This is open for anybody to comment but I'm hoping one of the moderator see this. I find it extremely stupid that a moderator will come along and threatened to ban people from the forums if not outright suspend them from the forums for a week without prior warning but yet they can't seem to stop the endless wave of solicitation in the lfg section.... But then again what the heck am I saying, I must be an idiot.. Tje destiny world is over 7 years old and they're still no dedicated servers and anti-cheat how could they possibly stop people from breaking terms of service on their app.... my bad...

Yeah! I'm glad that i'm from the older generation, when we still had freedom of speech. I can't even make my own ID, because a troll reported me, when i changed my ID, just to get him back. This guy is trolling other players for years and he never gets banned. He provokes you, untill he brings up the worst in you and then he plays victim. I'm a "Bungie" player from HALO and i was one of the first people on Bungie forum (with my old "Halo" email address and XBox GT) and now can't even make a Forum ID any more. Just because one troll, who always gets away with it.

1 ReplyUnfortunately its a bunch of no name power hungry fools. I've seen posts that use out right derogatory words and nothing happens but if you saw compare the harassers to whiny girls you'll get banned in a second.
I see why you find that stupid, and that's okay. However, your very first warning is in the Code of Conduct itself. It's linked in many places, like directly above the forums, near the post button when you write a reply, and so on. All Users are urged to read the Code of Conduct. If you ignore the rules, that's on you, not us. Neither do we threaten anyone. If anything Bungie does, since those are their rules, their Terms, their forum. We Ninjas simply enforce the rules. A Warning is not a threat. It's a Warning. A reminder to stay within the rules, as if we would say "Hey that's not okay. Please stop.". If we ban someone directly for a week or month, there's a very good reason for that. We have guidelines on how we issue Warnings and Bans. Our first guideline is the Code of Conduct itself. One other I am able to tell you about, because it should be obvious anyway, is that we issue actions based on your record and the severity and context of the violation (those aren't the only factors, of course). Someone is new, never had an action and used a soft insult? A Warning is appropriate. Someone has 14 actions for Personal Attacks and similar on their record, some of them recent, they just came off a 30-day ban and immediately insult someone again? You likely get another month of timeout. Someone is new and doesn't have a record, but out of nowhere actually threatens other Users with the nastiest things you can imagine? At least a 30-day or, after speaking with Bungie, an immediate Permanent Ban. You see, there are many factors that go into our decisions. Some of them may not make sense to a User that just received a Moderator action, and I understand that. We try our best to be consistent, and we evolve with the forums. Some things that may have been okay in the past, we now act against. Some things can slip through our net, because we can't be everywhere. It's also why we are dependant on User reports. You can always ask us what's up. We will be happy to explain to you in private what caused a Moderator action, why it's that length and so on. Of course, you should check with the Code of Conduct first, most of our actions should be explained by them and the extended explanation of the Code of Conduct. All we ask of the people is that you be excellent to each other. That brings us to the last part of your post about the Fireteam section. How do you stop an endless wave? You can't. You can fight it, but there's only so much you can do. That's pretty much our situation on that. We regularly go through Fireteams, regularly ban Paid Services but they just come back another way and do the same. We are limited by what we can do with our tools. We also aren't expected to hang out in Fireteams 24/7, since we all are volunteers and we are also busy with the Forums, Clans, the Report Queue, and answering your questions. We try our best, and we constantly give feedback on this to Bungie, but we are painfully aware it's not enough. As long as people use these services, it's likely they will exist in some form. All we can do is forcing them to do their business elsewhere. Everything else is up to Bungie. Also, our limited capabilities in Fireteams doesn't really have much to do with how we act on the forums. Saying this because you somehow made a connection between these two.

Well if people are willing to act like idiots by spewing hatred in the forums, then they should be treated like idiots and face bans and it should help them reflect, then I highly support bannings in forums, the same way of getting a school suspension.

I've found through my own what...7-8 bans that they did so with relative consistency. During the d1 days I was a legitimate prick on here and so rightfully I got banned for insulting people over and over. My last ban was during curse of osiris where I made a sexual joke concerning osiris' cookies being made of brother Vance's sweat and vex milk. Every single one of those I can understand in their entirety. Is it always going to be consistent? No. Is it always going to be quick? No. It varies and with how large the number of players can easily just crank out accounts to spam the forums...I'm not even surprised if their consistency and speed drops. Yes there are things they can and should do better, yes bungie should have better systems in place, but the mods and ninjas are just people like we are where even the very rules they are supposed to follow isnt always the easiest. Cut them some slack...at least the main ones that comment and stuff.

3 RepliesThe mods suck. I called someone idiot once and was banned. The only positive thing I will say is the mods are forgiving. I’ve been banned from a day to a week to a month over stupid shit but I respect the fact that unless you just do some horrific shit you always get another chance. You learn from your past mistakes. So I amend my first statement they don’t suck but certainly are overzealous most of the time. And you have zero recourse against a ban

Edited by SolarCerberuS: 7/1/2021 8:12:26 AMYou think thats bad I got a restriction and warning once for refering to Xbox series x and ps5 console scalpers as a certain feminine hygiene product....... Yet countless posts of blatant abuse, bullying and obscene language goes unrestricted.
