decent in every area of the game. My only complaints are the saw'd off and retro.

8 RepliesGears 3 I traded in my 360 a while ago and moved on to PC gaming, and Gears 3 is the only game I really regret giving up. Dat silky smooth multiplayer on servers Dat map selection Dat skill gap between players and weapons Dat campaign Dat Horde 2.0 mode (easily my fave coop game with bros) Awesome game.

3 by a country mile, in everything but Campaign bombast. Can't get much bigger than the giant worm. Not saying 1 and 2 were too bad for the most part, but 3 just pushed it all up to eleven, and was one of the many highlights of the best year of the 360's life IMO.
