In some instances these animations feel like they take too long especially in certain areas in the game where the ground is uneven and can cancel the rift animation because the game thinks you are air born trying to pop a rift yet attempts to anyway but ends up not using the ability due to the animation taking too long, things like this could be fixed with a faster animation for both classes.

I would be happy if the just fixed the bug where warlock rifts don t deploy while you are like 1 nm -blam!- e ground or standing on a microscopic stone...

They are supposed to be strategic and preemptive ways to lock down an area and get map control, If you could use them faster and they were more "reactionary" abilities then balance would be out the window

With the bastion perk slotted I can deploy my barricade pretty fast.

Especially with all of the benefits that barricade’s give now there should be at least a little delay for a punish if the player recklessly uses it in the open while getting shot at from multiple angles. That’s what makes it balanced it’s strong but it shouldn’t be an automatic get out of jail free card. Barricade Is meant to be a proactive ability like rift instead of a reactionary ability like dodge is.

Yes they should be more consistent with placing, and maybe you shouldn’t be stuck there for a millisecond after placing. But! Hunter shouldn’t be able to go invis on dodge either, significantly too spammy. Hunter doesn’t get to shoot instantly coming out of dodge either. (TLDR) ALL ABILITIES ARE BAD WHEN YOU USE THEM INCORRECTLY. UP YOUR BATTLE IQ AND USE THEM PROPERLY

Exotics that effects these abilities should buff the cast speed by 25%.

I hate when you are running and the ground dips 1 millimeter and when you press the jump button it activate your like jump ability rather then a normal jump

42 RepliesFOR THE PEOPLE SAYING DODGE IS UNFAIR: Rifts and barricades provide a team benefit that lasts for about 20s after popping. They can heal, give oversheilds, give weapon damage or block all damage. They aren’t supposed to be used during combat, they’re used before or after. Dodge is just that, a dodge. Now invis needs to be nerfed and bottom tree arc damage resist dodge should not be in the game. But dodge just gets you out, that’s the purpose. It is SUPPOSED to be popped during a gunfight. Marksman’s dodge reloads guns sure, but it’s much easier to hit and doesn’t cut AA. The class abilities are balanced, that’s the last thing to be talking about right now.

When they did the speed update, they became instantly too slow, with hunters being the only class to benefit from the Go Fast update. They need to be updated, either with faster cast/animation or slowing down hunters. It's like warlocks having a slower melee for 3 years, an old mechanic that doesn't exist anymore and needs fixed. In my activities and crucible, the long animation time is a death sentence unless you plan well in advance. Hunters have a panic button that works instantly and is useful everywhere. I hate it.

Completely agree! Right now I think they have 2 choices, either bump the damage resistance while casting Rift and Barricade to around 50% or so, or speed up the cast time and keep the resistance at around 25%. I would prefer a cast time that is around 33% faster. I think increasing the damage resistance is more of a band-aid.

1 ReplyIt takes a full second after placing a rift for Secant Filaments to actually grant Devour. It should be simultaneous. Not sure if speeding the animation up will help that, but it’s sure annoying.

I'd have to argue no. half the fun is watching your character last minute realize, "OH CRAP! I'm not by the wall" as a gernade is coming at his face." But a lot of that stuff is hand animated, compared to the mo cap work. It can be tweaked up as silly as a Fallen sniper.

I've died mid rift animation a lot this season in PVE. Very frustrating. Especially when I'm well past the recommended light with a 10 resilience, and go from full health to dead in milliseconds. That is simply not enough time to pop a rift. Period.

mate so many warlocks commited suicide when they casted rift. They want to help others or just get safe second, but instead its suicide since they r locked in that animation for eternity. Just play hunter, dodge grants instant invis at begining of cast (instead of titan/warlock abilities) and has very fast animation while moving (instead of titan/lock)

2 RepliesForgot the cast time, I want to know why it feels like the healing rift healing seems so much slower now than it did last season. There has been plenty of times where I've thrown down a healing rift and my health straight up doesn't even start recharging for a good 3-5 seconds after the fast. I constantly have 100 recovery and that doesn't seem to help either. Sometimes I throw down the rift and my health starts charging right up, other times it's like "hold up, wait a minute... Ok I'll start now." 🤷🟣
