What’s not considered a “crutch” in PvP these days?
Serious question. I haven’t played PvP in some time, but I used to use Darkest Before and it was a strong contender with all the hand cannons, and now, all of the sudden, pulse rifles are considered a “crutch”. What isn’t a crutch these days?

I pay good money for gun that actually looked like a crutch just so I could use it in PvP for the laughs.

Autos, titans, scouts, warlocks, trace rifles, heavy linears. That’s about it.

Anything outside of Lord of Wolves, Last word, Crimson, Le Monarch, Lorentz & Arbalest. That should be about it. Maybe Opening shot snipers, but that’s it.

1 ReplySnipers by a mile. You win a trials round against a team and boom now your facing 2+ Snipers. Oh started the game 0-3 and bot walking trying to spam melees? Time to put a sniper on. Lost a round of comp time to switch to a sniper.

Edited by eeriearcade: 7/3/2022 9:49:00 AMI get a load of “trash fusion user” messages after matches. Who cares? I’ve been maining scout/fusion/sword since Taken King. That’s been my favourite load out regardless of any buffs and nerfs along the way. Use whatever you enjoy using 👍

5 RepliesSidearm other than drang, high impact fusions or scouts.. It's what I main, Messenger, Perses-D, Iota Draconis, or Punching Out. I rotate through all those weapons. I try to 'avoid' the meta. I wouldn't exactly put that with the messenger but I use the scout more.

Pulses have been good for some time. When players are having a bad game, they will switch to a pulse, that tells you everything you need to know But the problem is, now everyone is just starting with the pulse bc they know it’s easy, some might say a crutch When I run into pulse rifle players and they beat me a few times, I put on my piece of mind and usually come out on top. They’re stupid easy to use, lasers with no flinch

Everything that you use that kills another player that is unhappy about you using [insert weapon] to kill them. You didn't know that you have to ask your opponents prior to loading into a match what weapons they are ok with you using? Where are your manners?! 🤣

I can’t really use anything without people telling me I’m crutching something. So I did a 1v1 and I used all white gear and weapons. I still was called a sweaty crutcher because I was using a shotgun, (stubborn oak). Anything is a “crutch” if you want it to be. And nothing is a crutch if you don’t want it to be. Well.. in most cases

When you crutch something, it means that you can’t use any other weapon or ability without playing terrible. People use it in a way to discredit something they hate. “PuLsE rIfLe CrUtChEr!”, or “SpAm CaNnOn!” I main a Hand Cannon, because they’re my favorite to use based on feel. But alot of people hate them. Cool, it’s whatever and I won’t even think of talking bad about something you like, as long as it’s not PvP breaking. But when they call me an HC crutcher, I just scoff because I can pull out an Pulse or SMG like them and play just as good. They’re TRUE exceptions to this rule like Last Word currently, pre-nerf Arby or Lorentz Driver or even abilities like Classy, Omnioculus and Lorley, because they were genuinely game-breaking. But a crutch is whatever makes you play the best, I guess.
