I have just become a member of the 50's and over group (and loving it!) and after growing up in a non computer game world (loved that as well!) am amazed at the prospect of a game like Destiny being developed. Am I alone or are they any other children of the 60's eagerly awaiting this games release?

2 Repliesi am only 35, but i will say the adventurer in all of us never really dies. it is like diving into a good book or exploring a vast jungle. some people can take that tip to another side of this world and others do not. we all have responsibilities, but that doesnt mean we have giving up on a good adventure. Games like this can tell stories of other worlds, planets and species. unlike a book a game we can decide what path we want to walk and how far we can go and who we share this experience with.

1 ReplyEdited by Ocean Man: 3/24/2013 3:59:14 AMI said this a long time ago to pay respect to an old gamer like yourself, I'll copy and paste it here.
May your gaming days never end. And if you do decide to quit remember, Spartans never die, you will never truly be able to quit Bungie's games, they live within you and all the good times you had still remain. Respect, and may you legacy live on with your kids and grandkids.
The guy I responded to had kids, I don't know if you do but it seems fitting. Hope you enjoy Destiny, I'll be playing it with my dad sooner or later, until then be brave and I'll see you star-side.

9 RepliesBorn in '48 myself. Once I first played Pong I was hooked to games for life. I'm so grateful that I've lived to see how far video games have come since when they started. Hey, one of the perks to being this old is that time flies by way faster! Destiny is right around the corner, can't wait!!!

Man, I'd love to take after some of you gaming veterans. 30? 40? 50+? I really hope I can continue gaming for as long as you guys. My father unfortunately quit at around 36, and so did my friends father. Though seeing some of you guys on here gives me hope. Maybe I'm just stuck In my kid ways, "Oh I never want to stop playing video games!", but I'm serious. Even though I'm still just a little old mid-90's kid and didn't get to experience all of the things that make video games what they are today, I want to continue playing and meeting new people, long into my maturity. Hopefully when this game comes out I'll be able to play some of you old timers!

2 RepliesI'm 55 and will probably turn 56 before Destiny is released but I am psyched to play. Been playing Bungie games since Marathon, Myth, Oni and remember getting excited about Halo after seeing it running on a blue and white G3 at Macworld 99. In 2001 I switched from computer gaming and bought an Xbox just to play Halo. I was totally hooked when Halo 2 came out with Xbox live multiplayer and loved every Bungie-made game in the series through ODST and Reach. Halo 4 (by 343i) just didn't have the right feel to it. I am anxiously awaiting the arrival of Destiny and glad Bungie is planning a long term investment in this upcoming series. Best of all, I was watching the PS4 announcement, and it sure sounded like the Battle Rifle is back!

I just turned 30 and honestly when it comes to gaming I still feel like a kid. There is no game I'm looking forward to more than Destiny aside from maybe The Wizard of Oz pinball machine. Gamer for life surely, but my habits have changed. I used to be all about video games and now I throw plenty of billiards, pinball, and board and card games into the mix. Gaming fiend! The ultimate hobby I would say.

I do not see myself slowing down in terms of gaming in the foreseeable future either. To me gaming isn't about age, sex, race, or culture it's about sharing a common interest and enjoying that with people from all walks of life. I am soooo excited for Destiny to be released into the wild! Msg me if you are going to be playing on XboxOne(possibly 360 also), I already have two other people I am starting a fireteam with. If fireteams are limited to a certain number of people then we can all just roll together as seperate fireteams but work as a larger group!

It certainly appears you are not alone. And you can add me to the list. Born in the early 60s and have played video games since before they were, strictly speaking, "video" games. Love the look of Destiny and Kipling quote from the Jungle Book hooked me.

Your all awesome (except the lazy trolls). I'm 20 years old and the first game I've ever played was Tetris on my grandpas (RIP) gameboy, not the colored flip open one but the original black and white one. That game would, and still does, entertain me for hours. Then my uncle gave me a Nintendo 64 and a PS2 and I was instantly hooked to gaming. I now eagerly await the Xbox One and the eventual release of Destiny.
-
That's awesome, as a 16 year old, I actually enjoy playing with adults more than I do playing with a bunch of squeaker 8 year olds. Plus, most adults aren't sitting there trying to trash talk on a video game. I plan on being a proud gamer for my entire life. Keep gaming.

2 RepliesI am 41 and this is my most anticipated game next gen cant wait for it to come out

1 ReplyYou're clearly not alone, as this thread has proven. I'm 47 & have been gaming since I got my first Apple ][. I have been playing Bungie games since before "Pathways"; Spent enormous amounts of time playing Marathon (& building maps in Phorte); played the Myth series (remember the WWII and space mods?); woo'd my wife "Rabscuttle" playing Myth II on bungie.net. She's a gamer too (worked for SEGA years ago) and we've spent many a weekend playing Halo coop. Now we have 2 young kids... my 7 year old son would spend hours playing with Forge in H3 and Reach. (He was not amused with the changes 343i wrought on Forge; at least there's still Minecraft.) All of us are looking forward to playing Destiny and have already picked out our players' race/class.

5 RepliesChild of the 50's here. like you, i grew up on non computer games. I have watched, along with my children, video games evolve into what they are now. For me Halo is, and still is, a revolutionary game both in mechanics and story. I'm sure Bungie has created Destiny to be just as revolutionary and i can't wait to see it.

12 RepliesI've got to admit, I can't help but smile when people (especially the younger group) find out I play video games lol. I will be 53 in two months. I'm a selective gamer ... picky ... it takes a great story, excellent graphics, and playability for me to stick with a game. Destiny will have all that more ... Bungie is amazing!
