Pathfinder...yeah I'd rather not engage with this system.

So I can't get any rewards unless I play every activity or get extremely lucky in these "path" nodes and spring a series that won't require PvP kills... Bungie, I don't like PvP, I won't play PvP, I will not engage in PvP no matter how many times you rework the rewards or quest steps. I would sooner miss out on any reward than step foot in crucible or gambit. Am I overreacting? Yes, but I don't play PvP. I understand that means I miss out on Trials gear, Iron Banner gear, Gambit quests and stuff, I've long since made peace with that. Now; however, I am annoyed that now I can't even get the single weekly pinnacle engram from running strikes that I was able to do for years prior to this system. Bungie; some of us don't like Crucible, some of us don't like Gambit, some of us hate Strikes, please stop trying to force feed us all three of them at once.

  • If I can’t run vanguard stuff all the way to the end I just won’t be engaging with it. It’s as simple as that.

    • If there is one complaint I have about Destiny 2 is that it locks way too much content behind the requirement the player engages in PVP. I have been playing Destiny since the first version came out, as has my Dad, who is now in his 70s and is still my wingman. Over the years I have kept running into the requirement to engage in PVP activities for content that becomes available through PVE. Exotic Catalysts are a good example (not all of course). It has been more than once I have received a quest for a catalyst for some awesome exotic where I get six steps in and now it is asking me to engage in PVP. The Guardian Rank system is the same. I will forever be a rank 5 Guardian because to get to rank 6 requires participation in Trials of Osiris. And now the new Pathfinder system requires PVP activities to complete. Bungie, you have to realise that not all of us enjoy PVP. As a matter of fact, by locking content like the catalysts, the ranking system, and now the pathfinder system behind PVP activities, you are bound to alienate players who would otherwise love this fantastic game. I shrug it off mostly, but I do become frustrated when I get a cool new weapon, and it again requires me to kill my fellow Guardians to maximize it's potential. Bungie, I would ask of you fine folks to consider, when offering content, to remember not all of us enjoy fighting our fellow Guardians.

    • Hopefully Bungie will rework Pathfinder to allow us to choose the path we want. I don't want to be forced to complete crucible or gambit. As it stands I haven't bought Final Shape mostly for this reason. I have played Destiny 2 from the start.

    • This is a result of Joe Blackburn removing levelling. It killed crucible & gambit populations by 70% & 66% instantly. It was then they realised 'actually people were right when they said people only play these modes if forced'. So they're back to forcing people in there. After yet another thoroughly miserable legend boss arena & this, I'm all but done.

    • No matter what the reward is for the new Pathfinder system, i absolutely will not play PVP unless i truly want a weapon from it and i'm definitely not playing Gambit either, so i'm not bothering with it.

    • +1 for this topic. I, too, very much dislike Pathfinder and the way Bungie is using it to mandate player engagement. Bungie spent a lot of time telling players how they were going to get to play their way, do whatever they want, and get rewarded for it in this DLC. Pathfinder, however, indicates Bungie's failure to adhere even basically to that promise. In principle, the system seems fine. The problem arises from the fact that players can not alter the nature of the tasks on the path. I would like if- instead of continuing to try to shoehorn people into activities they don't want to do- Bungie simply let players choose the activity type on path nodes as they go along. Let me choose for it to be a random vanguard one, rather than a crucible task, for instance. I, for instance, also dislike PvP (vehemently and for a myriad reasons). I haven't enjoyed it for years. I will never play PvP again- barring some ridiculous, coercive reward. Until now, that has meant that I am locked out of anything made exclusively for Trials, Crucible, and- by extension- Gambit. That means weapons, armor, and in many cases catalysts for weapons I already own that- for some reason that doesn't make any sense to me- require PvP kills. The catalysts part is bullshit. The rest? Fine, I accept that sacrifice in the name of not having to engage with PvP. Under this new system, I'll be missing out on considerable reward opportunities tied to doing activities I don't want to do. And not simply the rewards for those specific activities- no, these are additional bonus rewards that are part of an overarching system that is, by design, agnostic of the mission types being completed. For that reason, I should be able to achieve those rewards doing only vanguard or PvE-specific activities. Similarly, somebody who doesn't care about Destiny 2's story in the slightest and is just here for the PvP should be able to achieve those bonus rewards doing nothing but PvP.

    • The whole point of the pathfinder system was to give a way for thoes who didnt want to do gambit or pvp to get the loot and i just noticed that the only node that allows for non of that ends up forcing you into gambit or pvp. What a shitty system. Not to mention we just lost a source of XP++ and XP+ with the pathfinder system. The vender bounties were XP++ for weekly and XP+ for daily, Repeatable gave XP and Bright Dust. I cant see anyone being ready for Day one without bounty prepping ngl

    • I just made a post and saw you posted almost the same exact title before I made my post. And all the comments on both our posts are unanimous, so it's definitely seeming like a general consensus that most of us cannot stand this stupid pathfinder system.

      • Yep - looked at the various paths and saw that no matter which one I followed had at least one, if not more nodes for an activity that I simply refuse to play. Unless there is a change, I have no plans or desire to engage with this system no matter how big the carrot is at the end of the stick.

      • Indeed. Strikes have been whittled away by battlegrounds, which are less popular. Crucible is overrun with cheats, so no one wants to play PvP. And Gambit, which has been neglected for years, is, well, Gambit. This was a clever ploy to try to force people into playing these failing modes, to boost player numbers.

PvP without dedicated servers is an atrocity and I won't participate in it. Not to mention mnk vs controllers which is lobsided too. The new system sucks big time!

Pathfinder gives prime engrams.
