The harsh truth a lot of you need. (Trials)

Hard to swallow pills : you all refused to play the mode before and now expect yourselves to suddenly be great at it. On top of this you assumed match making meant you'd suddenly start winning even though you're bad at the game mode. Furthermore for God knows what reason you haven't learnt that lesson yet so you think freelance means you a bad player will suddenly start winning. No if you're bad you're bad and you need to practice to get better. No trials isn't for the sweat Lords anymore, you can literally get all the rewards aside from adept weapons and mods while losing constantly. Bungie made fantastic changes you all just refuse to practice, refuse to take the blame for loses often blaming your team of randoms or accusing the enemies of cheating or no lifing. Most of all a lot of you actively refuse to use any form of lfg as well as never using fire team voice chat during games effectively shooting yourself in the foot from the get go, and then you're shocked you lose more than you win. This season bungie is not to blame, sweats are not to blame, streamers and content creators are not to blame, YOU are to blame. Edit : I want to throw this in here because I did not expect even 1 reply let alone the hundreds it's getting and I have no intention of replying back aside from this edit. Soooooo many of you are quick to get triggered and miss understand the tone of the post. (Shout out to the large amount of people that have left positive comments I see you <3) Anyways the clarification is this; there is nothing wrong with being bad we all sucked when we started and that's a fact, the problem is the majority actively refuse to put any time at all into practice in order to improve and instead immediately rush here to complain. Not 1 single time did I ever say opening up to solo and duo players was bad for trials idk why you people think the "1t W4s DyiNg B3fOrE s0loS gOt L3t iN" is a valid argument here given that's not in the slightest the thing I'm addressing. Yes it was dying, yes I'm happy with the population increase, but your attitudes are gonna just kill it again. And finally arguably most importantly something I left out of the original post cos it was already longer than I wanted it to be; match making exists in trials purely as a form of practicing, introducing you to the game mode, and warming up before joining a team that is all. Is it possible to solo a ton of wins? Yes. Will the average player be able to do so? No. Can you solo flawless? Yes. Should the average player expect a solo flawless? No. Ayo I final thing why so many replies being like "bro the changes were good" yeah my dude I straight up said in the post the changes bungie made are fantastic lmao we agreeing

        • As a trash can pvp player. I know I'll never go flawless. I will however still try and help my team. Yes I have looked on lfg for a team only people that would even consider running with me are the ones looking to make bank.

        • I don't think the majority of below-average players expect to be going flawless. But they also don't want to be constantly, viciously curbstomped into a bloody smear by elite hardcore players. That is incredibly UN-fun. Even if you go in expecting to lose most games. And the casual players aren't going to stick around to suffer through that type of experience week after week. The entire format of Trials is flawed. It requires hype and a player population that cannot be sustained in the long term because at the very core the mode is not FUN for the majority of people as long as its primary function is to be a "rich-get-richer" vanity mode for the top players to feast on everyone else. Freelance will at least fix teams stomping solos. And if the matchmaking algorithm is "fair" then you have a statistically even chance of having a "fair" match, which is going to be a lot more "fun" for solo and/or casual players.

Harsh truth for you, from another random person/player, like yourself: - Stop pretending to understand the motivation and behavior of every player. Just because you spend over 50% of your time playing PvP activities does not make you an MMO FPS sage (data which is publicly available per your Bungie profile). - Your bro-isms made your post very unattractive to the eyes, and even after forcing myself to digest it, I see little to no value in it. - Individuals will play Destiny and furthermore Trials as they see fit, are entitled to provide feedback as they see fit, and Bungie accordingly is entitled to receive - and act on - said feedback as they see fit.

I’m awful at PVP and I’ve played Trials since it opened up to solo players. I do have several friends that are exceptional at PVP and could easily take a free carry every week to an adept weapon. I choose to play solo to try to better my play so I can carry my weight down the line. Playing in Trials has helped me a little already. Going back to quick play seems like I’m playing a little better. I’m getting a couple extra pinnacles and have gotten some really nice rolls on weapons I wanted. With that said being stomped 20 seconds into a round by abilities and specials isn’t any type of learning experience and when it happens 10 matches in a row becomes frustrating. I’m looking forward to free lance to get gud so I feel comfortable enough to play with my sweaty world beating friends and not be a liability. I don’t expect to go flawless until I earn it but it has to be set up in a way that many of us can learn to improve. Im in awe of how some of the stacks just blow through matches and any time I win a one on one against a player like that, it’s extremely gratifying. Although it’s a huge learning experience while losing matches that are lessons of how to improve, I think making it an actual positive experience is what they need to focus on. It will only make the mode bigger and better in the future.

Personally holding off until freelance hits the game mode, and no I dont expect to magically win because of it, I like freelance as its the most level a playing field the games pvp modes can get. I dont mind losing as long as Im outplayed by my opponents but being pitted against a premade of seasoned trials vets isnt the experience Im after experiencing the mode sure Ill give it a shot If and when the conditions appeal to me. And Ill speak for myself only the reason I dont LFG is that LFG should be ingame, the last thing I want to do when trying to unwind for the day is fart about with apps outside of the game Im trying to play. A simple ingame que or teamfinder that would allow me to still play while waiting for said team/instance to pop up would be a major win in my book as it would keep me ingame and opens up the same if not similar experience for many who would otherwise avoid LFG. I expect to have my backside handed to me many times when I finally take the plunge into trials, Im not experienced enough to expect otherwise, hell I havnt even touched regular comp as I typically hate 3v3 modes, I even hated the 4v4 quickplay at D2s release, as I prefer the chaos 6v6 offers, loved both clash, control and to a lesser extent rift from D1

