I am sick and tired of every one of my teammates doing worse than me. I suck at this game, I am bad, if I'm on the top of my team we're gonna lose. When I saw "top player" I mean I normally get 13 kills a game and have a negative kd overall. How is the matchmaking so bad that I'm on top of the team? Can you fix the trash team balancing?

7 RepliesIt's not the matchmaking. It's handicapping and catch-up mechanics. It happens to everyone. Download DestinyKD and go look at the players on your team and the other team. I guarantee they're all right around your Skill Rating. I can also guarantee that in some of the matches where you're at the top, sometimes there are better players below you. It's not all "worse players" than you being put on your team. I can also guarantee that sometimes when you're at the bottom of the scoreboard, there are "worse players" above you. That's just how it works. Handicapping and catch-up mechanics are supposed to give everyone a chance to be at the top of the team every once in a while, and to also end up at the bottom sometimes. It's supposed to make matches feel more dynamic. Just be glad it was your turn to be at the top, while everyone else was getting slayed.

Yep. Any team that I’m in is in serious trouble if I’m the best player.
-
Lol if I’m on top of the board I’m like that’s not good ! I’m super average in PvP .

Translation - i want to be carried to free loot

1 ReplyThe better you become, the more likely it is that you'll be the best on your team. Don't want to be the best? Try sucking more

pvp strike team is working overtime,we can clearly see it

Gotta have that 50/50 win rate somehow

7 RepliesChances are, if you keep experiencing this phenomenon, you're better than you think you are. Sbmm is really good at making decent players feel like they're terrible at the game by repeatedly putting them in matches where they have to carry. Its also good at making bad players feel like theyre great at the game by repeatedly handing them players who dont know how to press wasd and a mouse button at the same time. Try playing a mode without any significant sbmm (of which the only one I currently know is trials, sadly), and you may end up surprising yourself with how many games you win when the matchmaking isnt arbitrarily deciding it for you.

But I have to tell you, Iron banner is winnable because it's about the zones - not how many you kill during the match. #1 reason I lose is because the team isn't taking the zone. Even if you run with three guys and just follow the opposite team you can get six points every time you take a zone - without killing anyone. But point is made. This matchmaking sucks.

8 RepliesHe's lying, guys. Just using the stat tracker provided to us, his KDA this season is 1.42. The game tries to maintain a balanced KDA between fireteams. If the game total KDA is 8.0, the game will try to fit the teams to match 4.0 on each team. This is why so many KDA boosters find trash teammates.

16 RepliesSo you're upset because you are top fragging for your team on a consistent basis? I feel like the normal response would be congrats. odd take...

Edited by SHOCKWAVE 134: 2/24/2025 1:55:31 AMYou should try being considered the best in the Destiny universe like me. As part of the elite D1 pre-alpha vet community, those of us in the elite tier hunter mains community who showcase our skill, passion, and gravitas vigorously, I get it I understand your pain. I’m always the ‘top player’ sometimes the burden is too much to bear.

Edited by toymakanik: 2/23/2025 6:13:18 AMI think this all the time... I don't understand how matchmaking can be so bad... there's no possible way it's skill based.. unless there are literally only like 6 people playing.. so how is it supposed to be fun for people who don't live in pvp? Or is that just it.. you have to live in pvp to get good enough to have fun... wouldn't be so bad if I didn't have to do 7 comp matches to even think about failing miserably for hours in trials... just what is the point?.. sometimes destiny makes me just feel like I'm a bad gamer.. maybe I am.. lol.

there is no pvp team, by the way. can you tell?

1 ReplyTHIS. THIS RIGHT HERE. This is the problem with matchmaking in EVERY competitive mode. Game Developers have given in to people who cry, cry, cry. If you're anything close to being a decent player, you're called upon to carry an entire team. Look, I have my moments and I'm somewhat decent, but I'm not good enough to carry entire teams consistently.

17 RepliesI would like you to read the title of your post again, give it a good long think, then consider how silly it sounds. Just a request, entirely optional.

1 ReplyWell you are just so good we are all trash compared to you

In PvP - I’m worse than this user. 😂

"Please give me teammates that are better than me!" There, I fixed the title! And I understand the expanded version is "Bungie, could you please utilize matchmaking to balance teams so there is a healthy mix, on both sides, of players where I will find myself somewhere in a range defined as "a little better than me" and "a little worse than me." *Abracadabra, your wish is granted.* Matchmaking isn't perfect, but you are being placed in matches based on criteria set by Bungie that is EXACTLY what you asked for, and the data is harvested from YOUR stats. Is it perfect? No, there are times the system says, "can't find enough perfect matches, open the parameters!" and then you get a few more outliers brought in, on both sides. I'm a PvE guy, but my impression is that there are more people playing right now and matchmaking is functioning as close to "as expected" than ever. Or at least the last few months. First rule of playing with randoms: If you want good teammates, then BE a good teammate. You can't control others, but you are in charge of you. Get a battle buddy (they literally put up a screen at the beginning of the match, pick the player with the best stats, follow them and team shoot!) or watch the guy throwing himself up front each time and clean up his duels. There's lots of decisions you can make that amount to more than, "why is NO ONE helping me?!?!?" Above all, stay with it. These most recent changes show that Bungie wants crucible to be better, even though there's long periods of no progress, awkward metas, complaining players, and small, incremental progress before big breakthroughs. Just like my crucible career. :)

Edited by Salty-47: 2/23/2025 8:11:40 AMIn what way are you the best on your team all the time? Out of all of your most recent matches, you were middle of the team except for like 1 or 2 matches. I wouldn't say being 3rd or 4th for almost every match makes you the best on the team.
-
I completely understand. I just take it as an opportunity to go out guns blazing. Take risks. Be the guy! As my name implies that I play like my wheels are falling off! Have fun. Many times I’m not on top, but sometimes I am.

1 ReplyGo play Trials. That should wake you up.
if I'm on the top of my team we're gonna lose.
Me AF. Something you can do to turn it into a win is find the 2nd best player on your team & stick with them. Shoot where they shoot & try not to bunch up.
