Can someone explain what a "sweat" is?

And why they're such a bad thing?

  • In today's day and age it's anyone who's better than you. It means someone who tries hard.

  • The best to play imo. Casual play has its place for sure, but it’s great fighting a similarly skilled team. Good feeling if you win. The other is just fodder for video content. Why people -blam!- about it is beyond me. Most are just scrubs like us anyways.

    • Same as a poopsocker. Sweat = spending so long and trying to hard at a mode that you get all sweaty and smell like a pair of unwashed salty -blam!-. Poopsocking = camping/playing for a drop for so long that you refuse to leave the screen and poop in a sock to save having to go to the bathroom.

    • It's someone who plays only pvp and has every mod tuned perfect for cheap 1 hit kills and dodges seemingly everything including direct hits while the can get headshots from aim assist so strong that they can literally fire past your leg and hit you in the head. They are bad because they are using more assist mechanics than anyone would reasonably expect and so it seems like "bullshit" to anyone who has even 1 or 2 perks not made for assistance.

    • A sweat is anybody who beats you, but you can’t find anything to call cheating. Also called a try-hard, because trying to win is bad (unless you’re doing it). If somebody beats you, and there’s anything even slightly sus, they’re cheaters. You’re laggy af and shots register late, seeming like you got 1-shot? They cheated. Likewise, any weapon or ability that kills you is OP and requires no skill, and whatever weapons and abilities you use require skill. Hope this D2 PvP primer helped.

The technical definition is a high skilled player who participates in organized scrims/tournaments against similarly high skilled players. The Bungie forum dwellers definition is basically anyone who is better than them at PvP The reason the are bad is because nobody likes being beaten at PvP. It makes people angry and salty and post in the forums.

            • The synonym is "try hard". Normally the "sweats" go into matches to pub stomp with very efficient and top tier builds. They reap very little reward and cower when facing off against other sweats in their bracket. They get a bad rep because many of them are whiny manchildren who want everything for themselves and hate it when other players catch up to them.

              • A PvP player who boasts frequently about their high KDA and number of Flawless runs. They typically use these stats to bully less-skilled players and are universally toxic (meaning, they usually bag and emote spam after every kill) If they had their way, Destiny would be exclusively PvP with some of the most hostile gatekeepers ever known.

A 'Sweat' got the name from playing in friendly comps organised by top tier players, player groups or Clans. They call those games 'Sweats' Since then it has been used by lesser skilled players or players that don't play Sweats as a derogatory term for try hards in pvp.

                • A Destiny sweat is someone who: has an over inflated sense of their own worth, think they own a game mode, tells others they need to 'git gud', repeatedly says 'trials are end game'... but then when faced with the prospect of having to face opponents of equal or better skill, claim they just want to be able to play casually.

                  • Someone who puts winning before anything else - which to say that they will use any means to have an advantage. Some examples include: Going in as a 6 stack in a “casual” playlist. Camping Super “cooking” Exclusively using the meta Quitting out of a match if their KD drops below 3.0 Using exploits Playing in a way that is completely devoid of fun if gives even a slight advantage. You get the idea. Of course, the term is used interchangeably with anyone that is just better than you so… make of that what you will.

It has two meanings 1: a player who always uses the meta pick weapons and abilities who usually has a 3.0 or higher KD 2: another word for a scrim match which is a hosted 3v3 private match that usually has awards for victory 3: moisture exuded through the pores of the skin, typically in profuse quantities as a reaction to heat, physical exertion, fever, or fear (credit to Oxford dictionary)

Idk I've been called one and I'm definitely not a sweat lol. It's bungie forum logic kind of like calling a pre made fireteam a "stack" despite them potentially all being .4kd. Also like complaining about matching "flawless teams" that aren't flawless that week but went the week prior and are super negative kd. Or assuming all "flawless teams" are 2.5kd+ gods that need to be separated into a plague "flawless" pool so they can play people at their skill level despite the "flawless" pool skill level being a wide range from .3kd to 2.5kd+.

                  • Someone with far too much time on their hands who takes pride in things that if you were to say in public outside of those with like interests you would probably get teased and or bullied because that’s just a nerd flex.
