Topic body
Dumbing down the raid is not going to help you learn the raid. Watch a video or get someone to teach you in the actual raid. None of the mechanics are difficult to learn.
-
There is a way to practice. Its every attempt of an encounter before your team clears it, that's practice. Challenges are meant to be challenging.
-
its called lfg and raid. make a post saying learning raid need a sherpa.
-
What would a practice mode even be??

Edited by vxvxTITANxvxv: 5/3/2022 4:35:36 AMI think people need to learn that it’s a perfectly fine option to take a raid on one encounter at a time. You don’t have to complete the whole thing. It’s a great option for people that don’t have much time to play video games. Edit - I think every raid needs some sort of “wish wall” too. That way people can pick up where they left off, even if a week or two has went by.
-
Practice the raid, by doing the raid. *Mind blown*
-
Edited by Interpol89: 5/3/2022 3:31:23 PMThey need to remove the wipe mechanic. That’s what makes it tougher for new players when they’re learning how to complete the encounters.
-
Well what they need to do is make a separate raid playlist with matchmaking and have the same enemies but weaker to learn the raid. Only downside to it would be zero rewards besides learning the mechanics/steps.
-
Watch a video? There’s dozens out there. Then find a group who doesn’t give a -blam!- if you want to learn how to do X job in the fights. We need more people who understand at least some of the mechanics. Simple as that.
-
Normal mode is considered practice mode
-
3 RepliesThere are people willing to teach on lfg. Just keep looking. Also if there is a teenager on your team, just leave
-
2 RepliesThere’s a long story mission for you that does just that my man. I think it’s very strange people like you ask for things like this when they exist. Plenty of sherpas can make a raid feel like a practice/training raid, and for some reason people ignore that part of the community but focus on things Bungie will never add lol
-
Edited by Smough: 5/3/2022 4:04:04 AMWhat would a practice mode even be compared to the actual raid? It’s not like you have to restart the raid if you fail an encounter, you can keep trying until you get it right.
-
Gotta be honest: never having step foot into this raid with anyone else, the whole point of "practice mode" is such a weird outlook. Find a group, wipe a lot, get through it. If you can do this with the LFG function, great job. Maybe a lowkey discord is another option if you dont want undue pressure.
-
Just make an LFG post saying it's your 1st time. You'll get at least 1 or 2 willing to teach you. Then make another post To fill those members.
-
Edited by RingersCheckmate: 5/2/2022 11:18:36 PMWhat would this "practice mode" look like? I think raids are just needing an in game LFG system personally, and for "practicing" the preservation mission both adds to the story and offers a way for inexperienced raiders to see symbols and how they work

4 RepliesIt's really amazing how many people take it as a personal affront if you suggest something to make the game more accessible.
-
What? Practice mode is in the raid until you learn how to do it.
-
I second this. I'm 100 percent a hands on learner so having stuff explained to me or watching a video ain't gonna help me at all and yet I'll get trashed on for not knowing what to do. There's no way to train properly for anything in the raid without getting trash talked down for the first few hours. Hell, the Tower doesn't even have a firing range ffs.
-
1 ReplyI really love that idea. It would be better because people always have been so toxic to me whenever I try to learn a new raid. I haven't touched a raid since toward the end of 2020 and it would be nice to try to learn a raid without toxic people making learning raids the most painful experience and ruining the game for me.
-
8 RepliesOr you can practice where we all practiced. In the actual raid.
-
7 RepliesI mean, the current setup of just… going into the encounters is practice enough. It’s not like theres any penalty for wipes.
-
"Practice mode" is getting five other people and then y'all go die a lot together until you get it, like the rest of us did lol :)
-
3 RepliesPlenty of peoples willing to teach Try seeking a guided game raid Youtube if it's only to learn ,there's also great schematics on reddit We don't need a practice mode or a easier version of the raids ...that's just adding nothing
-
10 RepliesAgain Division 2 shows up the lack of care Bungie has (in-game saved loadouts, free Transmog, saved appearances, crafting, practice mode raids,...). It would get a lot and I mean a LOT more people raiding. You can simply fight your way through with a numbers based difficulty scaling, use any mechanics to maximum possible extent or bypass them, but don't get raid gear rewards. Familiarity would alleviate much of the snobbish KWTD that appears on Day One onwards.

Bite the bullet and make your own lfg post. Title would be something like. Learning run, have patience, have 6 hours to spare, (for this raid in particular) have a second screen/phone with a picture of symbols and names available. Have a mic It will take time but the first few runs always do.