            • some of us have families and jobs... So F U... I love this game and love crucible. I am ecstatic about the new flawless pool. Im getting there and gonna love it... Not getting beat up by flawless stacks that play 8 to 10 hours a day is gonna be a massive relief

            • Without casuals, trials is dead man walking. This is bungie last attempt to keep this going. Even streamers see the numbers in trials. When more are playing gambit than trials on certain weekends, bungie is questioning whether it’s worth the investment anymore. Let’s be honest, they did not shut down trials for 18 months because it was great. Bungie has attempted to cater to casuals and look at the results, over 700,000. However, the blowouts were way too high which would mean those casuals will leave the mode so they are making adjustments to ensure long term engagement. That means that the way you have had this mode is going to change and not necessarily in your favour. Bad players complain about being matched to 3 stack flawless teams without any wins on the card. That is a legit complaint. Some how elites have the impression, not all, that trials is specifically for them. That is bs, its endgame for all and bungie is simply doing what should have been done long ago. What bungie needs to do is have rewards for the best, but not weapons, but with armor, ships, ornaments etc which gives status of achievement. Adept should remain as is. Trials needs to succeed to validate effort and cost. That is what bungie is trying to do. Without average and casual players, trials dies slowly overtime, now it’s got a chance to shine. Bungie also stated their goal is to remove flawless que, so let’s give them a chance, they just started. Corporations make changes at their speed based on priority, impact and cost, not on player immediate needs. Your opinion can influence their decisions though, so keep them coming. Apologize for long note but hitting on casuals that make up 85% of the player base does not help this game. The live DCP podcast was great this week, cool guy, cammy, and company said we accept making it harder on us if it’s healthy for the game. That’s where the focus should lie, not complaining about casuals. We suck compared to you, it’s you that have to deal with it. We deal with getting our brains blown out every week, but my time is rewarded so thanks bungie, bet they do not here that often enough. Bungie should create elimination trials during the week which is sbmm with their own guns so people can play trials all week and learn to play it better to address your concerns. However, no adept weapons, that’s for trials elite in which all can play as well.

                • The hardest truth to swallow is a lot of Trials players like farming noobs to get flawless and their adept weapons. But the noobs won’t stick around for long to get farmed. So some type of noob protection needs implementing like the flawless pool. But most flawless players don’t like that because it makes life hard for them. So yer we’re all the same at the end of the day, we all want it easier.

                  • Bungie letting in Solo players into Trials is one of the best and worst decisions that they've made for the playlist. It helps with population, but it makes the game mode even more toxic to play because of queue-dodging and the fact that there's no freelance mode to prevent solo players from having their even playing field. In-game comms do exist, but they're so rarely used that I don't even remember the last time I heard someone say anything with in-game comms. No, I don't expect to go in solo cue and just instantly start stomping on every team I face. I just go in solo cue because I don't have a team dumb enough to run into Trials every weekend. I'm not a great player by any stretch. I spent 5 seasons just grinding out comp to get Luna's and then in the same season got my Not Forgotten, and haven't gotten legend since. But I still got my Luna's solo and I don't run the most meta loadouts. But if I go up against 5 3-stacks in 10 games, there's no chance for me to go flawless, especially when most of those 3-stack teams have gone flawless before. I don't expect to stomp, in fact, I want to fight tooth and nail for a single match win, but I don't want to just go in against unbeatable odds because the game decided it was a fair matchup to put a group of solo cues with no flawless runs total against a full team with 100 flawless runs this week.

                  • Solo queue sucks big hairy heads. That’s all there is to it. I’ve got limited time to play and I can’t be on my headphones ignoring everything around so, for me, it’s getting old fast. I love that I can play a few matches solo, but if no freelance is added my play time in the playlist will decrease dramatically

Instead of giving Solo players and Avg PVP’ers a “harsh truth”, how about thank us for helping you resuscitate ToO. Question: why are you guys so afraid of going up against people who are also teamed up and on your skill level???

                          • This might be one of the most narrow minded, ill thought out rants I've seen in a while tbh You've basically taken a few strawman arguments and bound them together. First of all, this notion that solo players are wondering why we struggle without Comms, without fireteams etc .... Err no... We just want freelance because it lets us have the same opportunity without having to listen to mouth breathing -blam!- like you on the mic Here's a newsflash -blam!-... Most solo players don't want to get in a fireteam because we don't want to listen to some mouth breathing, fat shitebag who's accomplished nothing in his life except his destiny stats, try to tell us how to play. I want to play on my own time, by my -blam!- self, the only thing I want is the OPPORTUNITY of a fair battleground while running solo. That's what freelance gives me because it takes out the Comms/fireteam advantage. None of us expect to suddenly go flawless , although funnily enough I went flawless this week for the first time, with no Comms and solo, so go figure. Here's a hard to swallow pill for you...the sweatlords, those upper echelon players at the top?...yea they're such a tiny part of this community that they could all die tomorrow (you included) & Bungie wouldn't even notice a difference to their game. The reality is the overwhelming majority of the population are casual players and of those a huge amount are solo players. By making changes to open it up to those players they are creating a far healthier mode that might stick around, as opposed to a deserted mode full of sweats holding each others dicks every weekend. You really seen like a -blam!- tbh.

                            • Bungie is changing with the times. They are a business and want to make money. The majority are average to below average players. Players who PAY to play this game season after season. They will increasingly build towards the casual player because of this, and hopefully sending the ego inflated sweats shrieking into the void.

I got the weapons and the armor set on all three characters so I am done. I have no desire to go flawless.
