I have just become a member of the 50's and over group (and loving it!) and after growing up in a non computer game world (loved that as well!) am amazed at the prospect of a game like Destiny being developed. Am I alone or are they any other children of the 60's eagerly awaiting this games release?

38, started on the Atari and intellivision. Haven't stopped playing since. Although have lost a little hand eye coordination. Not as fast as I once was but love games all the same. Haven't been so excited for a game like Destiny since the PS one and Final Fantasy VII.

3 RepliesI just hit 49. To be perfectly honest I have given up on games lately. I have been playing since Space Invaders, Berserk, Tail Gunner, Asteroids, and the Atari 2600. The most recent releases though have left me completely bleh. I do not hold Destiny out as my gaming salvation either. Reach has put a pall over my expectations. I hope that this new game can and will revitalize gaming, but for now, we wait.

I'll drink to that! Cheers!

1 ReplyCan't say I was around for the 60', 70's, 80's, or a third of the 90's, so I'm pretty jealous of the life you've seen. But on another note, it's awesome when you see diversity in a community, whether in age, gender, location, and so on. I love how a game like destiny, even when it hasn't even been launched yet, can bring diverse groups of people together united in the ever long wait for a kick ass game. May Destiny be the one that dominates the world.

29 Replies40 years old, gaming since 8 years old when I got my 2600 and a 13" black and white tv for christmas. The evolution of gaming has been awesome to witness and I have no intent of stopping anytime soon. When I'm 70 and riddled with arthritis I will employ someone to play video games that I can watch. :)

I for one think it's awesome to see the older generation loving the games these days. Welcome to our awesome world of gaming of the future!

11 RepliesIm so glad to have found this thread! I'm nearing my 30th b-day. I have a 6 month old son. Wife wants another, and a full time day job. I heard 30 was the average for a gamer, being a month and half away, I really don't feel like it's the average... I started my first FPS w/Marathon. I'll never forget the first time I came across those skinny green guys with energy sticks and almost flying out of my chair. My neighbor who owned it laughed so hard he was in tears. Going from Mist and Riven to this was a big change for me!

You and my dad are in the same boat! He can't wait for me to come back from my stationing in CT to play it with him, he's got his Hunter build written down in his head already lol

48 ! I remember my dad ( he was and still is a geek ) bringing home the Magnavox Pong. My first console was the Atari 2600. I stopped playing in my late teens ( SNES? ) Women and a job! I started again when I saw the PS1 at a friends house and tried it. Haven't stopped since. I owned all the PS consoles. The PS4 is crazy cool. I can't wait to walk out into the world of Destiny. I just walked out of Final Fantasy 14 ARR. Where PS3, PS4 and PC's are all playing together. I want this game to cross platforms, at least the PS3,4 together , and xbox players together. I have seen the future in FF's accomplishment. Make it so Bungie. Please.

1 Reply41 here. Will be 42 by the time Destiny is released. Only time I get depressed on gaming is when I think back to all those quarters I pumped into cabinets. I think there were a number I could've out right purchased. Lol Watching the industry grow from Pong & Aladdin's Castles to 2600, Genesis & NES to this next generation has been marvelous. Always seems to be something to get excited over. Why do I game? Because I don't golf. :D

-blam!- yeah. Im only halfway there but one day I'll be the 50 year old waiting for bungie to release its next big thing.

Age don't matter. It's simply a number of years you've spent alive before hitting your grave.

2 RepliesI'm not quite 50, I'm only mid 40's. I really enjoy being a gamer. I have friends all over the world, the majority of which are at least 20 years younger than me. They can't believe it when I tell them my age. We are gamers and for me I will be until I can't can't hold the controller.

That's awesome.. I wish my dad was a gamer.
