Armor affinity should be removed. It would help switching saved loadouts from DIM , as well as utilising a single armor piece on different builds (which we can't right now due to armor sub-class restrictions)

Tbf a lot of things don't make sense in destiny 2 just like the armor. Why is raid armor and their associated mods completely irrelevant outside of said activity (hive/taken mods how I miss you). How is it that there is no way to buy every mod released from a previous season(s) when you literally have 2 vendors doing the exact same thing.

5 RepliesEdited by xbroggiex: 11/12/2022 3:47:33 AMWhile it does suck, its there to prevent you from running overpowered combination of mods on certain pieces of armor. Like on your boots for example with Recuperation and Better Already. Literally the boot's middle slots would only be Recuperation and Better Already because why wouldn't you want a chunk of health and health regen just for picking up a single orb?

16 RepliesIt exists because the game doesn't have enough memory for all those mods on each piece of armour so they needed a way to reduce the amount of mods on an armour piece. What you're asking for is literally impossible.
-
10 RepliesWhy not have another armor piece for that build?
-
14 RepliesThey can’t remove it until they start sunsetting gear. Otherwise you get one perfectly rolled-set, and then hold onto it forever and use it everywhere. Making armor irrelevant as loot…
-
It is somewhat "pointlessly shite". Wait... I fear my statement has a much broader meaning...

Like a few things in the game, we’re probably stuck with it until Bungie drops support for last Gen console hardware. Base PS4, PS4 Pro, Base Xbox One, and Xbox One S/X. They’re hampered by hardware that released 9 years ago and was already underpowered. I assume the only reason they still support them is due to the number of players that would leave behind. It likely affects every aspect of current development and support. A case of management prioritizing revenue over quality. A difference in philosophy from when Rise of Iron in D1 didn’t release on Xbox 360 or PS3. I dunno, maybe it’s just because Xbox Series S/X and PS5 has sold as well due to supply chain issues, so fewer people have upgraded.

the entire mod system needs a complete rework lol

2 RepliesEdited by The Rat King: 11/12/2022 1:29:08 PMAt the very least, if Bungie wanted to keep the super grindy nature, they could just make it so you can unlocked all 30 total spaces. Like you’d unlock one affinity then another then the last one and it would enable you to mix and match mods.
-
I’m fine with it. I just wish that changing you affinity before masterworking a piece of armor wasn’t so expensive. There no reason going from one affinity to another cost only an upgrade module at 10 energy, but if you only have 9 energy you have to use enough materials to upgrade a whole ‘nother armor piece.
-
Thus game is poorly designed and as a result removing armor affinities would break the game. It physically can't handle all the mods

13 Replies[quote]Armor affinity should be removed. That’s why they’ve been doing things over the past few years to reduce the number of mods there are.
-
I think it’s fine, I just wish it was free to change just like how it’s free to change mods.
-
4 RepliesBump. Stupid idea in the first place. So many mods I don't experiment with because of this silly limitation.
-
They probably can’t remove it, but just make it free. They already removed the cost of changing armor/weapon mods.
-
Remove affinity COST
-
I believe they said the UI couldn’t handle all the mods at once
-
It’s creates so much waste instead of streamlining the game.
