They burn through ammo too quickly but are too strong to be outright primary weapons so this is a middle ground: Trading in the power of a Shotgun/Fusion/Sniper Rifle for something that sustains itself and is readily available for ad clear but not so available that it replaces your primary.
The ammo regen would not add ammo onto reserves but would only refill the magazine after being stowed for 15 seconds.
What's funny is it would be great in low level content, bad in Raids but usable in GM's for those into that kinda thing and it's not powerful enough that it would be like Hiding with Icebreaker from D1.
Also, whenever a season has Anti-barrier mod for Auto Rifles, it should also work for Trace Rifles. Damage against Majors could also use a boost. Let's make them a viable option in loadouts.
Edit: This function wouldn't work in PvP.

You also get the benefit of having increased heavy drops.

15 RepliesLet’s not.

2 RepliesNO special/heavy weapon should EVER generate ammo. All that does is screw up the ammo economy in PvP. Now, if you want to increase the amount of ammo you get per brick in PvE then I could get behind that one.

1 ReplyThere is a mod for legs that reload your stowed weapon. There is Trace Rifles version so you should try it.
-
1 ReplyThey could do a mod. Static charge on legs. Running recharges trace rifle battery.

2 RepliesEdited by sum12mezzwith: 1/10/2022 6:44:33 PMThey need to be given back primary ammo. All trace rifles.

No one can bothered to actually read posts anymore before commenting. Lock this up Ninjas. I quit.

1 ReplyGet one with Subsistence and don't worry about reloading.
-
6 RepliesThere is the Trace Rifle Ammo Finder Mod in the helmet… have you tried that?
-
3 RepliesThat defeats the purpose of special weapons. In PvP, legendary trace rifles (for now it’s just a rifle) are good. They could use a PvE damage buff but all and all they’re solid. A good first step

13 RepliesWe do have the dedicated Holster mods for that, and there's only 1 Legendary Trace Rifle sooo??? Add on some Trace Reserves, Trace Holster, and there's also the consideration for getting a roll with Genesis that regens ammo when matching shield damage. And it has 4 decent options for additional damage so you can kill more while using less ammo: One for All, Harmony, Golden Tricorn, Frenzy.

1 ReplyNo they shouldn't unless they have either auto loading holster perk or your using the mod on the legs.
