Leveling is not content and its only used to gatekeep content

The hot take is that leveling is just a way of holding hands to who doens't have skill to do PVE endgame activities like VoG master, wich is reflected on LFG with the "1351+ or kick" posts, little do these people know you can do VoG this season with a whole team of 1340s
Edit: the people saying i got carried i am pretty sure got offended by me showing reality, feel free to pull any stats and say i got carried in the end i dont need to prove i have skill to anyone
Edit #2: i am not talking about myself, different from a lot of people on the forums i acctually think about the others, being kicked because they are underleveled, this is not something that should happen, bounties is just the way some people use to have hard content be made easier
Edit #3: bungie is already doing changes to leveling, bounty grind is already coming to an end and so is the easy time of people who mindlessly grind bounties

I agree and one of the major reasons I’ve not played for nearly two years. I just can’t be bothered to get on the hamster wheel, even though the game is really fun. I’ve just moved on.

Because it is the pinnacle activity of the game, it will lead to players wanting those who are closest to the level that the activity is capped at. If you’re working at a high level job, would you prefer to work with the high school graduates, or the ones with bachelors? That’s why people set these requirements, so that they can have a filter on who joins, in hopes to get it done as quickly and smoothly as possible. Going on about what you said about Lfg requirements. Like others said, the people on lfg will always have a certain requirement in their post. Back in D1 trials people used to say “Have flawless emblem”. There is always going to be a requirement that people set and there isn’t really a reason that you should have a say in it as it’s their post. Don’t like their post? Keep scrolling or create your own. Edit: Added a comma and “who”

LF5 to do VOG. Level 1340+. Or LF5 to do VOG. Will Teach. Any Level. Seriously, not that hard. I did like 3-5 Raid 101's a month During Red War. So, stop B####### about what others want and make your Own.

Sweat and his team did master VoG at 1330, but that doesn’t mean the average player should. The average player likely doesn’t want to spend 6 dps phases in 1 encounter, so they request people in the 1350’s for the extra dps. That’s not gatekeeping, it’s just having your own requirements for the lfg. If someone wants to do Master VoG with a bunch of 1340’s they can make that post as well, or if a 1340 wants to make an lfg nothing is stopping them. Now if someone posts just asking for master VoG and doesn’t mention a level requirement, that’s on the poster. But for the most part, if someone says “must be x level” or “must have x gun” that’s not really considered gatekeeping.

LFG's a little different - if I was playing with a bunch of strangers, I wouldn't want to risk losing all of our res-tokens on someone who was underlight, without knowing if they had to talent to stay alive in spite of this. If it was friends, or clanmates, then I know it's not going to be a hard carry. That's why I refuse to do LFGs now unless it's something simple, hence the entire purpose of joining a clan

I mean yea? Obviously? Bungie is still always going to do this because it satisfies their investors by creating high player engagement numbers. Horrible for players and their fun factor but that's how Bungie operates and always will operate. Waste as much time for their players as possible to keep them in the game. Instead they could provide actually fun, replayable and engaging content but you know their poor employees could get "overworked" if that was the case. Really hard to just hire additional ones with all the scammed money they squeeze out of their loyal community with this scummy full blown free to play with more mtx focus than fortnite + pay to play model they have going. Or actually optimise priority management of development time but that's impossible for them apparently.

I put higher level request in GMs as well cause higher level players usually have better build & more experience then the players who are still at 1345 for GMs or end game content. I am so happy I don't deal with ppl like you entitled as hell.

Instead of light levels, every mission should have an enemy difficulty rating from +0 to +25. Content already caps your level anyway, so why not just not have levels at all? Armor and weapon leveling should become the main progression and armor modding should be much more meaningful and encouraged.

Can Master VoG be completed with a whole team of 1340's? Absolutely, but that team will struggle a lot more than a whole team of 1350's.

4 RepliesMaster Vog is for those who put a $h!t ton of time and effort into grinding power level to a point where Master is not over powered. I am now sitting at 1361 and over powered for the encounters which are 1360. If a request says must be 1365, I won't join it.. because I don't have the requirement. I won't complain that that group didn't want me to be in it. Those who complain about power restrictions in lfg posts are simply after the exact same thing those who made the post are looking for, an easier time to complete the mission. ITs that simple. They guy sitting at 1345 and is kicked because he didn't meet the requirements won't go post his own lfg for 1345 or higher.. or he/she/they would have done so instead of the -blam!- post about not being able to join. ITs that simple. We all play for fun, we have different levels to what is acceptable for our fun. Everyone knows that the higher power level you have you will have a better chance of success, making it easier for the team and likely more fun. Those that don't meet someones threshold would reduce the fun for the person making the request. Same story been around for years.

I’m probably remembering it wrong, but the day master came out I was both underleveled and someone on my team I could swear was 1337 or pretty underleveled. Stasis makes master kind of a pushover

Anyone who is buying "The Witch Queen" is just buying something you've already bought. 90 minutes of "new content," in the campaign, then you're going right back to 3 strikes, gambit, crucible, a dungeon and a raid every week just to raise a damn number higher. I already spent a sh*t ton of money on that and I'm tired of, essentially, buying the right, or the privilege in Bungie's eyes, to continue to do the exact same thing again. Once you're past the new campaign, you go right back to doing what you've already been doing. Nothing changes. Nothing improves. Unless you want a higher number and a vault full of rolls on guns you'll never use, there's no reason to keep buying this game every year.

Which in turn makes the story and universe a convoluted mess of incompletion and loose ties. Bungie fooled everyone into thinking that Activision was holding the game back, when it has been Bungie all along as we are in the thick of it as it stands. Youre right leveling is just a gatekeeper to content, some content we had access prior to even. Remember that it was Bungie that wanted to make up for losses of Forsaken sales through the Eververse (even though the expansion was great for us, it didnt win back the players it lost prior). Before that we had the Prismatic Matrix where you could get nearly everything in the store with bright dust. Now there is more focus on the whales than compelling content. If it was a completely free game like say Warframe, then there wouldnt be much of a problem with their monitizing. Warframe used to get alot of flack for their monitization, when its expansions and events are completely free.
