"Even old wolves still bite" - lord saladin

My gamer tag provides a hint of my age - 57. Been playing Destiny since day 1, and can genuinely state I played the original “Pong” in the 1970s. I owned a Colleco Vision gaming system in the 1980s (which used -blam!- tapes!). I still have my CD of Myst from the early 1990s. Been gaming a long time ... And despite the long history, I still am mediocre at best at everything in Destiny. lolol. I do try though.
-
I might not be too old at 47, but my Mom and Dad play and they are 81 years old
-
I am 50 and have been playing since D1 Taken King. Does that count as old?
-
What age group you mean? 40+? 50+?

15 RepliesSometimes the younger generation forgets the crap we went through to get gaming where it is today. My first console was a Atari 2600 lol so to play better games we spent our free time and our money standing in line all day at the arcade to play the games we loved. Many of us were harassed for it and called losers, geeks and nerds ( they used to be insults) by everyone else who just didn’t understand why we liked games, computers or movies like Star Wars. I’d say we won that battle, everything is game or comic related now :) Moral of the story is... screw what other ppl think and do what you love, life’s too damn short.

5 RepliesEdited by mayo68: 3/8/2021 11:36:08 AMLegend is a strong title, but I will tell you what all of us 50+ somethings are...blessed. We witnessed the beginning of the game console revolution. No internet, just guys hooking up on the sticks. Mono E Mono! We enjoyed the true joy that was the arcade after school and on the weekends. Those were the days of true adventure. Our "legacy" will be the evolution of the professional gamer. Something we all dreamed of, but were told by our parents would never be. Having said that I salute the next generation and may you be blessed by gaming just as much as we have...and continue to be! ✌🏼️

8 RepliesI've been in raids with 3 generations of my family on the team. In D1 my son and I would meet up on the moon. It's amazing to see the progression of video games, from Pong (played on an original Pong box) to Atari 2600 (bought at age 11) to Play Station to now, what? Play Station 5? The famous side-view 2d arcade games that ate so many quarters. Defender Space Invaders Rygar To see games done in proper 3d, with realistic graphics and an immersive environment, is what I dreamed of when I was protecting earth in Missile Command. What's next? VR, I suppose. My son actually said to me the other day, "Imagine Destiny in VR." Though I don't think destiny will ever get done in VR, there will probably be a future release that is. But if it does, you'll probably find me on the moon.

5 RepliesEdited by vxvxTITANxvxv: 3/7/2021 7:38:41 PMI like gaming with older folks because they understand that it’s just a video game and they don’t take it serious or get upset. They’re usually just there to have a good time and relax.
You guys are dope
66 is just a number. Destiny is my favorite hobby. Solo casual who enjoys playing all 3 guardians. Stasis is part of the game so I dabble in it. Titan main. Looking to join a clan of easy going older Destiny players. If you earned it in game, you should be able to use it in game. Not a fan of the nerf crew. See you in the Destiny galaxy Guardians.

2 RepliesI've met some pretty cranky, irritable, immature old people, as well as young people who are really sharp and mature for their age. I look more at the individual rather than generalizing entire age groups.
-
What age we talking here!? I'm 38 and since the game came out, I've been on the quest to "become legend". See what I did there? Yes? No? I'll see myself out.
My response is in fun and by no means a serious inquiry. But, I mean, what age we talking here?
3 RepliesEdited by TURBOTASTIC679: 3/8/2021 10:28:33 AMOur clan leaders cracking on a bit. Complains often about hip pain etc bless him. Me and the other clan mates are all putting in for a destiny themed walking stick for him. We’re currently debating on what to call the stick ? -Stick of the chosen -Aid of the senile I best not see bungie naming guns any of these in the future, I’ve copyrighted both 😄

1 ReplyHmmm, I play with my adult son and his friends. My daughter and her husband kick WOW butt. My grandchildren game, but not quite ready for Destiny. Can't wait for three generations to play this one. I like playing with most of the age groups here. I used to run an online community, and learned long ago that no matter what, there will always be a few asshats... Just ignore them. Banshee gave me my second booster shot last week!

I soloed Zork 1,2, and 3 before age 10.

Fr fr. Whenever I feel old like being late 20s wondering how long I'll be gaming and I see these GOATs in their 60s and 70s going hard it makes me super happy.

After reading all the replies here I glad have to say that this is pretty awesome. Seeing how this game has attracted players from various age groups is pretty cool.

I’m 70, like others here, been gaming since pong came out and had all the following consoles that came out over the years. Have been playing Destiny since its inception. Played all the Halo’s before that, over and over. Haven’t raided in D2 at all. In an Xbox clan and I moved over to PC when that became a thing. Need a clan that’s laid back as hell, to help an old gamer who can’t jump, try’s hard, dies a lot and has a great sense of humor. In the end, it’s only a game👍🏻

1 ReplyOld 58 year old here, been with Destiny from the alpha

8 RepliesGather round as I have a fun story to tell... I once did a master nightfall with a 60 year old woman and her daughter. They needed help doing it and I wasn't busy so I thought, why not? First: the party. I joined, introduced myself and asked what exactly was the issue. The granny as she will be referred to basically said she wants to do the master nightfall but her daughter isn't that good... She dissed her own daughter. So I said sure thing and made sure we all had at least one of the champ mods. We play the nightfall and talk. We have a grand old time, laughing and me giving a few tips to the granny as she kept trying to and I quote "Slap that knight with some respect". We get to the boss... This was the corrupted nightfall so, you know what that's like. We do well and destroy the boss finishing up. We go to the tower still talking. We decrypt stuff and I leave. Before I go I said the normal stuff I say. Have a good day and or night and stay safe. The granny shoots back, You too sweety... Shame you are a virgin. I had no response.
