Now to start off I don't want random hate mail or just point that don't have facts to back them up like "get gud", or its the best. I want a constructive argument. Also this is talking about mostly PvE solar warlock.
_________________________
First of all, why is daybreak the way it is? The 10 minute cooldown, the completely lackluster duration, the lack of versatility and use in PvE, and the overall damage are nothing of what it could do before. Why would I use this over well, such an overpowered super along with it completely making bubble useless. And second... if you guys balanced everything around well... why the hell did you think that was a good idea? Nobody wants to have there only viable option being well and all everybody wants you to run.
-------------------------------
This comes to another point... holy -blam!- -blam!- who the hell thought leaving warlock with only heat rises and Icarus dash and touch of flame was a good idea? Icarus dash is so unbelievably useless compared to something on the other warlock subclasses like frost pulse, ice flare bolts, glacial harvest, stasis turret, chaos accelerant, child of the old gods, and devour. Second, heat rises? This aspect has some use in the fact it heals and it gives melee energy but that's all. What is the reason for this when the healing can be done for the same cooldown as throwing a healing nade at the ground or have the extra versatility of throwing it at your teammates. The melee energy is all it has going for it. This can be done on other classes and have more build versatility. The only build that comes to mind is monte carlo, winters guile, snap plus heat rises. Or you could just run sunbracers but that works on everything. Dawn chorus works yes but now its been removed which means most likely its going to be nerfed, changed or completely deleted as its the only thing left of bottom tree dawnblade.
--------------------------
Now on to pheonix dive, arguably the worst class ability in the entire game to top with this already -blam!- subclass that's held onto by delusional people. First of all, its cooldown is the same as rift making it already unappealing as its an instant heal. Second of all, an instant heal for your teammates doesn't matter when your rift does the same thing but sustained. It may have scorch on heat rises but if you in the air to take advantage of that you just asking to almost die.
--------------------------
Why would I run pheonix dive or heat rises with healing nade when: first of all, heat rises makes you more vulnerable when jumping giving it extra risk factor, healing nades can be thrown for the exact same health but at much longer ranges, pheonix dive is just a one time heal when you could have rift, a constant heal your teammates can come back to. The scorch aspect of it doesn't matter because if your that close to enemies chances are your going to die in harder content.
-----------------------
Well is the only thing on this subclass plus pheonix/starfire protocol. That carries the subclass besides dawn chorus and winters guile. It feels like the whole subclass was balanced around it making everything seem so lackluster. From the aspects being very limited, pheonix dive just being plain obsolete, one of its supers being the worst in the game and having bullocks duration in pvp, this class is just so worthless and non worth it compared to stasis and void. Arc warlock is something for another time and needs buffs/reworks too.

1 ReplyYour opinion on icarus dash almost invalidates the rest of your argument. Think of Daybreak more as a support super like well and it makes more sense. Your cooldown argument is good though. 👍

3 RepliesEdited by GreenTwinGamer: 10/1/2022 1:54:51 AMI don't main or play Warlock but I can understand the frustration of being forced into 1 super because it's the best in the game, and using anything else but well its just throwing. And when going into any raid'like content you are forced to play the same role over and over again because its mandatory. That said I do think Solar Warlock currently in PvE is EXTREMELY strong with touch of flames, since it allows for insane damage with fusion and restoration x2 from restoration grenades. But looking at the aspects that is not touch of flames it feels very much like Warlocks were given PvP aspects though I do think heat rises is close to be both since it gives you melee energy just for killing enemies while being in the air. What I think that needs to be done is nerfing well by removing its damage buff and only keep the healing and damage resist since this would automatically make Bubble necessary again, to me the fact well does everything bubble does just better is really dumb. In PvP i would give it a tad higher cooldown (same goes for bubble) I would also give Warlock a new super that focuses more on damage that should be an instant one and done super (Throw your sword similar to the new Hunter super Gathering storm and this new super should do the same damage as Gathering storm or at least similar damage) I'm a Hunter main so luckily for me I can usually use whatever subclass I want since all the Hunters subclasses does fine. The only subclass for the Hunter I feel is quite lackluster is Solar Hunter since it doesn't really have any good aspects except for Knock'em down which is carrying the subclass extremely hard. While I think Gunpowder gamble is unique its also really bad, since it has a massive cooldown and only gives 1 fragment slot so its hard to build with. And On your mark is pretty much just a reload and handling buff after landing a precision kill or dodging (Feels more of a PvP aspect than PvE) I feel Solar 3.0 kind of missed the mark, and are in a dire need for another aspect.

