Basically what I mean by the title is that for those of us with all the Exotics that have been put in the Kiosk, Ciphers are pointless for us. And with there being one on the season pass EVERY season, and Xur having a quest for one each week, I feel there should be an incentive for us to actually get them and use them. So I've come up with a couple ideas.
1) Vaulted Exotic Catalysts in the Kiosk.
Simply put the Catalysts in the Kiosk and change their tasks to simple 'Kill -insert number- enemies'. I'm missing the Sleeper Simulant catalyst for example, and I know people who were also unfortunate enough to miss out on some catalysts like Acrius and Telesto. This would be a great way to reintroduce them.
2) Have Xur sell Exotic Ornaments again like he did in Destiny 1!
I miss going to Xur every weekend to see the new trinkets and things he's selling. After acquiring all the Exotics I need... he's pointless for me. It'd be a great idea to take Exotic Ornaments currently in the Bright Engram pool and allow him to randomly sell them. I'm missing some that I really want like Quark Star for Sunshot and Thundergod for Raiden Flux. The chance of earning them from Bright Engrams are soooo low though, so I'd like some other method of obtaining them. I feel like this would be an excellent way to keep him relevant.
3) Allow us to exchange them for materials.
It'd be nice to be able to exchange a cipher for materials like Ascendant Shards, Enhancement Prisms, Spoils of Conquest, etc... Maybe let us purchase them from Xur with an Exotic Cipher!
Those are just a few ideas I've come up with, because having this useless item waste away in my inventory knowing I'm only going to get more of them, and seeing the potential for them is genuinely irritating.

I like these.

Edited by CorsairBadger: 12/16/2020 2:51:32 AMDefinitely vote for trading an Exotic Cipher for stack of 3 Ascendant Shards at Banshee.
-
Ironically, the rate of which you get the shards for new players is dreadfully slow, I haven't and do not plan to do the math over this but if you just started the game I think it would take you over a year to get all the exotics
-
I don’t need 5 -blam!-ing exotic engrams in the season pass either. Mine just sit there because I don’t want them. They are garbage

1 ReplyEdited by Juuha: 12/15/2020 1:40:15 PMCiphers should allow us to distribute stat points the way we want to on exotic gear. So if I have a MW Dunemarchers with a stat roll of 90, I can pop a cipher and reallocate the points to my liking.
-
1 Replywhen you say "for vet players" it makes you sound Like an entitle asshole
-
5 RepliesNo arguments from me today. I agree. They should have more uses, for veteran players. Even if you just dismantle things for prisms, I think would be nicer.
-
Edited by Hamlet76: 12/14/2020 11:11:40 PMMaybe they could allow for a re-roll on stat distribution for exotic armors?
-
Get rid of exotic cyphers. There is no need for them.

23 RepliesIdgi bro do you really have godrolls on every single exotic? The cypher gives you an extra freebie from Xur every weekend
-
3 RepliesAnd mod components!!

Sadly Bungie doesn’t care about addicts/players who show totally inelastic demand patterns. Instead they care to prove to new comers that they can easily catch up with those who have accumulated years of grind.
-
1. Let us trade them for Ascendant Shards from Xur. 2. Let us use them as a currency to buy Exotic ornaments from Xur. 3. Let us sell them for Bright Dust from Xur. Or, better yet, why not all three??? Bungie once again introducing a useless currency to veteran players.

Idk, I just nibble on them. Works for me.

Edited by Olórin: 12/14/2020 10:00:14 PMWish we had more variety in 'crafting'. Using ascendant shards or exotic ciphers or some cases both and other materials to craft our own Adept weapons. Ascendant Shards + Exotic Ciphers could be used to enhance a weapon you own that has atleast 750+ kills for Vanguard or 500+ for Crucible. Upgrading a weapon would give a +10 in any desirable stat, only if the selected stat isnt already a masterworked stat roll. (so if the weapon already has a range Masterwork upgrade it cannot be selected for an Adept Range Upgrade). I understand that Sunsetting doesnt want us to focus on just one or two weapons but this would at least give us the ability to hold on to the weapons we truly feel are worthy of keeping for activities such as casual crucible, so they will still be able to thrive, even after meeting their sunset deaths. Im also aware that there will be Adept weaponry from Trials but in my opinion this suggestion will only value those weapons even more so since they wont require any endgame materials to obtain, they will be obtained through skill but no materials will be needed to obtain their Adept status. Where as the personal Adept weapons will have us go through kills, time and endgame materials to obtain.

1 Replyhow about also letting us buy previous seasons ornaments.
-
I've always wanted a consumable that allows you to change a perk in the 1st or 2nd column on my weapons. Sometimes I'm 1 perk from having my perfect roll. Or maybe the Masterwork as well.
-
another great idea would be older season pass ornaments
-
It's a shame- I've been sitting on an exotic cipher (because u can only have 1) so i didn't claim the one from the Quest from the former Bungie employee who passed (RIP) and from my current season pass. I literally have 0 use for it
-
Would be cool to purchase ornaments with them
-
Probably a bit too much hope in this one, but I would really like to see some more exotic pieces added to the engram loot pool, it's quite a depressing thing now to have an exotic engram drop from enemies and the once excited Woohoo is now 'ugh another duplicate' I really used to look forward to those drops and the ones in the season pass. I suppose the veterans the op mentions are a bit more veteran than I currently am, as I still need to get another 3 from the lost light vault, excluding the raid exotics which will be beyond my reach as a solo player. Hey, at the very least it would be nice to see duplicate weapons also dropping from the engrams, so we don't have to keep infusing our current exotic weapons..?

I haven't used the very first cipher I ever got because I had nothing else to buy with it, and I'm not a heavy raider so I don't have the raid currency to spend. With ciphers being obtainable weekly, it would be a steady income of rarer materials without really breaking the game.
-
Mod components as well!

3 RepliesYou could use the Exotic Ciphers for another chance at a Exotic (Fated) Engram at Xur. Just keep getting Exotic (Fated) Engrams to get better rolls on your Exotic Gear.
-
Allow us to open a chest with them where we pick the exotic piece of armour we want. Basically another method to target farm stats.
