Prismatic should’ve been the final shape of subclasses. Merge them all into one big one with all your aspects, melees and grenades. Fragments might need some changing.
I felt underwhelmed playing prismatic on titan, because all I could think about is what build I could make if I had other options instead.
I want to use bonk hammer with banner of war and roaring flames. I want to use bastion with stasis shards and resist.
I’m pretty sure it would be very broken, but they’ve already upped the scaling of high end PvE, and if it’s too easy they could just bump it up again.
Prismatic should’ve been the final form of the guardian.

My hope is that they add more to it later this year like with previous new subclasses/subclass updates
-
I think that is the future but doing it now would undo all other sub classes as well as messing up their free to play model. I disagree that prismatic is underwhelming though. I’ll never take it off.

1 ReplyEdited by Ogma: Destroyer of Worlds: 7/5/2024 4:53:46 PMI thought that at first but you’re right it would be so broken. It would also make the regular subs more or less pointless. They wouldn’t even need to exist anymore.

It wasn't gonna happen.......I saw that a mile away when we could combo things they were never going to give us the strongest things of all the classes together. It would've broken the game beyond belief. Would it have been nice? Of course. Was it ever gonna happen? No.
-
That's what happens when they haphazardly slap together a subclass

9 RepliesPvp wise Hunter gets the best from everything. Warlock doesn’t get icarus dash. Instantly making it worst than dawnblade I don’t play titan so -blam!- knows

Edited by stinkych33Ze: 7/5/2024 1:53:00 AM
Prismatic should’ve been the final form of the guardian.
I was literally just thinking this earlier. If Bungie had really cooked with the extra time they got in Season of the Wish, they would’ve just combined all of our subclasses. I mean it would’ve required them giving everyone Prismatic, even those without the expansion. But it would’ve brought the power fantasy back, and it would’ve been the greatest surprise in the history of their franchise. It could’ve been so much more than what they limited it to. Which I don’t get, because Prismatic is supposed to “transcend the barrier of light and darkness.” Maybe one day we’ll see it…

I felt underwhelmed playing prismatic on titan, because all I could think about is what build I could make if I had other options instead.
I got chewed out by you people for saying this was exactly the case to come. 'Either Prismatic allows full freedom and breaks the game, or more likely it'll be curated and suppress its own concept.' Some of you guys had no pattern recognition and thought Bungie would do the former, when it was def going to be the latter. Especially when they confirmed it in that one blog. Says before says again; Prismatic should never have been a thing. It'll never actually be what the concept implies.

Issue is that the Subclasses for Arc, Solar, and Void are probably baked so deeply into the game that removal of them would either be nigh impossible, or break the game entirely. This, paired with the fact that making such prismatic subclass would break the games meta. Let’s look at some broken combos. Feed the Void + Mindspun Invocation (Shackle Nade). Pair it with Osteo and Necrotics, and not only do you get your grenade back nigh instantly with the buffed Devour, but you shut down everything’s ability to damage you, on top of constantly getting full health. Sol Invictus + Controlled Demolition, especially if Sol Invictus procs off Volatile deaths and the Sun Spots proc Controlled Demolition. Shadestep + Threaded Specter. Not only do you temporarily remove yourself from Radar, but you also create a new radar ping, making the new Hunter exotic boots borderline Irrelevant.

This is a test run for the Destiny 3 abilities.
-
it was the perfect moment to bring back full control over our subclass like D1, and they threw it away.
-
Why give us everything we want when they can break it in three and package each part as its own new release? Got to remember that the game’s content isn’t artistry, it’s a product, and they’re going to maximise profit in every way as long as there are buyers.

4 RepliesEdited by Hunter_Umbra: 7/4/2024 4:46:32 PMThere’s a rumor going around that D3 won’t have classes or subclasses as we know them. How that would be implemented, I have no idea. However, it could just be that Prismatic is the standard and everything is available for your class. Kinda miss Vanishing Step while on Prismatic.

Only thing I just hope they did was add BoW instead of Drengrs Lash. May be fun with Thruster but that is with the exotic (or spirit) for that Aspect only. That one Aspect off from being able to play as I want on Titan. Now if only Overshields were good in PvE and not gone in 5 seconds. And actually drew enemy fire to you when activated. And to add to it: Aspect should work with Stronghold in the damage reduction and using no energy (until actually throwing the grenade). Spirit of the Stronghold should've been on the class item.
-
They probably did want that to happen. But they will drip feed you those eventually. They are waiting for their numbers to hit low again. That's why they time gate most of these missions and whatnot. They want you to have a reason to keep logging in

2 RepliesI feel absurdly powerful but Im Warlock main. As I farm S tier exotic bonds and play with my builds it’s becoming clear I will rarely use the old subclasses anymore.
-
Edited by karrina: 7/3/2024 11:13:30 PMI want to use Gathering Storm and skip grenades with Shinobo’s vow - but I can’t

Hopefully with each new act them add more fragments and aspects.

Seems they made the decision to exclude some things that would have absolutely been nerfed if brought into prismatic. Think that's probably the right move instead of nerfing to make it fit into prismatic.
-
1 ReplyI think they’re gonna do some tweaking mid season. The same way they buffed strand after its release because it was so underwhelming.
-
1 ReplyLike you said, it would've been very broken if you was able to use everything and there'd be no reason to use the subclasses anymore if you can just make them with prismatic and make them even better, like a stasis titan with some healing Would it be fun? Absolutely, would it break the game? Probably lol Making a void titan with volatile abilities, bonk hammer for infinite volatile and healing and ability Regen ontop of banner of war is the first overpowered combo I can think of
