I'll start by saying I think Bungie has been doing a great job with seasonal content for Destiny 2 since Beyond Light. Aside from a few quality of life gripes, you're on the right track. Better storytelling, better activities, and a whole lot more fun than Destiny ever has been. That being said...
Now, I'm not a fan of PVP in Destiny 2. Haven't liked it much ever with exception to a brief period during D1; even managed to go flawless in Trials during that time. That being said, I think it's pretty crappy to string your community along like this. No meaningful effort to fix PVP. No fun content or modes. Not even a new map.
You're alienating your PVP players who have been sticking with you in spite of near zero effort on your part. To make matters worse you're pissing off PVE players who have to wade into that hot mess every week for their pinnacles and quests; and put up with content being locked out of the PVE experience (Warlock turret) because you can't manage PVP.
At this point (to me at least) it's simple; either do something meaningful (a roadmap?) with the PVP in this game to fix it or say you're cutting it from the game completely to make room for a better PVE experience. Cause PVP the way it is is just making the game noticeably less fun.

This is a great post although cutting pvp from destiny would make them profit way less and it wouldn’t mean more pve it would just mean less things to do and less players

Saying
or say you’re cutting it from the game completely to make room for a better PVE experience
won’t change PvE for the better. If Bungie is spending Zero time on PvP in the first place Ignoring it to the point that it’s gotten to. They’ve practically already cut it from the game by IGNORING it and you’re not getting any more PvE content or a “better experience” than we normally get. We haven’t gotten a new map in like 600 days. Not one. So they’re not spending resources there. No new game modes so they’re not spending it there. No new changes to IB. It’s the Same old broken Hunt mechanic Control games. It’s not there either. So where are they already spending that imaginary time at? Like you say it isn’t in PvP! I agree with your cause but getting rid of PvP won’t mean more PvE time. That time doesn’t exist as it is. What killing off pvp will do is It will instantly kill off a quarter of the playerbase.

Great observations. I am primarily a PvE player but would be ecstatic if Bungo would spend more time improving PvP to make its devotees (and ideally everyone who plays it) happier.
To make matters worse you're pissing off PVE players who have to wade into that hot mess every week for their pinnacles and quests; and put up with content being locked out of the PVE experience (Warlock turret) because you can't manage PVP.
That right there is the centerpiece of a lot of the gripes about PvP from "the rest of us." Bungo keeps messing up the product, and rather than invest useful effort to improve it they coerce people into it via rewards that can't be obtained any other way. Wouldn't be surprised if some of the management in charge of PvP has bonuses tied to Crucible player participation counts...and other bonuses tied to budget targets.

Brilliant post and completely agree. I think Bungie needs to put up or shut up with regards to PvP. Cuz at this point what comes across is gross negligence and ineptitude in game design.

well said.

6 RepliesYou sir are a rare individual in this community. Someone who does not like pvp but respects that other people do, all while realizing that we are getting the complete shaft in that department. Thank you and I wish there were more like yourself!

More Crucible maps would improve PVP.

5 RepliesRemove pvp pinnacle weekly reset for gear. There done. Pvp needed to always be on the back burner when it came to the game. It never needed to be a main aspect of the game. It should have been a side thing that you play when everything is all said and done and not be the last thing to do once pve gameplay is done. So as much as you think pve players are mad that pvp is finally not being a main focus your wrong. Yea they are mad cause of the pinnicale gear being locked behind pvp in general so that’s why I said to remove that and there no more problems. But as for making the pvp player base mad. Good see how it feels when the shoe is on the other foot where that idea is finally being ignored. Pvp has and will always be the bane and cancer of destiny cause it has made the balance close to impossible to deal with making characters that were suppose to be demi gods into nothing but super zombies.

If they cut PvP a good portion of the player base won’t play nearly as much. PVP is where people go when they’re tired of running the same 3 strikes over and over again.

I’m glad everyone that’s commenting is respecting this guy, doesn’t matter if your not good or bad at the game if you notice flaws in a game that I’m sure most of us love to play like I do then there needs to be discussion.

The only thing is get riding of pvp will cause so much back lash they might have to end D2

There are so many sources of pinnacles nowdays, I don't see any issue with the one that's locked in trials. The 3 matches one is only a plus 1 so not super valuable. IB ones are annoying though because the bounties are super grindy.

Agree except storytelling. The darkness is coming! It is almost here! It's here and Savathuun! Actually, leave the darkness: Xivu Arath! Forget that, fight cabal (because something something Xivu. Still forget the darkness - actually the Vex! Seriously. Think about all the seasons we've had - forge, drifter, etc. etc and how incoherent the story has been. Then imagine loads of monkeys hammering s keyboard. Any worse? Nope. Seasons are just there to tide us over between annual expansions which fail to change much either.

I play both a good amount of both pvp and pve. I’m come to the conclusion that bungie doesn’t care enough with all the problems and controversies concerning it. If it had to be paid to play that section of it, it probably WOULD get regular updates and maps and such. But since it’s part of free to play, they realize it’s probably not as important since it (apparently) makes them no money.

Cash cow game. We've been doing the same stuff for over 3 years, with little activities here and there. Yet somehow they've managed to finagle the minimal content they do have into these elaborate quests and unlocks.
-
1 ReplyI remember back when the game started off I remember the theories that Bungie wanted to make Destiny 2 into an ESports. That didn't work out well for them did it.

PvP was always an after that & Bungie has even stated this.

1 ReplyI completely agree. Personally I've always felt that PVP grew beyond its intended use. And now Bungie is unable to balance both PVE and PVP.

🎶Super match game super match game super match game! 🎶 You've won a blankety blank cheque pen and book!

It was never meant to be a big part of the game just the little side bar action that games have to fill in space. It needs a rework to benefit all players not just a few like now or just removed.
