Seriously, never before have I seen such Bs mechanics and tacked on additions that detracted from the experience that just aren’t fun. Raid dev team should be ashamed of themselves for putting this contest modifier this way. This habit of putting absolute bullet sponge enemies is not a good practice. Either stick to easy mechanics w/ hard enemies or hard mechanics with easy enemies. This is both, unforgiving and a mistake always resulting in a wipe. Safe to say I’ll steer clear of day ones for a while after this travesty.

I mean it was hard but I found it quite fun. It wasn’t just mindless shooting like everything else in the game.

2 RepliesWait until streamer d ick measuring mode is turned off, and it will be fine.

3 RepliesGET GOOD SCRUB

Way too many bugs on ps4

4 RepliesThe point of day 1 is to have hard content to play.. Can't deal with that don't play day 1.. It should be hard.
-
wrong title, vog day one was not fun for bad players

So don’t do it on day 1?

16 RepliesFrom what I am hearing on Twitter, Reddit, and just from other raiders, these were pretty good changes that fixed alot of issues OG VoG had at keeping player's attention long term. (The bullet sponge is just due to contest, wait till tommorrow before posting that). VoG had a notorious issue of having only one player feeling impactful for the team doing everything with the relic and everyone else just kinda, along for the ride rather than working together as a unit. VoG 2.0 fixes some of these issues generally forcing players to work together to figure out the best way to address a more equally spread out threat of an encounter. Relic is still important but isn't a cheese for skipping mechanics. Calling out Aethon oracles just meant someone had to be paying attention and people had to use their brain to figure out the environment to stand to see a similar view for callouts. Detainment kinda sucks, not going to lie, but honestly it wasn't that bad. Yes, I cleared Day 1 with LFG after 13 hours. Its tough, but fair(ish) minus the bugs with the relic. However, I kept catching you little LFG entitled raiders who think they should clear in 3 hours. Take that mentality and shove it on a day 1 raid day.

1 ReplyI’ve been saying for months difficulty is getting out of hand

Day 1 was meant to challenge the best players, and it did. A second run through today seemed laughably easy today.

Let see who asked 🎤🦧

Get gud

1 ReplyGot 7 snipers, 5 arms and a helmet. Yeah great RNG. Not fun at all
-
if you dont like contest mode dont play contest mode
-
Downvoted. It was fun on day 1. Challenge mode the second run through was actually a challenge. If it's not for you wait until the 24 hours is up. Vog is super easy now that contest/temporal is disabled. Excited for master.

1 ReplyVOG day 1 was GREAT. Proud owner of day 1 completion

Couldn't disagree more. Contest mode is fun because it's the only time in destiny these days where something is genuinely difficult and not just handed to you, not only that but trying to go as fast as possible while cracking the code on what the mechanics are and how the encounter works is the most fun I've ever had in destiny. It's not even like you have to be super good or play with pros, my team were just a few people that only recently met and are average players yet we were ahead of redeem until Templar. I feel bad for people that don't experience day 1 raids because you won't ever play anything else like it in destiny even if you don't finish on day 1

4 RepliesJust the damage given vs taken really ruins it....

7 RepliesContest mode really isn’t targeted to be “Fun”. It’s meant to be challenging and Taxing.

Day 1 VoG was great fun. Now its a joke. The mechanics weren't changed that much, you actually have to pay attention to oracles order now. That's not a hard mechanic to grasp. The enemies were sometimes annoying but easily dealt with when using the proper tools. What isn't fun is seeing people complain and cry when they don't get day 1 after 5 hours and purely blame it on the raid team. Day 1 is a commitment, not a casuals paradise.

1 ReplyGo play fortnight. I loved the contest mode and I’m no pro not fo play 10 hours a day. It took us 10 hours just to get to Athion. Didn’t to the challenge mode obviously. What i loved about it was the fact that everyone has to pull their weight, think about their loadouts, act on the move, adds we’re not pushover. Overall it’s was a big challenge. Loved the shit out of it. So much fun! Didn’t kill Athion but did it the next day and tbh it was face roll. The changes to the oracles are good to. Judging by a lot of the post people at not able to figure mechanics out and executor them. It’s laughable at times to see some of the post in hear. -blam!- -blam!- -blam!-, how about get good !
-
Skip day 1 then?
-
I would disagree. Although my team couldn’t even beat normal because of our time shortage(we started at 4 and got to Atheon at about 10 and quit at 12. So that’s 8 total hours with two of them being AFK). We still had a bunch of fun with me making one of my favorite moments in the entire Destiny franchise.

Day 1 wasn’t intended to be fun for the entire player base. It was for Bungie’s pet streamers and nothing else. If everybody was playing and enjoying it nobody would be hitting those like and subscribe buttons. It is an easy enough fix. Release a raid with contest mode and normal mode on day 1. If you want to race to world’s first, you have to enter the contest mode. If not, you can just play the normal raid. I would have been completely happy to go into normal mode on day 1 and enjoy it. But Destiny is not made for regular players any more. This ain’t the Halo Bungie.