9 RepliesWell of radiance is all a warlock is good for these days lol
-
3 RepliesI love Icarus Dash. Can be used to go omega fast and can make for some neat platforming tricks too. Daybreak is.... ok at best I suppose. Again, I tend to use it mostly for mobility instead of actually killing stuff 😂
-
1 ReplyThe reason to why Daybreak is so bad now is because it is the pvp version. We used to have one for pvp and one for pve. Unfortunately Bungie decided to remove the pve one.
-
3 RepliesI main warlock solar with 100 in mobility, recovery, and discipline and PvP. The 31 sec healing grenade is nice. I do wish double icraus would come back as both classes now are able to do some sort of speed boost. The airborne effectives kinda tanked solar warlock as floating and shooting was its thing. Dawnblade in PvP should have reduced cooldown now though since all other classes get super faster. The only thing nice about the dawnblade now is the little wave when it hits the ground. Otherwise you are just an easy-flying target. Maybe they should make the dash consume less super.
-
2 RepliesThe idea was to get less people to play warlock so when bungie finally removes them there will be less backlash.
-
Solar 3.0 for warlocks was just a Nerf. Solar Blades got destroyed and they basically left Well alone.
-
1 ReplyI was running an explosive build on bottom tree dawn blade before the change. I was going around igniting enemies in pvp and applying poison with the grips and I honestly thought bungie would allow me to still do that. Imagine my disappointment when I see its almost impossible to ignite targets in pvp? The only reliable way to ignite anyone in pvp as a warlock is if they have an over shield or standing in a rift. Meanwhile hunters can ignite targets on every melee kill with the knives. We cant even blow enemies up with the warlock melee anymore which was actually not a bad melee before the change and now thats impossible as well but hey at least we got a garbage snap ability thats only good and reliable in pve.
-
11 RepliesSolar warlock is in a good spot. For pvp it has 100% air time. For PVE it's one of the most needed subclasses.
-
Dawn chorus wasn’t removed. It’s in the list of known bugs.
-
Touch of flame was a good call for the class but I think it would have benefited greatly for having Benevolent Dawn on top of that.
-
3 RepliesUnfortunately, when you make a post, you do so realizing there will be people who agree and disagree with you, but most importantly, there will be trolls. With that out of the way, I've always approached Warlocks the same way other MMORPG's incorporate mages, sorcerers, or whatever they're called as defensive, and support roles - at least when it comes to their special abilities/supers. Solar, especially, is going to be used for ad clear, and survivability.
-
why do you care if all you play is mayhem and lost sectors Lol
-
1 ReplyI don't play Warlock much, but I did like the finger snap. That was a fun little surprise.
-
I would normally give you the runs about warlock but I can kind of agree about solar. Gutting bottom tree daybreak was a horrible mistake. Dawn Chorus is terrible now and if anyone says they're using the helm for scorch builds they are playing wrong. Jotunn, Skyburners, and Prometheus are not very good at all and you can get the same if not better scorch ignition going using starfire and healing wells. I don't even use starfire spam anymore because there is no effective healing. Well of life isn't good because it can be interrupted and the heat rises consumption is just an instant cure. But, there is a nice offensive add clear phoenix protocol build I've been using so it kind of alleviates the pain of bottom dawn being wiped out. I don't use healing nade, I prefer fusion spam still and use it to build super regen back asap with phoenix. I don't bother with flying using heat rises either, the perks are fine just with bunny hops. It seems bungie just assumed everyone liked top dawn for pvp or well for pve and definitely split the class that way. I absolutely never used top tree because I don't need icarus dash in pve and I don't really use solar pvp either. I guess they also assumed players want to fly with that winged dawn exotic which is pretty useless. Flying in a GM will get you insta killed without question. The super time needs to be lowered by 50% if it stays in this state (daybreak). Daybreak needs to be returned to what it was, or get rid of phoenix dive and put bottom dawn related perks as aspects. We shouldn't have to use all fragments just to make the super mediocre.
-
I think it’s fantastic.
-
it doesn't help that the healing on icarus dash doesn't work half the time and the healing on heat rises is worse than the healing devour consume used to give considering it replaced it. they were such bandaid fixes that they are underwhelming and disjointed at best and just don't make sense at worst.
-
9 RepliesMfw people want Bungie to buff the best subclass in the game. To an extent, I understand the frustration with lack of healing... Somewhat. But you can run healing nade. Anything you might say is "better" about another subclass is mostly niche scenarios. Source: switched from hunter to warlock because hunters are really bad right now. I play a lot of Master/trio raids, GMs, etc.
-
Pyromancer, healer, and air combatant. However, bungo failed with each of those goals. Air combat is not a viable option in endgame content. Dawnblade has no healer aspect. Dawnblade with no exotics lack offensive capabilities and Daybreak is now the weakest super because of the removal of Everlasting Flames.
-
A nerf “play well or -blam!- off” -bungie
-
Dawnblade identity should be an ac130 roaming the skies murdering things Plus you have mentioned 4 possible build potentials all with different exotics - a lot of other subclasses on warlock and Titan n hunter don’t have that (arc hunter for example) But it does need better aspects I think that’s it’s problem tbh a couple other tweaks Solar and arc fragments aren’t that great either tbh
